Twin Peaks Pegged For Summer 2017 Premiere, David Lynch Reportedly Helmed All 18 Episodes

26 July 2016 3:09 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Cast your mind back to October of 2014, a time when the largely dormant Twin Peaks fanbase was sent into a collective tailspin upon hearing news that the cult classic would return via limited series.

Fast forward five months and change and the abrupt departure of series creator David Lynch threatened to throw a spanner in the works, after the prestigious filmmaker bowed out of the small-screen revival citing “complications.” That all came to a head in the weeks thereafter and, thankfully, Lynch was back on board.

Whether said complication proved to be a storm in a tea cup is something we’ll likely never know, but the one thing we do know for sure is that Twin Peaks is coming back in 2017 and, according to Ray Wise, is being aligned for a summer premiere over at Showtime.

Comic-Con 2016: Biggest Hits and Misses From the TV Panels

25 July 2016 2:51 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The dust has settled from Comic-Con 2016, and while Warner Bros. and Marvel’s film divisions wowed the crowd with sneak peeks at the likes of “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the weekend was dominated by TV, with a cavalcade of shows dropping major news (like announcing the final seasons of “Teen Wolf,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Bates Motel”) and epic trailers. Variety was on the ground in San Diego to tally up the biggest hits and most disappointing misses from the convention.

Hit: “The Walking Dead

Fans may have been outraged by the cliffhanger ending that closed Season 6 — which saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan beat one of the show’s main characters to death, but chose to hide who the victim was — but that didn’t stop the show from receiving an ecstatic response at Comic-Con. Moderator Chris Hardwick attempted to do some damage control over the criticisms of the finale, but »

"Prison Break," "24" Revivals Get Teased

25 July 2016 6:11 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Sunday was a fairly dead one for anything film or TV related at Comic Con, one exception though was Fox's panels for the revivals of both "24" and "Prison Break". Much like "The X-Files" earlier this year, both shows return with shortened event series runs.

"Prison Break" returns, six years on from its finale, with nine episodes. Actor Wentworth Miller spearheaded the idea when he and Dominic Purcell worked together on the first season of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," they brought the idea to producers and the "process was very quick after that" says Purcell. Both a trailer and a clip from the second episode were screened, check out both below.

Actor Robert Knepper says the new episodes tackle new territory - "We're going to go into a much deeper place, more mature, more brazen and simpler". Miller's Michael Scofield gets a fresh set of tattoos that are "central to the plot, »

Prison Break” is back and busting loose again.

In the revival series, Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) have found out that somehow Michael (Wentworth Miller) is alive. But of course he’s in prison. Time to do what they do best: Break out of prison. Meanwhile, Michael has a plan, and it involves something very innocuous. Check out this never-before-seen clip:

Along with the clip, Callies, Purcell, Miller and Robert Knepper, aka T-Bag, and execute producers Vaun Wilmott and Michael Horowitz appeared on the Comic-Con panel today in San Diego. Although we didn’t find out just exactly how Michael is alive (since he had apparently died in the series finale) we do learn that his tattoos are different this time around.

Miller said, “Michael has a fresh set of tattoos and they’re central to the plot. But they don’t work quite as they did the first time around. »

“This is more of an expansion of the 24 universe,” producer Manny Coto told fans in Hall H, likening the upcoming series to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. “It’s really just another story in the same world” that introduced us to the original version’s Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland.

Mongrel International to sell Locarno title 'Where Is Rocky II?'

13 July 2016 5:30 PM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Exclusive: Charlotte Mickie and her Toronto-based team have acquired international sales rights to The Ink Connection’s ‘fake fiction’ feature ahead of its European festival premiere in Switzerland.

Pierre Bismuth directed and Gregoire Gensollen produced Where Is Rocky II?, which will screen in Locarno’s Fuori Concorso section.

The film follows the efforts of Bismuth, who wrote the story to Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, in tracking down a fabled and undocumented work of art by Ed Ruscha.

When Bismuth heard that the renowned artist had created a rock out of resin, named it Rocky II and deposited it somewhere in California’s Mojave Desert in 1976, he hired a private investigator and two Hollywood screenwriters to find it and construct their own theories about the mystery.

The film debuted at Hot Docs in Toronto earlier this year and opened Art Basel’s film programme last month with an exclusive screening.

Tom Cruise Returns in First Trailer for 'Jack Reacher: Never Go Back'

22 June 2016 9:38 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We're on the run for this entire movie." Paramount has unveiled the first trailer for the sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, directed by Edward Zwick, bringing back Tom Cruise in the role of Jack Reacher, a character invented by author Lee Child. He's joined by actress Cobie Smulders, along with a cast including Robert Knepper, Aldis Hodge and Holt McCallany. I like the cold opening of this, with Reacher in the small diner talking back to some cops. From there it gets much more interesting, and for some reason I'm a bit more excited to see this sequel than I ever was the original. Maybe it's the way Zwick directs, as I almost always enjoy his films no matter what. Take a look below and let us know your thoughts. Here's the first official trailer for Edward Zwick's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, on YouTube (via Tfs): (Update! »
