Missed Monday’s late-night monologues? We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the night’s best laughs from across the dial.
Trial Media on Trial
There were only two late-night hosts on duty in a week when opening arguments in Donald Trump’s election interference trial began. Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel alone, therefore, were left to apply their signature takes to the official start of the first-ever criminal trial for a former U.S. President, one which not only hinges on Trump’s alleged affair with (and subsequent hush money payment to) adult film actress Stormy Daniels, but where the first witness to be called will be the former National Enquirer publisher and Trump pal whose name happens to be David Pecker. (Who is alleged to have both planted fake stories about Trump opponents and bought and buried stories damning to Trump.)

Palm Royale with its meticulously matched period décor and costuming is a true immersion in late 1960s Palm Beach culture. But while watching the Apple TV+ series, one can’t help but see the connections between the topics that were emerging as national concerns then and the biggest social issues now.
“It’s so cool to think about how far we’ve come as women and that we have so many options today, but 1969 isn’t that long ago,” says Leslie Bibb, who stars in the Kristen Wiig-starring comedy as Dinah, a woman desperate to maintain her wealthy status after marrying for money rather than love. “It’s not that far back that women’s rights weren’t an issue.”
For the women of the Palm Royale country club that the series orbits around, including newbie Maxine (Wiig), they still aren’t an issue — even in the face of...

Having already starred in the biggest blockbuster of the year so far, Zendaya is once again set to take the spotlight at the box office with her upcoming sports drama, Challengers. With the film sitting in the high 90s at the Tomatometer as of writing, things are looking promising for the Luca Guadagnino-led romance, which made waves following the threeway kiss in its trailer.
Unsurprisingly, following the nature of the feature, the film has been rated R ahead of its US release, and the Far From Home star made sure to give her family a warning ahead of watching.

In 2009, at the request of SkyMovies, Quentin Tarantino named his 20 favorite films released between 1992 and 2009. 1992 was chosen as the starting point because that was the year Tarantino himself became a film director. Quentin cited a Japanese action movie that he felt was blatantly ripped off by The Hunger Games as his favorite project of the past 17 years:
“I’m a big fan of the Japanese movie Battle Royale, which is what Hunger Games was based on. Well, Hunger Games just ripped it off. That would have been awesome to have directed Battle Royale.”
Long before The Hunger Games, director Kinji Fukasaku captured the frenzy of teenagers stranded on an island to survive. Battle Royale is a Japanese film that has become a cult classic over the course of two decades, spawning a wave of works about deadly games.

Donald Trump, if you take it from him, is cherishing the opportunity to stand trial on criminal charges related to a hush-money payment to a porn star. “I’m very proud to be here,” he told reporters before heading into court on Monday, calling the proceedings an “assault on America” that his presence, presumably, would serve to expose. “I’m very honored to be here,” the former president added.
Trump hasn’t been taking to martyrdom very well behind the scenes, though, three sources with knowledge of the matter tell Rolling Stone.

It appears that late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is a bit of a gambling man! In a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host admitted he bet on actress Zendaya to win Dancing With The Stars.
The Dune actress competed in DWTS Season 16 when she was just 16 years old. At the time, she was the youngest competitor the show had ever seen. She and her professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy finished in second place behind Derek Hough and Kellie Pickler.
Although Zendaya didn’t win her season, she reportedly still won quite a bit of money for Jimmy Kimmel. Keep reading to see what the talk show host had to say.

If you want to make Jimmy Kimmel really happy, just get into the verbal ring with him and fire away with blows high and low.
Kimmel is personally a big-hearted, generous guy with a mostly even temperament. But if invited between the ropes, boy does he like to mix it up.
Maybe it’s the Brooklyn in him (his birth place), because anybody from Brooklyn (in my experience) has a taste for what used to be called a “rank-out contest.”
You toss an insult; you get two back. In the face.
That pretty much defines what we have going on right now: a rank-out contest. Only this isn’t the playground, or even morning-zoo talk radio. It’s a significant development in perhaps the most consequential political campaign in American history.

Disgraced former congressman George Santos appeared in federal court Thursday afternoon, but for once he wasn’t the defendant. That honor went to Jimmy Kimmel.
The pretrial conference, which Kimmel did not attend, offered a preview of what’s come when/if the case actually goes to trial.
Santos is suing Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for fraud, alleging that Kimmel misrepresented himself when he commissioned over a dozen Cameo videos from Santos in December.
The videos, purchased for $500 a piece, saw Santos reading from outlandish scripts and were aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! under the rubric of a feature Kimmel dubbed “Will Santos Say It?”
Santos alleges that Kimmel’s on-air use of the videos violated his copyright, and broke Cameo’s terms of service. Santos also argues that Kimmel committed fraud when he used aliases to commission the videos “for the sole purpose of capitalizing on and ridiculing” Santos.

Undeniably, The Circle is back and coming in with new tricks. While the Netflix hit doesn’t disappoint, it still has catfish for the newest season. One of the new players, Caress Russell is coming in strong as her rapper little bro, but who is this famous guy?
Suspicions Arise In The Circle
During the first four episodes of The Circle Season 6, fans get to know a few new players. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest tricks up The Circle‘s sleeve was it announcing not everyone in the competition is human. After the huge introduction of the idea of a computer generated person being in the game, everyone begins to point fingers. But among the group is more than just the chat bot catfish, there are a...

Jimmy Kimmel was widely praised last month for presiding over an entertaining edition of The Academy Awards that actually saw year-over-year ratings growth (a rarity these days in linear television).
In fact, it was such a success that when asked whether he’d invite Kimmel back to host next year, ABC’s executive vice president of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment Rob Mills said he’d be willing to sign Kimmel to a “lifetime contract” for hosting the Oscars. “I mean, I will certainly beg him to do it,” he said.
At the time, Kimmel’s side seemed less enthused. Asked about the possibility of returning, Kimmel’s wife and producing partner Molly McNearny said they needed time to think about it. “Ask me in a month or two after I’ve had a little bit of vitamin D maybe… I honestly don’t know. I feel like we’ve done a great job.

Former President Donald Trump was roundly mocked on late night television for an error-laden social media post in which he confused Jimmy Kimmel and Al Pacino as the presenter of this year’s best picture Oscar.
On Wednesday, the presumptive Republican nominee for president drew some attention away from his hush money trial, which is now in the jury selection process in Manhattan, with a post on his Truth Social platform in which he reignited a feud with Kimmel, who hosted the Oscar ceremony March 10, more than five weeks ago.
In part, Trump posted: “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from Tds, commonly known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, to the entire World by reading on air my Truth about how bad a job he was doing that night,...

Stephen Colbert stood up for Jimmy Kimmel following Donald Trump’s latest social media outburst over the Oscars, where host Kimmel dissed Trump live on stage by reading the former president’s criticism of the ceremony and saying: “Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still — isn’t it past your jail time?” In an April 17 post on Truth Social, Trump slammed “stupid Jimmy Kimmel” and called him a “horrendous” host. Trump also blamed Kimmel for the show’s “big ratings drop.”
“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, Ok?” Colbert fired back during “The Late Show.” “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from ‘Strike Force Five.’ And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”

The old saying goes, “If you come at the king, you best not miss.” That could likely be adapted to the late-night motto, “If you come for someone paid to tell jokes about you for a living, you’d best have some decent jokes of your own—or at least a competent fact-checker.” Sadly for Donald Trump, his recent decision to attack Jimmy Kimmel Live! and recent Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel demonstrated a serious lack of both comic ammunition and accuracy, as Trump’s social media shot blew up in his face on Wednesday.

“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, Ok?” Colbert said sternly. “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from Strike Force Five. And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”
Colbert continued, “And for the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host. Oscar viewership was up 4%. That’s right. This year, four more people watched.”
The CBS late-night show host called out Trump for posting on Truth Social while he faces trial “to stay laser-focused on the issues that voters care most about.”

After a long two days of court naps and having to sit through mean memes, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to throw a tantrum. The former president once again took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who on Tuesday, roasted Trump over his clumsy attempt to pass off his alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels as a “legal expense” and his struggling Twitter copycat.
Trump revisited Kimmel’s months-old joke about him at the Oscars (a highlight of the ceremony), whilst also confusing the comedian for Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino.

It wasn’t immediately clear what provoked it, but former President Trump lashed out (again) at Jimmy Kimmel Wednesday, apparently conflating the late-night host with… Al Pacino?
Trump began his Wednesday morning screed with a mammoth run-on sentence that wrongly stated that ratings for this year’s Kimmel-hosted Academy Awards were down (they wern’t), and that Kimmel had announced this year’s Best Picture winner (he didnt).
Kimmel tweeted out his own response a few hours later, saying simply, “in fairness to our former President, many stable geniuses confuse me with Al Pacino…”
Trump, who’s currently in New York City for jury selection in the first of several criminal trials being brought against him, appears to still be seething over Kimmel’s joke that preceded Al Pacino’s presentation of Best Picture at this year’s Oscars.
With the show unexpectedly running short, Kimmel decided to read a...

The Oscars took place more than a month ago, but former President Donald Trump continues to grouse about its host, Jimmy Kimmel.
But in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump confused a moment from the ceremony, mistaking something that Al Pacino did with Kimmel’s performance.
Trump wrote on the platform today: “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from Tds, commonly known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, to the entire World by reading on air my Truth about how bad a job he was doing that night, right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, “Picture of the Year.” It was a Classic Choke, one of the biggest ever in show business, and to top it off, he forgot to say the famous and mandatory line,...

Donald Trump is keeping his Oscars feud with Jimmy Kimmel alive with a new post on Truth Social in which the former president once again slammed Kimmel for being a “horrendous” Academy Awards host. Trump then mixed up Kimmel with this year’s best picture presenter, Al Pacino. Trump’s diss arrived amid his hush money trial in New York City, for which Kimmel has been roasting Trump all week on his ABC late night show.

Seven jurors made the cut on Tuesday. However, more were dismissed after questions arose about content they had shared on social media that ridiculed the former president, while Trump himself was forced look at mean memes about him shared by prospective jurors.

Jimmy Kimmel may have lost a vice president, but he’s gaining a Southern rocker.
While Kamala Harris had to take a raincheck on her planned Tuesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, it turns out hers wasn’t the only special visit the host had planned this week. As Variety reports, Kimmel is resurrecting his outdoor concert stage on Wednesday with Chris Stapleton as his first performer.
Kimmel’s al fresco stage, which is located in the parking lot behind his Hollywood studio, has the capacity to hold more than 1,000 concert-goers and has featured an all-star lineup of artists in the past. Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Elton John, Prince, No Doubt, Usher, and Snoop Dogg are just a few of the performers who have entertained Kimmel’s crowd over the years. But this week’s performance will mark the first in more than four years.

Late night’s current era of good feelings was on full display last night as Seth Meyers (taking advantage of a two-week break from his own show) sat down with Jimmy Kimmel for his first-ever appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Meyers—who Kimmel introduced as a “hardworking American treasure” whose own show “airs the minute ours ends over on NBC”—surprised the crowd as well as Kimmel by wearing a suit for the occasion, which is something you’d never see on Late Night.
“I feel like you’re at my funeral or something,” Kimmel joked of Meyers’ formalwear. “It’s very kind.”
In an attempt to clarify his decision to rock a more casual look on his own show, Meyers explained that “the reason I don’t dress up for my show is it is on later. It’s on at 12:30 at night and I realize no one...

After his legal team tried literally every desperate gambit to delay, recuse, deny, and otherwise make it go away, Donald Trump’s criminal trial on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records to hide hush money to a porn star commenced on Monday. And while the first day was spent largely on the arduous task of finding twelve human beings not already nauseatingly familiar with Trump’s alleged adulterous dalliance with adult film actress Stormy Daniels and the ensuing election year coverup (which has already seen Trump’s longtime fixer Michael Cohen go to prison), the news is already not great for the former President and multiple defendant.

She was scheduled to sit down with Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night, but with official business cutting her trip to Los Angeles short, Kamala Harris is giving the ABC late-night host a rain check instead
It wasn’t immediately clear why is Harris headed back to Washington ahead of schedule, but insiders say her interview with Kimmel will be rescheduled for a later date.
Announced just last Thursday, Tuesday’s visit with Kimmel would have been Harris’ first as vice president. She previously appeared on the show twice during her 2020 presidential run.
With the situation in the Middle East escalating over the weekend after Iran carried out its first-ever strikes against Israel, it’s possible The White House and/or the Biden campaign simply decided now isn’t the right time for the VP to appear on a late-night show.

IATSE is looking to wrap up local-specific negotiations with the studios this week before the guild turns its attention to general contract talks.
There are just three locals left to strike tentative deals with the Alliance of Motion Picture Television Producers on craft issues. Locals 44 and 705 are slated to begin talks Monday, and Local 884 will be the last to start bargaining, likely later in the week.
Deadline hears local talks should be done by the end of the week in order to give the negotiating committee another week of caucusing before heading into bargaining for the Basic Agreement on April 29.
So far, things have been going quite smoothly for IATSE, prompting a “feeling of momentum that these negotiations have gone in some cases like clockwork,” a union source tells Deadline.

Can you believe that Dennis Quaid turned down, not one, but two movies made famous by Tom Hanks? Like, what? So here’s the gist.

In case we needed yet one more reminder that the late-night wars of old have long since passed the Armistice stage, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel is set to welcome NBC’s Seth Meyers to his late-night program tonight.
While it’ll be Meyers’ first visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, by now the two late-night hosts are well-acquainted. Together they were two-fifths of last year’s Strike Force Five podcast, where they helped raise funds for their staff during the WGA strike.
Separately, the two hosts have also both released children’s books in recent years, memorably joining forces to help promote each others books.
Meyers, who’s on a two week break from Late Night, has plenty of projects to promote beyond his own show.
He recently produced the Peacock documentary Good One: A Show About Jokes, which follows follows comedian Mike Birbiglia on the road as he builds a new comedy set.

Henry Cavill is unarguably one of the hottest, most jaw-dropping physique-possessing celebrities in the entirety of Hollywood’s entertainment industry. Yet, as much of a quarterback-like personality as he looks on the outside, his true choice of interest lies in something completely different; one that even has many labeling him as a “nerd”: His passionate love for gaming.
Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes.
While he is majorly a gaming freak, one specific gaming universe that enchants him to unparalleled levels of excitement, thrill, and exhilaration is none other than the Warhammer one. Imagine your past dark moments in life being used as a joke in front of thousands of people while you sit in the audience unable to do anything.
That’s exactly what happened last month March 10 at the 2024 Oscars which took place at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
At the 96th Academy Awards, the host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Jimmy Kimmel had the honor to host the event but during his opening monologue, Jimmy dropped some very uncomfortable comments about the “Iron Man” Robert Downey Junior’s well-known substance abuse past.
While the actor who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding performance as Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer” didn’t say anything concerning Jimmy’s jokes, he finally broke his silence in a recent interview with “Esquire” published April 8.
It turns out that although Robert looked uncomfortable at the Oscars during Jimmy’s jokes, he didn’t take it to heart.

Tom Hiddleston is reflecting on 14 years of portraying Loki in Marvel films and television shows and admits he isn’t sure whether he’ll return to the role.
The actor stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to promote the news that his series, The Night Manager, was returning for two more seasons after taking an eight-year break. While on the late night show, the host asked Hiddleston if he knew when he was cast in the role of Loki that he would be playing him for as long as he has.
“I had no idea, and every time someone says that [it’s been 14 years], it kind of blows my mind because when I was cast in 2009, I was 28, and I’m 43 now, and that’s a big chunk of my adult life I’ve been playing this amazing character,” the Thor star said. “It’s changed the course of my life completely.

Chris Rock made a tasteless comment when he compared his Oscar-hosting situation with the late Nicole Brown Simpson case. Rock was at the receiving end of Will Smith’s infamous Oscar slap that landed the latter a decade-long ban from the Academy. So when Rock was asked to host the 2023 Awards, it was clearly too soon, and Rock’s reply analogy turned out to be a little controversial.
Fargo actor Chris Rock made a tasteless joke about Nicole Brown Simpson while discussing his Oscar-hosting gig
During one of his standup specials, Rock shared that the Academy offered him the Oscars host role the very next year after the Slap. He shared that asking him to host was just like asking Nicole Brown Simpson to revisit the evidence against O.J. Simpson.

ABC announced Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this coming Tuesday, April 16.
VP Harris and Kimmel are not strangers, this will be her third appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The previous two occurred during her 2020 Presidential run, in March and July 2019, respectively.
Harris’ sit-down with Kimmel will represent her first appearance on a late-night show since March 16, 2023, when she appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
It’s become clear that late night is now a preferred destination for top government officials in 2024. The VP’s upcoming appearance on Kimmel comes several weeks after Seth Meyers hosted President Biden for Late Night’s’ 10th anniversary show. Stephen Colbert sat down with Presidents Biden, Obama and Clinton last month at a New York fundraiser which ended up hauling in a reported $26 million for the Biden reelection campaign.

The Miz, John Cena and R-Truth got busy in the ring at Judgment Day at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The trio jumped at three other wrestlers as the audience cheered during Monday Night Raw.
“I’m crossing my fingers and toes, and my heart that maybe – maybe just maybe – I can tell the Hollywood world to pump the brakes for a while and come back to my family for one last run,” Cena noted on the Pat McAfee Show before the event. “I hope, I don’t know. I hope, I’m trying, we’ll see what happens.”
In February, Cena stripped down at the Oscars for a bit with host Jimmy Kimmel.
“Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today? I said, can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?” Kimmel said at the awards ceremony.

The 2025 Oscars ceremony is months away, but we already know some things about the show, the potential nominees and who may host it.
Read on below for answers to your questions about the 2025 Academy Awards.
When Are The 2025 Oscars?
The Oscars will be handed out Sunday, March 2 — a week earlier than the March 10, 2024 show. The ceremony will start at 4 p.m. Pt/7 p.m. Et — a welcome time change that began with the 96th Academy Awards last March. The show had typically run from 5 p.m./8 p.m. (and often much later depending on speeches).
Who Is Hosting The 2025 Oscars?
The host usually isn’t announced until November or December, but given the show is on ABC through 2028 and given Jimmy Kimmel’s well-received efforts earlier this month, he may well be back again. If so, it will be his fifth time hosting, putting him in company with the great Johnny Carson.
