Nicolas Cage Vs The Rapture in Trailer for Left Behind

6 August 2014 9:30 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

This is the second trailer we have to share with you today about a movie that deals with the rapture. This movie is called Left Behind, and in it Nicolas Cage faces off with the end of the world. I don't understand what Hollywood's fascination with the rapture is all of a sudden, but audiences are sure to get sick of it really fast. This movie looks pretty bad, and I don't think I'll be wasting my time watching it. What make me really sad is that these are the kinds of films that Cage has resorted to making.

Nicolas Cage Is One Of The Leftovers In Dramatic Trailer For Left Behind

5 August 2014 11:23 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If HBO’s The Leftovers is too grim and depressing for you, but you still need to get your apocalyptic fix, look no further than Left Behind, which essentially utilizes that show’s same premise but adds in one key ingredient: Nicolas Cage. I know what they say – fool me once, shame on you, and all that – but the dramatic first trailer for this flick, which appears already destined for the bargain bin, is surprisingly solid.

A remake of the Kirk Cameron-led film of the same name, Left Behind centers on a small group of individuals who deal with an inexplicable cataclysm in which millions of people around the world suddenly vanish. Though Cage is billed as the star, and his character is front and center for much of the trailer, also highlighted is Switched at Birth actress Cassi Thomson, playing the daughter of Cage’s protagonist. New Left Behind Trailer: Nicolas Cage Facing the Rapture Looks Surprisingly Not Terrible

5 August 2014 11:22 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

When a new Left Behind adaptation was announced, it sounded odd considering that the original film adaptation mainly appealed to a Christian audience, which makes sense since they deal with the Rapture.  Once Nicolas Cage signed on, it sounded like his direct-to-vod that doesn't really challenge the talented actor.  Then the first trailer was okay, but looked more like a Lifetime Original than a real movie (it wasn't helped by the badly photoshopped poster).  But now a new Left Behind trailer has gone online, and the film looks legit.  In fact, it kind of reminds me of The Leftovers except there are emotions other than grief.  Or the movie could turn out to be This Is the End without the intentional comedy.  Either way, I'm intrigued. Hit the jump to check out the new Left Behind trailer.  The film opens October 3rd, and also stars Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, »

Awful Trailer for Nicolas Cage's Thriller Left Behind

31 May 2014 6:30 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Oh Nicolas Cage… why have you resorted to making these kinds of movies? You used to make really fun flicks like The Rock and Con Air, and you even won an Academy Award for Leaving Las Vegas! What the hell?!

Stoney Lake Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for his new film Left Behind, and it looks terrible. Cage isn't even trying to act. It is based on the New York Times bestselling book series of the same name, co-authored by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye.

First poster and trailer for Left Behind starring Nicolas Cage

30 May 2014 9:27 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s safe to say that Oscar winner Nicolas Cage won’t be troubling the Academy with his work in Left Behind, a new biblical thriller from director Vic Armstrong (Joshua Tree) which sees Cage as an airline pilot caught up in the Rapture. Still, if the first poster and trailer are anything to go by, it might be good for an unintentional laugh or two….

Left Behind sees Cage starring alongside the likes of Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Cassi Thompson (Big Love), Nicky Whelan (Neighbours), Jordin Sparks (Sparkle), Lance E. Nichols (House of Cards), Martin Klebba (Oz the Great and Powerful), William Ragsdale (Fright Night) and Lea Thompson. The film is set for release on October 3rd in the States, and will presumably go straight-to-video here in the UK.

Nicolas Cage Misses the Rapture in First Left Behind Trailer

30 May 2014 6:58 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first Left Behind trailer has been released for director Vic Armstrong’s adaptation of the bestselling book series by authors Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye.  This is the second feature film adaptation of the first Left Behind book, and this iteration stars Nicolas Cage as Rayford Steele, a pilot who is flying a commercial airliner just hours after the Rapture, a Biblically derived event in which Christians are called to heaven while non-believers remain on Earth to face the Apocalypse.  This teaser trailer doesn't offer much by way of footage, but it certainly looks like an independently produced disaster film. Portions resemble a Lifetime Original Movie, while others don't look half bad. Whatever the case, this should make for another curious entry in Cage's eclectic filmography. Hit the jump to watch the Left Behind trailer.  The film also stars Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, Jordin Sparks, Cassi Thompson, »

What to Watch: March 25-April 11, 2014

What to Watch is back in two-week form this time around, hitting the most important Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming offerings from both March 25th and April 1st. No April Fool’s Day jokes here. We’re above that. Sorta. What you will find is one of the best movies of last year, a fantastic comedy series, a foreign film you really should see, and further proof that John Cusack is merely slipping into straight-to-dvd oblivion like that damn horse in “The Neverending Story”. Pick one of the six. What the Hell, pick two.

Film Review: ‘The Bag Man’

4 March 2014 5:43 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The titular satchel in “The Bag Man” is one of those coveted carry-ons, like the glowing briefcases of “Kiss Me Deadly” and “Pulp Fiction” fame, that everybody wants, nobody seems to know the contents of, and which makes a world of trouble for all who come into contact with it. They include a melancholy widower hitman (John Cusack) and the assorted denizens of a fleabag Louisiana motel in this self-consciously weird post-modern noir that wrests some formidable competition to emerge as one of the most head-scratching money jobs of both Cusack’s and special guest star Robert De Niro’s careers. Despite a decent $14,000 average in its opening frame on two U.S. screens, the future looks bleak for the reportedly self-financed debut feature of British director David Grovic, while the name cast may stimulate modestly better VOD traffic.

The Bag Man Review

25 February 2014 5:00 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

I have only myself to blame. After checking out the trailer for The Bag Man (previously Motel) and noting the presence of John Cusack and Robert De Niro, two actors who have done terrific work in the past (I mean, De Niro has two Oscars on his mantelpiece, for chrissake), I started to get a little excited for this indie crime thriller. Perhaps it would maintain a cool, neo-noir vibe, or at least give Cusack and De Niro a chance to craft nasty, interesting characters. Alas, that quantum of expectation simply made it all the more agonizing for me to sit through one of the laziest, dopiest thrillers I’ve seen in years.

The film starts off with a boring set-up, as criminal Jack (Cusack) gets an assignment from his big-shot boss Dragna (De Niro): pick up a bag and hold it at a seedy motel until Dragna arrives. »
