In 1955, she founded the League of Exotic Dancers, an independent organization within the American Guild of Variety Artists, which also became a vehicle to preserve the traditions of burlesque.

Established a museum devoted to burlesque and stripping called "Jennie Lee's Exotic World" at her ranch near Helensdale, California.

Although she and husband Daniel Lewis Wanick separated in the early 1960s, they never divorced.

Was the subject of a hit single "Jennie Lee" by Jan & Dean (Jan Berry and Dean Torrence) which placed #8 on the charts in 1958.
