Graduated from the Miami University of Ohio. His first paying job was as a journalist for 'The Daily Record' in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Subsequently worked for other publications in Chattanooga, Toledo and Cleveland. In 1950 joined Cowles Communications. The following year, he began writing a widely read syndicated satirical column, entitled 'Potomac Fever', lampooning politics and government. See more »
