NBC not moving forward with select pilots: 'Hatfields & McCoys,' 'Holding Patterns' and more

NBC has announced some of the pilots that it will not be ordering to series this fall -- releasing actors and writers from their contracts. This doesn't mean that those not listed here will definitely be picked up; it simply means that they're still in contention for the (many) open spots in NBC's fall lineup.

Not Going To Series:

"Joe, Joe and Jane": A multi-cam sitcom centered on an author, Joe (Will Greenberg) who is torn between his clingy wife Jane (Sally Pressman) and his best friend and writing partner, Joe (Dave Annable). Ken Marino, Aasif Mandvi Join NBC’s The Gates

It's with a happy heart we report that NBC has tapped Party Down's Ken Marino and The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi to star in a pilot titled The Gates. Adapted from a British series, the comedy will revolve around parents navigating an elementary school drop-off gate, Aka a "twice-daily social landmine." Marino will be paired with Kathleen Rose Perkins of Episodes; Mandvi will TV-marry Christina Kirk, who's recently appeared on Girls and The Good Wife. »

Christina Kirk Cast In NBC’s ‘The Gates’

Christina Kirk has joined the cast of the NBC comedy pilot The Gates. The project, written by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith and to be directed by Marc Buckland, received an early pilot green light last month. Based on the British series, The Gates is an adult ensemble comedy set at the front gates of an elementary school drop-off and revolves around the parents, school staff and 15-minute social minefield they navigate at the beginning and end of each school day. The show centers on the type-a Helen (Kathleen Rose Perkins), who just moved to town with her husband Mark and their 8-year-old daughter for Helen’s big new job. Kirk will play Sarah, a neglected, hot, depressed stay-at-home mom who starts hitting on Mark. Kirk, repped by Phoenix Artists and Circle of Confusion, recently did an arc on HBO’s Girls. »
