‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’: Everything You Need to Know About Zac Efron’s Ted Bundy Biopic

‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’: Everything You Need to Know About Zac Efron’s Ted Bundy Biopic
Never let it be said that Zac Efron isn’t open to taking some risks. For his next project, the “High School Musical” and “Baywatch” star is moving very firmly away from comedic and family-friendly fare into darker waters. In Joe Berlinger’s upcoming biopic, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” Efron takes on the role of Ted Bundy, one of America’s most prolific and terrifying serial killers. Bundy was executed in 1989 after confessing to the murder of dozens of women, including a 12-year-old.

The new film is still in production, but it’s already garnered a heady amount of buzz, much of it thanks to Efron’s own willingness to share insider photos from the set on his social media channels, providing his followers a look inside a project that doesn’t look to be toning down the more terrifying elements of Bundy’s story. Aided by a starry cast,

Amy Ryan on Playing Difficult Women: ‘I’ve Become Their Advocate’

Amy Ryan on Playing Difficult Women: ‘I’ve Become Their Advocate’
In “Abundant Acreage Available,” Amy Ryan plays a tough-minded woman who reunites with her brother (Terry Kinney) to bury their father on the farm where he raised them. As they argue about where to lay him to rest, another set of siblings from their father’s past show up to further complicate matters, laying claim to the land and injecting themselves into the center of this parochial setting.

Ryan’s character remains a fierce, defiant voice who pushes back against her brother’s religious convictions and the interlopers who question her solitary way of life. It’s a commanding performance that dominates this quiet, understated movie, and it makes you wonder why Ryan — an Oscar nominee for “Gone Baby Gone” — doesn’t land such impressive leading roles more often.

Exclusive: How ‘Abundant Acreage Available’ Paralleled Amy Ryan’s Real Life

Exclusive: How ‘Abundant Acreage Available’ Paralleled Amy Ryan’s Real Life
After indulging her funny bone with notable appearances on Broad City, Kevin Hart’s Central Intelligence and High Maintenance, and starring opposite Richard Armitage in the Off-Broadway production of Love, Love, Love, Amy Ryan is firmly back in the dramatic world that earned her an Oscar nomination for Gone Baby Gone with her new film, Abundant Acreage Available, in theaters on Sept. 29.

Written and directed by Angus MacLachlan (Junebug), the film tells the story of Tracy (Ryan) and Jesse (Terry Kinney), who after burying their father’s remains on their tobacco farm, are confronted by three older men (Max Gail, Francis Guinan, Steve Coulter) camping in their field. It’s a story of grief and morality and learning to let go.

It’s also one of Ryan’s best (and detailed) performances in years, earning rave reviews following the film’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival -- and the suggestion that she should be a contender

First Trailer for Crime Drama 'November Criminals' with Ansel Elgort

"My friend just got killed... You can't expect me just to sit around and not do anything about it!" Sony has debuted the first official trailer for a crime drama titled November Criminals, from the director of Anvil: The Story of Anvil and Hitchcock previously. Adapted from Sam Munson's novel of the same name, the story is about a high schooler who takes on his own investigation of a murder in Washington D.C. The film stars Ansel Elgort and Chloe Grace Moretz, along with Catherine Keener, David Strathairn, Cory Hardrict, Terry Kinney, Danny Flaherty, Victor Williams, and Tessa Albertson. Maybe it is just because I'm seeing Ansel Elgort once again, but this reminds me of so many other films recently, including Paper Towns and Netflix's "13 Reasons Why". Here's to hoping it's good, but I'm not entirely sure just yet. Here's the first official trailer for Sacha Gervasi's November Criminals,

Trailer for ‘Abundant Acreage Available’ Previews Amy Ryan’s Career-Best Performance

Having worked under the direction of Kenneth Lonergan, Steven Spielberg, Sidney Lumet, Ben Affleck, Bennett Miller, Lodge Kerrigan, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Greengrass, Joachim Trier, Tom McCarthy, and more, it’s astounding that Amy Ryan has never had a leading role — until now. Premiering at Tribeca Film Festival, where it won a Best Screenplay jury award, Angus MacLachlan’s Abundant Acreage Available will now get a release this fall and the first trailer has landed.

“MacLachlan’s latest is a departure from his previous work: a quiet, powerful portrait of two families at a crossroads, featuring the middle-aged Ledbetters — including the reformed alcoholic Jesse (Terry Kinney) and his adopted sister Tracy (Amy Ryan) — and three aging brothers (Max Gail, Francis Guinan, and Steve Coulter),” we said in our review.

Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, see the trailer below featuring our quote.
