New Kong TV Spot Shows Major Ties to Godzilla

21 January 2017 9:46 AM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

A new TV spot has emerged for Kong: Skull Island and it gives a little bit of insight into how Godzilla factors into this universe.  Check it out!

Ever since Godzilla concluded and the idea of a King Kong vs Godzilla movie was floated out there, we knew we'd get a tie-in in Kong: Skull Island.  We just didn't expect to see that before the movie came out.

As you can see from the Reign TV Spot, Kong: Skull Island gives the reason for the "nuclear testing" that ultimately created Godzilla.  However, it's not as it seems.  John Goodman explains that it wasn't a simple test, but instead they were trying to kill something.  That something could be Kong or perhaps one of the many monsters in or around Skull Island.

Including this easter egg into a TV spot would normally seem like poor placement, unless there is an even »

Four Kong: Skull Island TV spots offer up new footage

20 January 2017 4:20 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Four brand new TV spots for Warner Bros. Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island have landed online, and while most of the footage showcased has already been unveiled through previous trailers/promos, each one offers up a decent amount of never-before-revealed footage and dialogue as well. See them all, courtesy of Joblo, below…

Surprisingly, the first spot, entitled “The Island,” has a lighter and more poignant tone than the other promos and attempts to paint Kong as a relatively sympathetic figure who’s home is being taken over by a group of humans. “All Hail the King,” “Hunt That Ape” and “Man is King” turn their focus towards Kong’s violent side, the other monsters on the island and the fire and destruction that comes along with the humans.

‘Awesome’ is a term that is so often overused not just in the film industry, but throughout the world of entertainment to the point that the word itself has become something of a cliché. However that may be, awesome is perhaps the perfect descriptor for Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong, a beast so breathtaking – so immense – that he’ll become the tallest interpretation of the godly ape yet when Kong: Skull Island opens in two months’ time.

Pegged for March 10, Skull Island is the name of the Pacific island on which most of Vogt-Roberts’ monstrous reboot takes place. Home to a vast array of weird, wonderful, and downright extraordinary creatures – from Skull Crawlers to skyscraper-sized spiders to quasi-dinosaurs, they’re all here – Brie Larson and her team of intrepid explorers will soon be stepping foot onto the place where myth and science meet.

The Gigantic Ape-King Does Not Look Happy On These Latest Kong: Skull Island Banners

19 January 2017 6:29 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

This banner from yesterday featured a slightly calmer-looking King, as Brie Larson's beauty appeared to be in the process of reasoning with the beast. However, these latest official Kong: Skull Island posters depict the iconic creature in all his rage-filled glory, as he unleashes hell on the island's interlopers. Tell us, are you looking forward to this movie, or so you think King Kong should have been laid to rest with Peter Jackson's reboot back in 2005? A team of explorers and soldiers travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific, unaware that they are crossing into the domain of monsters, including the mythic Kong. Starring Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. UK movie fans! Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire with director Q+A tour planned

19 January 2017 5:36 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

We reviewed Ben Wheatley‘s Free Fire very positively back in Toronto in September of last year, and the good news is that the film is gearing up for a nationwide roll-out this March. Prior to that though, the director is taking to the road to bring the film and a Q+A session to various UK cities, kicking off next week down in Cornwall.

Select screening dates will also include special guests from the cast and crew. Take a look at this…

Free Fire is a unique and heart-pounding tale of a brokered gun deal that takes an unexpected turn.

Justine (Brie Larson) has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen (Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley) and a gang led by Vernon (Sharlto Copley) and Ord (Armie Hammer) who are selling them a stash of guns. But when shots are fired in the handover, a heart stopping game of survival ensues. »

New Captain Marvel Featurette Takes Us To A “Wild City”

18 January 2017 12:10 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In order to celebrate its new series, The Mighty Captain Marvel, the House of Ideas has just released a cool new video bringing readers up to speed in a matter of minutes. Somewhat similar to its Marvel 101 web series, this “Alien Nation” clip is a bit more entertaining in its presentation as writer Margaret Stohl (Black Widow: Forever Red, Black Widow: Red Vengeance) and editor Sana Amanat sum up the history of Captain Marvel in a nutshell – and we’re not just talking about Carol Danvers.

