Slashfilm is reporting that filming is underway for Steven Spielberg's latest, titled The Papers. Centering around the release of the Pentagon Papers to newspapers from military contractor Daniel Ellsberg, the film focuses around the fight that Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee, who will be played by Tom Hanks, and Washington Post publisher Kay Graham, who will be played by Meryl Streep, had with the Nixon Administration in order to release the papers to the public.

Washington Post News Meeting with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg in attendance.

The story itself was a fascinating time in our history. The Pentagon Papers showed explicitly that the Johnson Administration had lied, and lied often, in regards to details surrounding the Vietnam War. At the time of their release, President Nixon could have easily let the papers hit the public. The papers could have been used to lambast Democrats at the time, »

Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee and James Corden all dug into President Donald Trump's sudden and shocking decision to fire FBI Director James Comey on their respective shows Wednesday night.

Colbert broke down the firing succinctly on The Late Show. "Now while it looks like Donald Trump fired James Comey to stop the Russia investigation – that is why," Colbert quipped. Russian president Vladimir Putin said that they “have nothing to do with” President Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, whose bureau is conducting an investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

CBS News foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer caught up with Putin in Sochi, where he was preparing to participate in a hockey game.

She asked him how the firing of Comey will affect relations between the United States and Russia.

“There will be no effect,” he told her. “Your question looks very funny for me. Don’t be angry with me. We have nothing to do with that. President Trump is acting in accordance with his confidence and in accordance with his law and constitution.”

At the White House, Trump met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Russian media was allowed in to take photos of the two. But when the White House press pool was summoned to the Oval »

10 May 2017 9:40 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

The word “Watergate” was on many minds on Wednesday as critics compared President Trump‘s abrupt firing of FBI Director James Comey to the scandal that brought down former President Richard Nixon in 1972.

Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward — who along with colleague Carl Bernstein famously broke the story of the Nixon-sanctioned break-in at the Democratic campaign headquarters in the Watergate building — weighed in on the Watergate comparisons in an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

“Indeed there are comparisons,” he said Wednesday. “This is a remarkable moment. It’s not something to take lightly.”

Woodward cited “many, many inconsistencies” in »
