Chris Hemsworth on Thor’s role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, promises “a lengthy fight scene of destruction”

17 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Coinciding with the release of yesterday’s Thor character poster, the official Marvel site has posted an in depth interview with Chris Hemsworth, during which the star offered up a few details about the God of Thunder’s role in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“We pick up with Thor having stayed on Earth from Thor: The Dark World. He’s part of the team. This is his home for the moment. The initial attack from Ultron is personal because it’s at all the Avengers, and Thor then begins to see a bigger sort of picture here about what this threat could be potentially. And it begins to tie in to all of our films… I think [Thor] openly admits he doesn’t think we can win this one. The threat is so great that all of them are scratching their heads wondering if this it. It’s just an onslaught, »

Joss Whedon on the scope of Avengers: Age of Ultron and its “unhinged” climax

As Marvel steps up the publicity for Avengers: Age of Ultron with a series of character posters [check them out here], Yahoo! Movies caught up with Joss Whedon, during which the director discussed the scope of the hotly-anticipated sequel and its “unhinged” final act as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take on the villainous AI and his army of Ultron bots.

Avengers: Age of Ultron got larger than the first film,” states Whedon. “I didn’t mean for it to get larger, but the climax that I pitched was completely unhinged and nobody said no, so that’s that… To me, adventure film is the best way to put it. Then science fiction, action, western, war, woman’s picture, horror movie … I’m not kidding; every single one of those things is in there.”

“You know they’re going to fight Ultron,” he continues. “You know Ultron has a tendency to build hundreds of Ultrons. »

Rumour: Spider-Man could feature in Avengers: Age of Ultron

26 February 2015 4:32 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Well, that didn’t take long.

As soon as it was announced that Spider-Man had joined the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to a cross-pollination deal between Sony and Marvel, speculation was abound that there would be rumours of an appearance of the wall crawler in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

As we said, it didn’t take long.

According to speculation from various websites, the poster for Avengers: Age of Ultron (which was released on Tuesday) reveals that Danny Elfman has provided “extra music” for the film. Now the speculation goes that Danny Elfman provided music for Ang Lee’s Hulk back in 2003, but more famously wrote the score for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 for Sony. Could this mean he has been hired to bring back his Spider-Man score for Avengers: Age of Ultron? Check out the poster below:

Of course, this is all rumour and speculation. »

New posters for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Here you go true believers! The first poster for the next entry in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Feast your eyes on a lot of heroes who don’t like their masks/helmets! I kid…

Update: Here’s an international version of the poster, shifting the spotlight onto Iron Man

It’s not anything we haven’t already seen but it is nice to see the marketing cogs turning. It’s not long now.

If you look very closely at the bottom you can see Anthony Mackie (Falcon) will be there too! It’s a great time to love comics!

What do you think of it?

Perhaps more importantly, what are Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver doing up there on the right?

Joss Whedon defends Spider-Man 3

23 February 2015 10:32 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

If there is one comic book movie that is oft-mocked and much maligned, its Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Whether you hate their treatment of Venom, the fact it has too many characters or that dance sequence, it seems that almost everyone on the face of the Earth hates Spider-Man 3.

Apart from the man with the keys to the Marvel castle, Joss Whedon.

In an interview with Empire (who else?) magazine to promote Avengers: Age of Ultron, Whedon spoke about the difficulties of adding Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch into the mix without over-saturating the cast of characters, and used Spider-Man 3 as a comparison piece.

“They have an origin but it’s largely described,” the director said. “They’re already good to go by the time we’re up and running. You don’t want to fall into Spider-Man 3 territory – and I say that as a guy who »

Joss Whedon talks not having Hank Pym create Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron

20 February 2015 9:28 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

One of the biggest changes to the backstory of the evil Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron is that he’s created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, and not Hank Pym as depicted in the comics. This, of course, sparked some outrage from fans who felt that Ant-Man should be the guy to create this piece of A.I.

“Of all the heat I’ve ever taken, not having Hank Pym was one of the bigger things,” Joss Whedon told Empire about the decision not to have Ant-Man in the mix. “But the fact of the matter was, Edgar [Wright] had him first and by virtue of what Edgar was doing, there was no way for me to use him in this. I also thought it was a bridge too far. Ultron needs to be the brainchild of the Avengers, and in the world of the Avengers and the McU, »

Samuel L. Jackson explains why he thinks Marvel is doing better than DC

20 February 2015 1:30 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Although he only has two more movies on his contract, Samuel L. Jackson remains the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set to reprise his role as Nick Fury in Avengers: Age of Ultron in April. And just like the Marvel characters looking to pick sides in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, Jackson has chosen which side he thinks is doing better in the comic book movie world.

“I think Marvel has figured out a way to make those movies accessible to the public… DC hasn’t”, Jackson told MTV.

“The Marvel universe is huge,” he adds. “There’s thousands of characters that they can access and do stuff with… it’s been that way since we started reading comic books. Most of us that understand the comic book world know that you can cross-breed and do all kinds of stuff. They actually did a great job »

Avengers: Age of Ultron rumored at 160 minutes

If the EventCinemas theater chain is to be believed, than the hotly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron boasts a fairly lengthy runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes. They are advertising the runtime as such here.

Correct or not, with a spectacle this large in scope that must also set the stage for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe phase, it’s not a stretch to envision the film flirting with the 3 hour mark. Especially since recent superhero movies such as The Dark Knight Rises and Watchmen also both hit 160 minutes.
