‘King of the Screwups’ in the Works as Series at Alloy

Young-adult specialist Alloy Entertainment is developing a TV series based on K.L. Going’s “King of the Screwups.”

Alloy’s president Leslie Morgenstein and Cheryl Dolins are on board to produce the project.

Going’s novel, published in 2010, centers on a popular teenage troublemaker who is kicked out of his house and sent to live with his Uncle Pete, a DJ by day and lead singer for a ’70s glam rock cover band by night.

Alloy produced the first two “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movies and announced in April it was developing a third movie, based on the novels from best-selling author Ann Brashares. Liz Garcia (“Dawson’s Creek”) will adapt the novel and Ken Kwapis, who directed the original film, will return to direct.

Alloy’s TV business, acquired by Warner Bros. TV in 2012,  includes packaging and producing young-adult fare such as “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “The Vampire Diaries, »

Orange Is The New Black Gains Mary Steenburgen For Season 3

By all accounts, season 2 of Netflix’s hit prison dramedy Orange is the New Black was a major success for the streaming giant. Since its June 6th premiere, critics have been raving about it, audiences have been talking about it, and everyone is keen to find out just what showrunner Jenji Kohan has in mind for the already-ordered 13-episode third season. Now, we’ve learned that Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen (Melvin and HowardBack to the Future Part III) is closing a deal to appear on the show.

Details of just who Steenburgen will be playing are being kept under wraps for the time being, but her casting is a pretty done deal. The actress herself tweeted about coming aboard, with the following post:

With Nick Nolte and Robert Redford teaming up for the adaptation of Bill Bryson's memoir A Walk in the Woods we were already pretty excited. Then the addition of Borat director Larry Charles sweetened the deal even more. However, a new report from Deadline reports He's Just Not That Into You and "The Office" director Ken Kwapis will be at the helm, so we're a little less interested. But with that news also comes the addition of Nick Offerman ("Parks & Recreation"), Kristen Schaal ("Bob's Burgers"), Emma Thompson and Mary Steenburgen in the supporting cast, though we're not sure who they're playing. A few casting notices to report: Catherine Keener, Anton Yelchin, Kiernan Shipka, Riley Keough, Annie Starke, Cary Elwes, Lois Smith, and Ryan Eggold star in The Greens Are Gone, the feature directorial debut of Peer Pedersen. Mary Steenburgen joins Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal, and Emma Thompson in A Walk in the Woods, directed by Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You). Mary Steenburgen Joins 'A Walk in the Woods'

Mary Steenburgen has signed on to star in A Walk in the Woods, which started production last week.

The project is adapted from the Bill Bryson memoir which centers on the author (Robert Redford), a travel writer, reconnecting with an old friend (Nick Nolte) over a 2,000-mile hike along the Appalachian Trail. Mary Steenburgen is playing an alluring woman named Jeannie, who owns a local motel and uses her charms to try and convince the friends to stay the night at her place of business. Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and Emma Thompson round out the supporting cast.

Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You) is directing from an adapted screenplay by Michael Arndt (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). Robert Redford is producing with Bill Holderman and Chip Diggins.

According to The Wrap, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and Emma Thompson have joined indie drama A Walk In The Woods in undisclosed roles. Already set to star Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, the film is an adaptation of Bill Bryson’s best-selling memoir of the same name, and is being directed by Ken Kwapis from a script by Michael Arndt.

A Walk In The Woods will have Redford playing Bryson, who humorously chronicled his attempt to walk the 2000-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine with a friend (Nolte), in an attempt to “re-discover America” after spending twenty years in Britain. The film is a passion project of Redford’s, as evidenced by the decade-long attempt at getting it made.

I haven’t read Bryson’s memoir myself, but have heard only good things about it. With the cast that’s currently assembled, this one has tons of potential to turn into an excellent adaptation. »

Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal have been cast in A Walk in the Woods.

The actors will star alongside Robert Redford and Nick Nolte in the indie drama, reports The Wrap.

Ken Kwapis will direct from Michael Arndt's adaptation of the Bill Bryson memoir.

Redford will play Bryson, who was joined by his friend Stephen Katz (Nolte) in a trek along the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.

Offerman will next be seen in 22 Jump Street and Knight of Cups.

Thompson will star in the upcoming Survivor, Men, Women and Children and Effie Gray.

Redford acquired the rights to A Walk in the Woods almost ten years ago. »

After years of trying to push the idea through the thickets of the development forest, Robert Redford is finally close to turning Bill Bryson’s comic memoir A Walk In The Woods into a film. Emma Thompson, Kristen Schaal and Nick Offerman have now signed on to co-star.Redford, who had at one point considered picking up the megaphone himself, is instead letting Ken Kwapis handle the directorial chores, with Michael Arndt providing the adaptation. The actor will star in the film alongside Nick Nolte, with the story following their haphazard attempt to walk the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You) has signed on to direct the film and new cast members include Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson. They join Academy Award winner Robert Redford and three time Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte. The film was written by Academy Award winner Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine).

Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal have joined Robert Redford in the independent drama “A Walk in the Woods.”

Wildwood Enterprises and Route One Films started production Monday on the film, an adaptation of travel writer Bill Bryson’s memoir. Ken Kwapis (“He’s Just Not That Into You”) is directing from a script by “Little Miss Sunshine” writer Michael Arndt.

Nick Nolte will also star.

Im Global was selling international territories in November at the American Film Market. The project is adapted from Bryson’s 1998 book “A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail,” which recounts his attempt to walk the Appalachian Trail, which runs from Georgia to Maine, with a friend.

Redford first acquired the movie rights in 2005. Larry Charles, Chris Columbus and Barry Levinson have been in negotiations to direct at various points.

There’s Going to be a Third Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Movie

Good news for fans of apparel-based cinema: There is going to be another Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie. The first two films based on Ann Brashares’s novels came out in 2005 and 2008 and followed the adventures of a gang of best friends played by Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn. While none of the original cast members have yet signed on, a source at The Wrap says they "are in various stages of discussions to return." Meanwhile, Ken Kwapis, who directed the first movie, will be back to direct.
