Word comes by way of Deadline, revealing that Adamson – best known for his work on The Chronicles of Narnia and DreamWorks’ dormant Shrek franchise – will be the one guiding that curious little monkey onto the big screen. Details remain few and far between at such an early stage, but we understand Universal’s adaptation will mine inspiration from “the classic book series by Margret and Hans Augusto Rey.”
Said to be unrelated to the animated Curious George movie that featured Will Ferrell and Drew Barrymore, Universal’s plans for a live-action spin on the cutesy primate come at a lucrative time for the sub-genre. Thanks in large part to Disney – the House of Mouse has pumped out Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book ahead »

Deadline is reporting that Andrew Adamson, director of the first two instalments of the Shrek and The Chronicles of Narnia franchises, has signed on helm a live-action adaptation of Hans Augusto Rey and Margrey Rey’s beloved children’s book series Curious George.
The film is being developed by Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures, who were responsible for the 2006 animated movie, with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, David Kirschner and Jon Shapiro once again serving as producers. In addition to directing, Adamson will co-write the script, and executive produce.
Curious George follows the adventures of a young monkey called George, who is brought from his home in Africa by ‘The Man with the Yellow Hat’ to live with him in America. The series has sold over 75 million copies worldwide since its launch back in 1941.

A live-action adaptation of the beloved Curious George children's books is in the works at Universal, and it has a shiny new director in the form of Andrew Adamson, the man behind the camera for Shrek and The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe (the film, not the BBC version).
According to Deadline, Adamson is in negotiations to both direct and co-write the Curious George film. We don't have many details about what this live-action film might look like, but - personally - I am getting some serious Paddington vibes from this project. And look how well Paddington turned out.
Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Erica Huggins are producing the project through Imagine Entertainment, alongside David Kirschner and Jon Shapiro. Universal's senior production VP Kristin Lowe will also be involved. Imagine and »
Andrew Adamson of “Shrek” is in talks to direct a new live-action version of “Curious George” out of Universal and Imagine. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are bringing the new live-action version to Universal after having produced the animated “Curious George” in 2006 out of their Imagine Entertainment. That film grossed $69.8 million from a $50 million budget and got mediocre reviews. Adamson is also co-writing and executive producing the upcoming adaptation of the classic children’s book series written by Margret & H.A. Rey. The children’s book series by Margret and H.A. Rey chronicled the exploits of George and his owner, “the Man With the Yellow Hat.” The series was published by Houghton Mifflin in 1941 and has since sold more than 75 million copies worldwide.
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce through their Imagine Entertainment banner, alongside David Kirschner and Jon Shapiro. Imagine’s Erica Huggins will also produce. Senior production VP Kristin Lowe will oversee the project for Universal.
This marks the second time Imagine and Universal have teamed up on a “Curious George” project, having previously worked together on the 2006 animated movie with Will Ferrell voicing “the Man With the Yellow Hat.” In addition to the animated film, it was also turned into an Emmy-Award winning PBS show. »

David Petersen's fantastic graphic novel series Mouse Guard is finally getting adapted for the big screen and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Gary Whitta is writing the script for Twentieth Century Fox. Set in a medieval landscape, the first issue of Mouse Guard was released back in 2006 from indie publisher Archaia (now an imprint of Boom! Studios). Focusing on walking, talking mice Saxon, Kenzie, and Lieam, the series exists in a world where humans don't exist. And it's come a long way since it began, spawning anthology series The Legends of the Guard as well as a roleplaying game. The movie itself has been a long time coming. As early as 2008 I spoke with Petersen, who at the time had producer David Kirschner attached to help adapt Fall into a film. The latest news has Matt Reeves and Gary Whitta attached.
