Since heading back into the hands of Paramount, there has been a lot of movement on the next instalment of the Friday the 13th series. There were rumours of the franchise heading down the found footage route and there was even talk that the hockey mask wearing slasher would not be making an appearance. The latest news on the project was that V/H/S director David Brucker would be taking the lead and that a new TV show based around Jason was in development.
Well, fans of the franchise will be sad to hear that the 13th movie in the iconic slasher franchise has been pushed back a whole eight months while Paramount’s other horror film for 2015, Scouts vs. Zombies, has been brought forward into its place.
What does this mean for Camp Crystal Lake? Well given that Paramount have yet to announce a director, writer or star, »

Paramount Pictures' Friday the 13th was set to get an all-new reboot on March 13, 2015, but is now moving to the year's other only option, November 13. There wasn't a reason given for the 8-month delay, but the horror thriller will be replaced with the studio's other in-production horror project Scouts Vs. Zombies.
V/H/S director David Bruckner is taking on this second Friday the 13th reboot, with Platinum Dunes' Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form producing alongside Michael Bay (the original team behind the 2009 remake). The movie will be shot found-footage style, but its still not known if iconic slasher Jason Voorhees will be back, as the producers have teased bringing in a new killer.
Sarah Dumont, Halston Sage, Lukas Gage, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, Joseph Morgan, and David Koechner star in Scouts, directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones). Andy Fickman, Todd Garner, Bryan Brucks and Betsy Sullenger are producing. The movie follows a group of Boy Scouts who try to fend off a zombie attack in their small town.

Though Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes recently picked up David Bruckner, who directed the segment "Amateur Night" in the horror anthology V/H/S, to helm yet another reboot of Friday the 13th, it will no longer arrive on the wholly appropriate date of March 13th, 2015. Instead, Deadline reports the film has been pushed back to November 13th, 2015, which is still a Friday, so that's good. It's just a shame that it's not in October. Meawhile, Christopher Landon's Scouts vs. Zombies will take the March 13th release, up against Kenneth Branagh's new Cinderella and the drama Heart of the Sea. Stay tuned. »

Slotting into its old place in March is Christopher Landon's horror comedy "Scouts vs. Zombies".
Then there's word that FUNimation Entertainment and Screenvision's feature "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods," the first animated film based on the popular franchise in nearly two decades, will score a theatrical release on over 350 screens in North America sometime in August.
Finally, Anchor Bay Films has set an August 22nd limited theatrical and VOD release date this year for its supernatural horror film "The Possession of Michael King" about a skeptical documentary filmmaker investigating the occult. »

Originally scheduled for release on March 13th, 2015, Friday the 13th will now be released on November 13th, 2015. To mark the home entertainment release of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, HeyUGuys had the pleasure to speak with Christopher Landon, the writer-director of this latest instalment and veteran scribe of Paranormal Activity. Our discussion became a chronological journey from childhood encounters with Aliens and wandering the forbidden section of the video store, to the director’s chair of The Marked Ones.
Why a career in filmmaking? Was there that one inspirational moment?
It was probably when one of my sisters took me to see Aliens in the movie theatre and during that classic scene where Ripley screams “Get away from her you bitch!” the audience stood up out of their seats screaming and cheering. It was that moment where I thought I want to make people do that; I want to make movies. So that was a defining moment for me.
Can you remember the moment you discovered the horror genre? »

Analeigh Tipton is in negotiations to star in the horror-thriller Viral, formerly known as Pest, which has Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish) attached to direct. We first reported on the project back in July, when Dimension Films picked up the distribution rights. At the time, Mark Tonderai was set to direct, but he is no longer involved in the project.
The story centers on a parasitic outbreak that causes its hosts to crave their fellow humans, with alien tentacles growing from their bodies. Analeigh Tipton is playing a teenager named Stacey, who lives in a peaceful suburb with her parents and younger sister Emma, when their lives are upended by this outbreak. They become trapped within their quarantined city as the infected grow more and more violent. More casting news is expected to come in the near future, as the filmmakers begin to lock in Analeigh Tipton's co-stars. »
