Kaecilius, Mordo and the Ancient One Get Doctor Strange Character Posters

5 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday, Marvel unleashed the first three character posters from the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character, Rachel McAdams as Night Nurse and Benedict Wong as Wong, along with new motion posters for each character. It seems that was just the beginning of this one-sheet rollout, with three new character posters featuring Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Mads Mikkelsen as the main villain, Kaecilius. Don't be surprised if another trio of posters arrives tomorrow to ring in the weekend.

Tilda Swinton's casting as The Ancient One was quite controversial for a number of fans, since the character was typically portrayed as an Asian male in the comics. C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote the script with director Scott Derrickson and Jon Spaihts, revealed in a podcast earlier this year that The Ancient One is the equivalent of Star Trek's Kobayashi Maru, »

Consider, for a moment, the walking, talking (and talking, and talking) literary archive that is Samuel L. Jackson.

The 67-year-old actor, who has more than 160 film and TV productions under his belt, has also brought a veritable library worth of books to life on the big screen, including works by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park), John Grisham (A Time to Kill), Stephen King (1408, Cell) and Edgar Rice Burroughs (The Legend of Tarzan), not to mention multiple passes at comic book great Stan Lee — Jackson plays S.H.I.E.L.D. honcho Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He even lent his incomparable swearing skills to the audio version of the bestselling children’s book parody Go the F--k to Sleep. »

22 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Earlier today, Marvel Studios announced that fans will be treated to a sneak peek of the new Marvel Phase 3 adventure Doctor Strange with a special theatrical event on Monday, October 10. We also showed you new character posters featuring Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Night Nurse (Rachel McAdams) and Wong (Benedict Wong). Now we have new motion posters featuring all three characters. Marvel also released an IMAX trailer today with brand new footage, to get fans excited for the November 4 debut.

Doctor Strange will mark Marvel's second Phase 3 movie, behind this summer's blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, which currently has the biggest worldwide box office total of any movie this year, with $1.15 billion. Marvel's brand new adventures that introduce new characters into the McU, such as last year's Ant-Man, typically don't bring in huge numbers like the studio's blockbuster sequels, but they typically fare well. Stan Lee has already filmed his next four Marvel cameos

27 September 2016 5:46 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like we’ll be seeing plenty of Stan Lee during Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Kevin Feige revealing that the comic book legend has already filmed his next four cameos in the McU.

“We do not shoot random [cameos],” said Feige during Marvel’s recent Captain America: Civil War awards screening. “They’re always specific. A couple of months ago in Atlana, [Stan Lee] flew down and we shot four in one day — for four various projects. They’re all awesome! They’re all totally different. And he was unbelievable. He was on fire. He came in, he sat here, he stood there, he stood in this window, and then he went home.”

Although Feige didn’t divulge which films Lee is set to appear in, it’s probably safe to assume he’s referring to November’s Doctor Strange and 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, »

It's become a signature moment in any given Marvel film: The Stan Lee Cameo. Whether it be from Marvel Studios proper, or a Marvel film from Fox or Sony, the legendary comic book writer can almost always be counted upon to show up for a cheeky moment.
