Two New The Cape Promos with Summer Glau’s Orwell, The Villains

10 December 2010 1:45 PM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Good to see that NBC is finally making good use of Summer Glau in their promos for their upcoming superhero show “The Cape”. Here are two more, a second one with Summer Glau’s Orwell character (Oh la la, indeed), and another that shows off the villains, including Vinnie Jones as a scaley-lizard bloke. Oooh, scary. Vince Faraday is a devoted husband, father and cop, but when he is framed for a series of murders he didn’t commit and then presumed dead, he is forced into hiding while he tries to prove his innocence. Vince decides to take on the bad guys by becoming “The Cape,” a superhero from his son’s comic book series. Starring David Lyons, Dorian Missick, James Frain, Jennifer Ferrin, Keith David, Ryan Wynott, Summer Glau, Vinnie Jones, and Martin Klebba. A Taste Of The Cape’s Baddies – James Frain and Vinnie Jones

30 November 2010 6:00 AM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

If you love comic books, you’ll love these stylized villains from NBC’s new superhero drama, The Cape. James Frain (Tron: Legacy, True Blood) and Vinnie Jones (Wanted Dead, Chuck) play two of the show’s regular big bads, named Chess and Scales respectively. What’s behind the stylized portraits of these villains? What makes them tick?

Frain (above) broke the show down to its basic elements:

“It’s a superhero show and I play the supervillain. It’s not that big a stretch. No one has any real powers. It’s all about cunning and skill. It’s very serious in its intent. But it’s also light in the way it’s played. It is closer to Batman in that the people don’t have powers.”

Vinnie explained his character’s strategic plan for domination:

Vinnie Jones teases 'The Cape' role

26 November 2010 3:15 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Vinnie Jones has revealed more details about his new role on upcoming NBC series The Cape. It was previously announced that the star will play freakish criminal Scales in the superhero drama. "Scales is the main boss, trying to take over, and he will be trying all different angles to do that," he told SciFiNow. "He's going to be teaming up wherever he can to try to take over Palm City. I think there are lots of things there, with Rollo (Martin Klebba) [and] with Chess (James Frain), that are going to be evolved into the storyline." (more) »

'The Cape': First on-air promo, plus the full-length trailer

16 November 2010 1:40 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

NBC announced its midseason schedule Monday (Nov. 15), and Monday night it already had promos ready to go for one of its new series, "The Cape."

The show is about a cop (David Lyons of "ER") who's framed for murder, then presumed dead in a shootout, after which he goes underground and takes on the persona of The Cape, his son's favorite comic-book hero. He joins forces with a young woman (Summer Glau, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") to try to wrest control from the corrupt forces that run his city.

You might not get all that from the 30-second promo NBC is running on the air, which is more about style and mood than storytelling. But NBC also has a full-length trailer online that showcases the rest of the cast -- which includes Keith David, Jennifer Ferrin, Dorian Missick, James Frain, Martin Klebba, Vinnie Jones and Ryan Wynott -- and »

Summer Glau Gets Her Geek On With The Cape

15 July 2010 5:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

One of NBC’s new shows to premiere this fall (midseason to be exact) is “The Cape”, starring David Lyons (“ER”) and the ever graceful Summer Glau (“Terminator:tssc”, “Serenity”). Glau isn’t playing the superhero of the story, but who exactly is her character?

Glau explains her role:

“I play Orwell. She’s a blogger, but seems to always have this information that no one else knows.”

According to Glau, Orwell is “kind of like a young girl who has a lot of frustration” that will reveal itself as the show goes on:

“We understand that she has some motivation for the life that she’s chosen, but it doesn’t come out in the pilot. She’s trying to help stop the crime going on in the city. So she comes across Vince and tells him that she can help him reunite with his family.”

Yesterday we got a look at the San Diego Comic-Con 2010 schedule for Wednesday and Thursday of the show, and today the Friday schedule has landed online.

You can read the whole Friday lineup at the Comic-Con website, but heed this warning: It's intimidating, to say the least.

I've sifted through it to find some of the events you might be particularly interested from the worlds of comics, movies, television, games, and anything else that seemed appropriately awesome. Feel free to chime in via the comment section with the panels, events, and other fun stuff you want to check out Friday.

We're big fans of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" animated series here at Splash Page HQ, and the added bonus of a "Young Justice" premiere has this one underlined on our Comic-Con schedule:
