John Carpenter to direct Tales for a Halloween Night

Back in July it was announced that John Carpenter is teaming with Syfy to develop the anthology horror series Tales for a Halloween Night, and now we have confirmation that the legendary filmmaker will be getting behind the camera to direct the pilot.

“He would direct the pilot, at least,” Carpenter’s wife and producing partner Sandy King tells Rue Morgue. “And then we’ll hopefully bring on some great horror directors—and just great directors—so that it’ll be a high-end show. We want anything that has our brand associated with it to be a satisfying experience for readers, watchers, whatever we’re doing.”

King also explained how the deal to adapt the comic book series came about, stating that: “It was just supposed to be a comic book, and I was surprised when, out of all the things we were doing, when Universal had approached us to

John Carpenter Will Direct The Tales For A Halloween Night Pilot Episode

If you're a fan of Halloween director John Carpenter, you'll be happy to hear that he is coming out of retirement to direct the pilot episode of a new anthology series coming to SyFy called Tales for a Halloween Night. Carpenter hasn't directed a film in seven years, and although this isn't a movie, it's still cool that he's coming back to direct a story.

Carpenter has been in the news a lot recently because of his music and the fact that he's producing and consulting on the new Halloween sequel film with Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Jamie Lee Curtis. He also might end up scoring that film as well, which would be great!

During a recent interview with Rue Morgue, Carpenter’s producing partner and wife Sandy King confirms that he will helm the pilot episode and also help bring on more great horror directors to tackle

If anything, this week is shaping up to be a memorable one for people who love horror anthologies. Not only did we recently learn that Trick ‘r Treat 2 may be finally getting off the ground, but word has now come down that the upcoming television series, Tales for a Halloween Night, will start off with a bang.

Described by Bloody Disgusting as being “based on [John] Carpenter’s award-winning graphic novel anthology of stories where he brings together storytellers from the worlds of movies, novels, and comics for a collection of horror stories featuring graveyards, sunken ships, creepy crawlers and ghosts,” a TV adaptation undoubtedly sounds like a must watch for those with a penchant for the macabre.

But what should really seal the deal is knowing that, at the very least, Carpenter himself will direct the pilot episode. And, in case you were wondering, this was confirmed in a recent

Blu-ray Review: Village of the Damned Collector’s Edition (Scream Factory)

I have a shaky relationship with Village of the Damned. On the one hand, it’s a pretty piss-poor movie in a lot of ways. It has a lot going against it. It’s a remake, the acting is ludicrous, and some of the decisions made by the characters are just mind-numbing. On the other hand, it is a John Carpenter movie, and as we’ve all learned by this point — with the exception of The Ward — even a bad John Carpenter movie is better than a lot of filmmakers’ good movies. So yes, it’s a ridiculous movie, and yes, it’s really easy to get a group of friends together, and throw this on for the purpose of laughing at it, and yes, this movie turns Christopher Reeve — a man famous to most of us because of his portrayal of Superman, humanity’s symbol of hope — into a
