Money and greed are a package deal in red band trailer for Matthew McConaughey-led Gold

11 January 2017 12:30 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Matthew McConaughey’s Kenny Wells goes from unlucky to rich to greedy in a brand new red band trailer for Stephen Gaghan’s Gold, courtesy of The Weinstein Company. Watch it here…

TWC was able to release Gold into theaters right before the end of 2016, making it eligible to compete in the 89th Academy Awards. However, if previous movie award ceremonies are any indication, chances are Gold won’t be taking home many Oscars come February. Outside of a nomination in the Best Original Song category at the Golden Globes, Gold has been coming up short this awards season.

On top of the studio not campaigning that heavily with Academy voters, there has been a lack of hype surrounding the film in general, most likely due to the mixed to negative reception critics have met it with. Never count out McConaughey, but I certainly wouldn’t bet any gold on »
