The King Maker takes place in the Ayutthaya Kingdom in Siam (now Thailand) in the sixteenth century and follows the adventures of Fernando (the excellently named Gary Stretch) , a Portuguese mercenary, who, after being shipwrecked, is captured by Arab slavers.
