In the 10 years since Hungary introduced its production incentives, it has emerged as the leading country in Central and Eastern Europe in the race to pursue Hollywood blockbusters and upscale TV series.
Boosted by the 20% tax rebate, the local biz has been further strengthened by the opening of production facilities, such as Korda Studios, Stern Film Studio and Media Center, and Raleigh Studios.
For Hollywood producer Andy Vajna, who is also the Hungarian film commissioner, it is not just a question of price. “There’s always a cheaper place, no matter what you do,” he says. “So what we have to strive for is to be competitive on price, but unmatchable in quality.” Productions in Hungary this year include Brett Ratner’s feature “Hercules” for MGM-Paramount, and two TV series — NBCU’s “Dracula” and the pilot of HBO’s Cold War thriller “The Missionary,” in which Hungary doubles for East Berlin in the 1960s. »

The networks are revealing their upcoming schedules this week and with it comes first looks at their new shows. One of the shows I am most looking forward to this fall is NBC's telling of Dracula. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular vampire, NBC's version looks opulent and cinematic, the kind of show that would be more at home on HBO than a broadcast network. That could be because the head of NBC, Bob Greenblatt - who ordered Dracula straight to series without the traditional "let's start with a pilot" step - came from Showtime. With Dracula and Hannibal and midseason's pirate show Crossbones, maybe he is trying to bring a pay-cable aesthetic to a broadcast network.
Anyway, check out the official trailer and synopsis below. Dracula premieres this fall on Fridays at 10pm, following Grimm (which returns to its original 9pm slot).

It’s here! One of the busiest times of the year for those of us who follow news about TV, if not TV news. It’s the annual Upfronts, when networks announce who is staying, who is going, and when we’ll be seeing what. First up, NBC, home of Grimm and Revolution, and now home as well to Dracula and J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuaron‘s Believe.
We have the new NBC synopsis for Dracula today, along with the first, quite lovely, trailer. We also have the new synopsis for Believe, which features just a few little tweaks compared to the version we posted last week, And the schedule for our four favorite NBC shows. Ready?

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the first announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on NBC.
The Peacock did not have a good year. Only one of its new shows, "Revolution," was a true hit. Another, "Chicago Fire," got renewed by the skin of its teeth whilst the fate of a third, "Hannibal," remains uncertain.
None of last year's new comedies survived, neither did two mid-season dramas, which leaves the network with some big holes to fill. Three dramas and three comedies will debut in the Fall ahead of three more dramas and two comedies mid-season. Two further dramas and a comedy are presently unscheduled.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't become series including the high-profile Charlize Theron-produced drama about the Hatfields and McCoys, the Bruckheimer-produced »

The new fall season is closer than you think, and NBC has released their full schedule. Apart from reality favorites The Biggest Loser and The Voice, they are mixing things up quite a bit.
Take a look at a complete preview of the shows coming your way, and mark your calendars. It looks good for NBC this year, and while I’m not sure all of these look like winners, I think you’ll find at least a couple that you’re really going to like.

In a move that will make a lot of "Grimm" fans happy, for the 2013-14 season NBC will be returning the show to Friday nights and pairing it with new series "Dracula." Unfortunately, the fate of "Hannibal" is still up in the air.
Below you'll find more details along with key art, a few photos, and the official synopsis and trailer for "Dracula."
Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, said, "On Fridays, anchored by ‘Grimm’ at 9 p.m., we will have a more fun genre night with the limited-series ‘Dracula,’ starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers at 10 p.m. In the spring, ‘Crossbones’ — with John Malkovich as the infamous pirate Blackbeard — replaces ‘Dracula.’"
"Revolution" is moving to Wednesday nights, and after football and the Olympics are over, NBC will be launching "Believe" from J.J. Abrams (Sunday at 9 p.m.), which tells the story of an unlikely relationship that develops between a young girl »

While we wait and see what NBC does to Hannibal (the show has not been picked up for a second season yet), the network has revealed the first images from another genre-themed series: Dracula.
It's exactly what I thought it woud look like.
A period drama starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (6 Souls), the show, per Entertainment Weekly, finds Dracula posing "as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society but secretly hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier."
Thomas Kretschmann will plan Van Helsing. Dracula debuts this fall taking the 10pm-11pm Friday night time slot. More pics await inside.

Chicago – When you’re in as much of a ratings struggle as NBC, it makes sense to shake things up and that’s exactly what they’re doing in the Fall with a new show or an old show in a new time every single night of the week. “Chicago Fire,” “Revolution,” “The Biggest Loser,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Parenthood” are moving. “Community” is being held until a midseason, 13-episode run. No decision yet made on “Celebrity Apprentice” or “Hannibal,” which isn’t that surprising as they are mid-season shows anyway although it shouldn’t give fans of either program confidence as NBC announced a midseason schedule as well and they’re not on it. Anything could still happen with either program however and they could be held as replacements for shows that fail. That may be the best shot for “Hannibal” fans now. The best new show on the »
