Vietnam War veteran awarded the National Defense Medal and Vietnam Service Medal, and won the George Washington Honor Medal, from the Freedom Foundation. Attended Newport Harbor High School, San Diego City College, Cypress Junior College, Chapman College, and LA Valley College. Paul won the LA Diamond Belt, Welterweight Division, the Southern Pacific AAU Boxing Championship in 1972. Won two Golden Globes.

Paul Lemat graduated from Newport Harbor High in 1963, in the same class as documentary film maker Greg MacGillivray. Others who have attended Newport Harbor High include Frank Marshall and Anthony Zerbe.
Close friend, Rocky Whitehead, is webmaster of his Official MySpace Website.
Signed sixty of the Franklin Mint 32 Ford Deuce Coupes for the first time ever, during a private signing with Rocky Whitehead & Brenda Whitehead in Hollywood, California on 1 April 2002.
