The Awesomes: Season Three Renewal for Hulu Animated Series

Hulu has renewed their animated superhero series, The Awesomes, for a third season. The voice cast includes Seth Meyers, Ike Barinholtz, Bill Hader, Taran Killam, Rashida Jones, Paula Pell, Josh Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Bobby Lee, Steve Higgins, Emily Spivey, and Bobby Moynihan.

Season two is currently being released on Mondays. Season three will be released in 2015.

Comedy Central Picks Up Digital Series ‘This Is Not Happening’ for Linear TV

Comedy Central has greenlit digital series “This Is Not Happening” for an eight-episode season to air on the linear channel — the cabler’s first promotion of a series developed by its inhouse Cc:Studios unit.

This Is Not Happening” features host Ari Shaffir jawing with his comedian buddies in front of a live audience at L.A. strip club Cheetahs. Series is exec produced by Shaffir, Eric Abrams, Sam Saifer and Jeff Tomsic, who will direct the season. Show is skedded to premiere on Comedy Central in the fall of 2014.

“The only reason we are picking up ‘This Is Not Happening’ is to prove we can incubate an idea digitally and then have it migrate to the linear channel,” said Kent Alterman, president of content development and original programming for Comedy Central. “And also, it’s really funny storytelling with fantastic talent.” Added Shaffir: “F— yeah!”

This is the first pick-up of a series developed by Cc: Studios, Comedy Central’s in-house creative initiative for the development of original digital comedy. The eight-episode season of This Is Not Happening, executive produced by Ari Shaffir, Eric Abrams, Sam Saifer and Jeff Tomsic, will premiere in the fall. Hosted by Shaffir and based on his long-running live show, This Is Not Happening features Shaffir and his comedian friends telling hilarious and true stories in front of a live audience at La’s gentlemen’s club, Cheetahs. Comedians that have appeared on the first two seasons include Kurt Braunohler, Joey Diaz, David Koechner, Bobby Lee, Natasha Leggero, Tj Miller, Trevor Moore, Kumail Nanjiani, Jay Oakerson, Steve Rannazzisi and Joe Rogan.
