Robert J. Langevin
- Producer
A graduate of School of Visual Arts, New York, Robert J. developed and produced THE GUNRUNNER. Robert J. cast Kevin Costner to play the part of Ted Beaubien. It was Costner's first feature film as a lead actor. The feature was filmed in Montreal in the Fall of 1983 at a time of a huge drought in production due to the collapse of the Canadian tax shelter scheme. Following completion of principal photography, the feature film went into litigation with the banks. In 1989, a settlement with the banks enabled the film to be released. Critic comments: "Quite an interesting film indeed, very smoothly directed and easily played without ruining it by too much talking... In fact, this is one of the best screen appearances of Costner I've seen, at least because he avoids the usual grinning and concentrates on the driven and melancholy character."
In 2021, THE GUNRUNNER was remastered, digitized and re-released as a New World Classic.
Robert J. is developing AUDREY's STORY, a historical post WWII drama romance fiction with real characters and events to be shot in Paris and New York.
Robert J. co-wrote the novel UTOPIA published in 1995 under pen name Lange by Éditions du Sagittaire. The novel written in French, relates to the creation of the 51st state somewhere between the Moon and Earth. The novel was well received by the critics and the French market.
