The prayer walkers arrive around lunchtime at major Hollywood movie lots. At Walt Disney Pictures in Burbank, clusters of Christians who have been allowed onto the lot by key executives, first turn to face the Disney Feature Animation Building and the ABC Building, where they pray for the employees working inside. Then they move on to the production facilities where they pray for movies and TV shows that are currently in the works. From there, the prayer walkers stop in front of the executive building to pray for Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Iger and his upper staff, who oversee the global media conglomerate. “We keep our eyes open and do not join hands,” explains Tamara Khalaf, who attends Ecclesia church in Hollywood and manages the design team for Disney’s Animation Research Library and who has participated in the prayer walks since 2005. Sometimes they pray for...

Its collapse rattled the tight-knit world of visual effects, culminating in a demonstration at last year’s Academy Awards. To help make sense of the fallout, two Hues employees — Christina Lee Storm and Scott Leberecht – created “Life After Pi”, a YouTube documentary chronicling the company’s failure which debuts online Tuesday. Surf’s Up By Christina Lee Like a beach bum tearing off his clothes before diving into the ocean, Mgmt sheds its electronic sheen and pop hooks on its second LP, Congratulations—and, with that, the accessibility of debut Oracular Spectacular. Cowbells and organ chords set the frenetic pace for this crazed and eerie take on surf music that namechecks the godfather of ambient in its punkest track (“Brian Eno”). But in between enlightened ramblings, the band interjects a refrain that bursts forth brighter than a July sun (“Someone’s Missing”) and cues up psychedelic movements that wash ashore like the calmest of...

Needs a Transfusion By Christina Lee As proven on All Hour Cymbals and now on Odd Blood, Yeasayer knows how to set the stage for a great adventure. But while chipmunk falsettos may have replaced human howls on this interplanetary trek, these voices are still telling the same aimless tale. Starting with an intimidating first encounter, only now with distortion-voiced aliens (“The Children”), the band’s venture into a new world peaks entirely too early, with standout single the gurgling “Ambling Alp” replacing the last album’s chanting “2080.” From there, save for weak extraterrestrial stabs at R&B (“Love Me Girl”) and...

I'll admit, the first time I went to this site, I read it as Korean Bacon (which, by the way is a site of its own worth salivating over). But Korean Beacon as it maybe, is a relatively new site all about Korean-American life and culture. Let's face it, Koreans are pretty cool. They have John Cho (FlashForward) and Ken Jeong (The Hangover). "The Korean wave is happening and Hollywood is importing Korean artists and talent into the American mainstream," says Korean Beacon. So fittingly, they tapped another Korean rising star, Christina Lee, host of video game news series Pulse on the PlayStation Network, to host a weekly Korean-American pop culture series for the site. This series nails the newsy recap genre in which it plays—it's topical, niche, and short—clocking in at just over a minute breezing through its news bites without a dollop of unnecessary fluff.
