Fascinated by the root causes of violent behavior, world renowned psychologist, Dr. Amanda Tyler, has an opportunity to interview and analyze death row inmate Jackson Shea. As the interview commences, and Jack’s fate hangs in the balance, Amanda must determine whether or not a stay of execution should be granted.

Every once in a blue moon a movie comes along toting a veteran actor who you can’t help but wonder how they got roped into such low-profile, amateurish garbage. Enter American Violence which somehow has Bruce Dern in it. Granted, he is only in the movie for roughly a combined 10 minutes, but still, it’s sad watching him reduced to such bargain bin quality after Quentin Tarantino gave

1990’s Death Warrant is often overlooked in the much-celebrated early (i.e. pre-Street Fighter) career of Jean-Claude Van Damme but thankfully the good folk at 101 Films have seen fit to give it a Blu-ray release to sit alongside their recent reissues of Black Eagle and A.W.O.L., which is a good chance to give this film another look.

French Canadian cop Louis Burke (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is on the trail of a serial killer known as The Sandman (Patrick KilpatrickClass of 1999), whom he tracks into a derelict building and

'Minority Report' TV Show Gets Pilot Order at Fox

'Minority Report' TV Show Gets Pilot Order at Fox
Fox has handed out the first pilot order of the season today for a TV series based on Steven Spielberg's 2002 sci-fi feature Minority Report. We first reported on the project back in September, when Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment hired Godzilla screenwriter Max Borenstein to write the pilot script. Kevin Falls has signed on to serve as the showrunner and executive produce alongside Steven Spielberg, Max Borenstein and Amblin TV's Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

The original film Minority Report centered on the Precrime unit in Washington D.C., where three "precogs" can see crimes before they are committed. Tom Cruise starred as John Anderton, who leads the Precrime unit before one of the precogs sees him committing a murder, as Anderton goes on the lam to clear his name. The series will be set 10 years after the end of Precrime in D.C., where one of the Precogs

Cinema's darkest and most unpredictable public service workers

The arrival of WolfCop inspires us to take a look back at horror cinema's most unpredictable janitors, doctors, dentists and more...

Can we necessarily trust the dentist who stands over us with a tiny drill in his hand? Isn't the guy who's come round to install our cable television service just a bit too friendly for comfort? And the cop outside in his squad car - isn't he just a little bit, I don't know, hairy?

Some of cinema's darkest, most unpredictable and downright interesting characters often have the most mundane jobs, from teachers to photo developers and taxi drivers to school janitors. It's characters like these we're saluting here - some of them villainous, others strangely likeable despite their dark activities, while others are simply misunderstood.

So here's our pick of the most terrifying public sector workers in horror cinema, inspired by the imminent release of WolfCop - director

Steven Spielberg Planning 'Minority Report' TV Show

Steven Spielberg Planning 'Minority Report' TV Show
Steven Spielberg has hired Godzilla writer Max Borenstein to create a TV series based on his 2002 sci-fi blockbuster Minority Report.

Minority Report starred Tom Cruise as Detective John Anderton, who runs the "Pre-Crime" unit in Washington D.C. that uses three psychics known as "precogs" to accurately predict crimes before they will happen, with arrests being made before the crime actually happens. The plot thickens when John is forced to go on the run after the precogs reveal he is about to commit murder.

The weekly series is said to focus on the elite Pre-Crime unit, with Steven Spielberg said to be eyeing a major star for the lead role, similar to how the producer lured Oscar winner Halle Berry to star in his CBS sci-fi series Extant.

20th Century Fox distributed Minority Report in 2002, which earned $358 million worldwide, but it's unclear whether or not the studio or the Fox

‘The Toxic Avenger’ Blu-ray Review (88 Films)

Stars: Mark Torgl, Mitch Cohen, Andree Maranda, Cindy Manion, Gary Schneider, Robert Prichard, Pat Ryan, Dick Martinsen, Patrick Kilpatrick | Written by Lloyd Kaufman, Joe Ritter | Directed by Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman (as Samuel Weil)

For those who haven’t seen The Toxic Avenger, first of all why not? (stop reading this review and go pre-order the Blu-ray now), it is essentially the film that made Troma. Having picked up numerous films for distribution and being predominantly known for sex comedies such as Squeeze Play, Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman decided to lense their own horror film and thus The Toxic Avenger was born; in turn Troma became known for campy, over the top, “horror” movies and the rest, they say, is history.

The film tells the story of Melvin Junko, a health club janitor who is the butt of a cruel joke that goes horribly wrong after he is tricked

The Dusty VHS Corner: Pm Entertainment

In the latest edition of The Dusty VHS Corner, Tom Jolliffe digs out a trio of actioners from Pm Entertainment…

Between 1989 and 2002, Pm Entertainment was a strong force in the straight to video action arena. Founded by directors Joseph Merhi and Richard Pepin, they set about trying to deliver big thrills on low budgets. At some stages, largely during a peak period in the mid-90’s, they managed to do that.

Certain stars would become synonymous with the company, and they largely worked with the same ethos as other bigger companies and action specialists, in that you need to have a name attached to sell your picture. Pm worked, sometimes repeatedly, with a slew of video action stars such as Gary Daniels, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Jack Scalia and Jeff Wincott.

Pm Entertainment would also work largely out of La. Whilst other rival companies decided Canada or Eastern

Take Your First Looks at The Zombinator

Writer/director Sergio Myers wants to introduce you to his new cult hero, The Zombinator. Currently seeking distribution, The Zombinator hopes to be coming to a theater near you very soon.

Described as Blair Witch meets Night of the Living Dead, the movie was created, directed and produced by Sergio Myers, who shot the entire picture in four and a half days…with no script. And considering those restrictions, we've gotta say Myers did a kick ass job judging by the film's trailer, which we have below.

The Most Overlooked Film of 2010

It just dawned on me today that I completely forgot about Parasomnia when I was doing my favorite films of the year. It really is tough to keep up on the many pictures I watch, and William Malone’s sleeper spectacle is one that I saw some time back. It is a blessing in disguise that I was absent-minded because it allows me to put his sleeping beauty fable in the spotlight. The irony is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland made some many critics worst list, whereas Parasomnia is Alice in Acidland and will make you forget than expensive blunder. Here is the interview I did with William Malone prior to the Blu-ray/DVD release of the flick.

Jason Bene: You are a huge devotee of the 1920 silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. How much of that style and vision can be seen in Parasomnia?

William Malone:
