The Experiment DVD ArtSony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Paul Scheuring's interpretation of the Zimbardo Prison Experiment September 21st on DVD. The Experiment is loosely based on a psychological test performed by Dr. Zimbardo at Stanford University in which students were put in to the roles of either prison guards or prisoners. Psychological concepts like social norms, social roles, prejudice, stereotyping, dehumanization, social comparison and many more influenced the test and created for a miserable time for the prisoners (these concepts will not be defined here, but can be found at the Psychology resource listed below). This film has had a limited theatrical release through Columbia Pictures and in celebration of the DVD release a trailer is now available for The Experiment. More details on the picture are below.

The Experiment and the Brutality of Man

2 January 2010 12:11 PM, PST | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

The Experiment will star Adrien Brody (The Pianist) in a re-enactment of the Zimbardo Prison Experiment. A psychological experiment to test how far males will go when placed in a specific social role, the Zimbardo Experiment had to be stopped after only six days. Those in the role of guards dehumanized, brutalized and basically tortured their fellow students with little prompting from a higher authority, their teacher (Zimbardo). Think Abu Ghraib. The depravity of man can now be seen on the big screen in 2010 with Maggie Grace (Lost), Cam Gigandet (New Moon), and Forest Whitaker (Repo Men) to also star. Have a look at a first photo from the set and a cast list inside.

A synopsis for The Experiment here:

"A group of ordinary men get recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners in an experiment and research study. The experiment is designed to see how »