Although, considering she’s getting her first feature film starring Brie Larson in the not too distant future, Carol is understandably the primary focus here. Aside from the usual round of superheroics, it should be quite interesting to see how Stohl adapts her to living in a post-Civil War II world.

Belko Experiment Trailer Turns the Office Into a Blood Bath

18 January 2017 11:09 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While director James Gunn finishes his massive Marvel sequel Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for release on May 5, kicking off the summer movie season, he also has a much smaller movie he wrote called The Belko Experiment hitting theaters this spring. Following the red band trailer that was released in December, Orion Pictures and Blumhouse Tilt have released a second trailer suitable for all ages. But the latest footage still shows how gruesome this not-so-average day at the office is for the employees of Belko Industries. The Belko Experiment hits theaters on March 17, putting it up against what could be another Disney blockbuster in the making.

Blumhouse Tilt will put The Belko Experiment up against Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies this spring, perhaps even for the entire year. Beauty and the Beast has shattered trailer view records every time new footage is released, »

King Kong Makes a Friend in Skull Island Interactive Poster

18 January 2017 8:35 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Warner Bros. has released a new banner for their highly-anticipated Kong: Skull Island, which is gearing up for release on March 10 and could very well be one of this spring's most highly-anticipated movies. The banner reveals a very interesting image, with Brie Larson's Weaver getting so close she can actually touch King Kong's face. While this massive beast doesn't necessarily seem too thrilled about being touched, Weaver is still alive, after all, so perhaps this ape has a soft spot for her. If you want an even closer look at this banner, then you're in luck.

The banner debuted on the movie's official Twitter, but on Facebook there is an interactive 360 version, where you can get a closer look at the imagery on this poster. It's worth noting that the cast members at the top of this banner includes Terry Notary, who may not be a household name, »

All Hail The King: Check Out The All-New Banner Poster For Kong: Skull Island

18 January 2017 8:27 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Brie Larson’s intrepid explorer goes up close and personal with the mighty simian in this all-new banner poster for Kong: Skull Island.

First spotted by Cbm, this epic one-sheet debuted via the film’s official Twitter account, tethered with the caption: “Welcome to Skull Island, where Kong is King.” Perched atop the island’s monstrous food chain, the Kong of Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ reboot will stand at a mighty 100ft tall – the tallest interpretation of the godly ape yet – and as John C. Reilly’s crazed adventurer has warned in previous trailers, you don’t go into someone’s home unless you’re picking a fight.

That being said, Brie Larson and her team of daring explorers will have plenty to contend with beyond Kong. From Skull Crawlers to a mutated Pterodactylus, the primordial isle is teeming with nightmarish creatures, and isn’t exactly the kind of holiday destination one would find on TripAdvisor. »

When the trailer for Kong: Skull Island came out a few months ago, it took a lot of people by surprise. The film's got a great cast, and it looks like it may end up being an epically good time at the movies. The announcement of the film itself at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 was met with lots of positive buzz, and everything that's come from the Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures production since then has only added to that.

Kong: Skull Island is set to star Brie Larson, who's going to play Captain Marvel in 2019 (and is reportedly going to pop up in Avengers: Infinity War), as well Tom Hiddleston, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman.

An iconic meeting features on the new Kong Skull Island Poster

Author: Jon Lyus

The marketing for Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Kong Skull Island has been very impressive so far. The forthcoming monster movie has teased its biggest asset very well, with the latest movie poster giving us a peek at one of the movie’s biggest moments.

So far we’ve had ourselves a very story heavy first trailer, then a very excitable, monster-focused Japanese version, and now we have an update to the already impressive poster line up for Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ film. The new poster echoes the famous moment in previous King Kong films where the huge monster meets the film’s leading lady. Twelve years ago it was Naomi Watts who tamed the beast, a modern take on the iconic Fay Wray role of the 1933 film. Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, is this film’s sole female lead and it seems she too will have a close encounter with Kong. »
