Great Balls Of Fire…Get Used To It

The Royal Rumble! Survivor Series! Summerfest! And, of course, the granddaddy of them all, Wrestlemania! WWE’s Big Four shows of the year. Events that can sell out based on their brand names alone.

Then you’ve got the second tier of shows like Money in the Bank, Hell in a Cell, Backlash, No Mercy.

Beneath those are Roadblock: End of the Line, WWE Fastlane. TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Quite a lot further down, you have Capitol Punishment, Over the Limit, Fatal Fourway. And then, somewhere way down at the bottom, we have the newest WWE pay-per-view brand. WWE Great Balls of Fire. Which, let me check, yeah – they’re still calling it that.

According to Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, on his Dinner with The King podcast, get used to it, »

Real reason Jinder Mahal won WWE Championship? Cm Punk rumor killer – WrestleTalk News

Smackdown Live – where people succeed on merit; where championship opportunities aren’t just handed out, they’re earned; the land of opportunity.

Whoah, Whoah, Wait – Guys. That’s too much opportunity.

At last night’s Smackdown-exclusive pay-per-view Backlash, Jinder Mahal beat Randy Orton for the WWE Championship in the show’s main event, after interference from his Singh Brother goons. After being positioned as an enhancement talent and undercard player for both his WWE runs – the first from 2010 to 2014, the second from just after last year’s brand split to right now – it’s only within the last month that Smackdown has positioned him as a main eventer, becoming the WWE Championship’s No. 1 contender shortly after moving to Tuesday nights in April’s Superstar Shake-Up.

As strongly as WWE booked Jinder for those five or so weeks, »

More shocking WWE backstage bullying stories exposed, big Tna returns | WrestleTalk News

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Despite his team losing to Jeremy Borash’s last week, Josh Mathews is still commentating for Impact Wrestling, coming out to announce on last night’s Bobby Lashley vs James Storm main event.

Just when I thought I was out…

I won’t go too much into spoilers, as Tna, Impact Wrestling, Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Bonanza – whatever you want to call it – returns to UK television tonight. After finishing up with Challenge late last year, Impact will now be airing on Spike UK every Friday at 9pm.

To make the time continuities even more confusing, though, the latest batch of Tna tapings started last night, and will run nightly until Sunday for their TV in May. And it was during those tapings where two big Tna returns happened. The next part contains spoilers for »

Kurt Angle Royal Rumble return “not gonna happen,” Tna taping “disaster”…

Goldberg took the phrase ‘cutting a promo’ a bit too literally on this week’s Raw, where his pre-match ritual of headbutting a locker to psyche himself up busted open his forehead. Quite wisely for the 50-year-old, he’s going to stop doing that from now on:

“I’m putting the pre match headbutt on the shelf for now… kinda made me a bit loopy out there. #learnfromurmistakes #whosnext #every1isnext #royalrumble @wwe”

I guess he could always replace it with punching a car window.

Unfortunately for WWE, blood doesn’t necessarily equal ratings. The big go-home episode of Raw before the Royal Rumble only received 3.29 million viewers – just 20,000 viewers up from the previous week.

In more Botchamania fun, seemingly in reference to last week’s episode of Smackdown where Jbl tripped over one of the show’s 19 commentators when rushing to help Jerry Lawler, the 205 Live crew came up »

WWE Smackdown Live! Reaction 1/17/2017

18 January 2017 2:12 PM, PST | | See recent LRM Online news »

Smackdown Live! is in the books for the week. The Blue Brand of the WWE is building up towards the Royal Rumble with their brand specific storylines. We saw the first WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship Cage Match as well as a special edition of The King’s Court with Jerry The King Lawler. How did the show hold up this week?

The show opened with the announcement from Shane McMahon that at the next Smackdown specific Pay Per View event Elimination Chamber, the WWE Championship will be defended by whomever the WWE Champion is at that point. A simple announcement but something the WWE has not been doing consistently as of late, promoting their events properly. We saw Aj Styles come out and complain that he would have to defend his title in the Chamber match with Shane reminding him that he may not have the title after his »

Randy Orton incident with WWE fan, ex-wwe stars return on Smackdown!

18 January 2017 8:22 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It must be tough keeping in shape when you’re a WWE superstar. There’s the constant travel, maintaining one’s diet on the road, and getting recognised by fans in the gym.

There are various ways to deal with this. There’s the Big Show method, where you use your giant abdominal muscles to scare everyone else away from the free weights area. There’s the John Cena way, where you just start squatting anyone who comes near you. And there’s the Randy Orton approach.

And, as you’ve probably guessed going by his savage replies to people on Twitter last week, that’s the least friendly version.

Speaking to the Nea Report, WWE fan Anthony Martin encountered Orton at his local gym on Monday before the Smackdown live event in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Being the guy “with a smile on his face and friendly demeanor” that he is, »

Triple H interested in Kenny Omega, WWE stars returning to Smackdown…

16 January 2017 8:50 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s hard to complain about WWE’s evil plans of world domination when they put on events like the UK Championship tournament over the weekend. A perfectly fine Night 1 was followed up by an absolutely cracking Night 2, with my current WWE match of the year in the final between Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne.

The real incredible thing is that Tyler Bate, the first ever United Kingdom Champion, is only 19. Michael Cole and Nigel McGuiness should’ve pointed that out more.

Both finalists were really over by the end of the night, with the excellent UK crowd cheering the face and booing the heel – quite the novelty on a WWE show these days. I’m just hoping Vince McMahon doesn’t hear Tyler’s name, and then give him a Master Bate character on the main roster. The gimmick is, he beats guys off…his championship title.
