'Star Wars: The Last Jedi': First Reactions to Episode VIII Are Here!
“This is not going to go the way you think.”

The first reactions to Star Wars: The Last Jedi are here and certainly echo Luke Skywalker’s standout line from The Last Jedi trailer.

The eighth installment of the Skywalker saga had its world premiere on Saturday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where attendees were the very first audience to screen The Last Jedi. While reviews are embargoed until Tuesday, Dec. 12, reactions and early buzz began pouring out on social media immediately following the screening.

A Wrinkle in Time director Ava Duvernay called the movie “superb storytelling” and a “total joy-ride through the galaxy.”

Taran Killam (in a holiday sweater) sweetly thanked The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, writing, “You took care of my childhood, and made my adulthood better.”

Logan director James Mangold congratulated Johnson on “dazzling writing and directing work” that allowed Johnson’s “own voice” to shine through.

‘Drunk History’: Derek Waters Previews Season 5 and Acknowledges the Insanity of Getting Oscar-Winning Guest Stars

‘Drunk History’: Derek Waters Previews Season 5 and Acknowledges the Insanity of Getting Oscar-Winning Guest Stars
Ten years after the invention of the “Drunk History” format, comedian Derek Waters is reconsidering how to describe the performers who get wasted, then narrate their take on a pivotal moment in history. “I want to start calling them ‘storytellers,'” he said. “It sounds more important. I think ‘narrator’ sounds like a voiceover actor.”

Indeed, the term “narrator” doesn’t quite do justice to what intoxicated celebrities bring to the series, which returned to television Tuesday night after nearly 13 months off the air.

Tuesday’s “Drunk History Christmas Special” will be followed by the show’s full return on January 23. It’s been a long time since new “Drunk History” episodes premiered, something Waters (who co-created the show with Jeremy Konner) acknowledged. “If I was a fan, I’m thinking the show’s over,” he said. “‘I thought you were dead.’ But that’s better like that than people going,

Highlights of Taran Killam’s Ama on Reddit

Taran Killam is an American actor, producer, and now director as well. In his latest endeavor, Killing Gunther, he brings together an impressive cast, including himself, to join forces against the world’s greatest hitman, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. It seems like the type of movie that might just be thrust into the public eye to gain attention and shine a spotlight on both Arnold’s need to remain an action star and Taran’s desire to break into directing to be honest. And truthfully, I think a lot of us are okay with that. After all seeing Arnold in action is what

Comedian Taran Killam Regrets Trump 'Endorsement' on 'SNL'

Comedian Taran Killam Regrets Trump 'Endorsement' on 'SNL'
Comedian Taran Killam still regrets playing a part in what he calls the "endorsement" of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in November 2015, when the real estate mogul hosted Saturday Night Live.

"In retrospect, for me – and it's mostly about my personal experience with it and how I feel about it, I think as time goes on, and our current president kind of reveals his character or lack thereof – I personally have a hard time of having been involved in the endorsement of that,' he told Conan O’Brien on Monday.

Movie Review: Killing Gunther

In the movie review business, you see films that make you think and inspire you to greater things. There are films that leave you with your jaw dropped in absolute shock and disgust, wondering how anyone would loan the filmmakers money to finish something so terrible. And then, there’s the stuff that makes you chuckle, even as you sit there and think of how silly and ridiculous it all is. Guess which category Killing Gunther lands in?

Taran Killam (one of the more recent Saturday Night Live (SNL) alumni to dip his toes in the movie waters) pulls triple duty as director, writer, and lead, playing Blake, a hitman who has hired a camera crew to document his journey to kill the best hitman on Earth, Gunther, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear at first. Along with a cadre of fellow hitmen (including fellow SNL player Bobby Moynihan), they feel victory is assured,

'Killing Gunther': Film Review

'Killing Gunther': Film Review
Only in his hilariously taunting online videos addressed to Donald Trump does Arnold Schwarzenegger seem to be having more fun than in Taran Killam's violence-infused mockumentary Killing Gunther. Playing the titular role of Gunther, a legendary hitman, the veteran action star clearly relishes the opportunity to sing country music, pose in lederhosen and deliver such lines as "My cappuccino is to die for." Unfortunately, Schwarzenegger doesn’t show up until more than an hour into this relentlessly unfunny comedy, and by then, viewers may have tuned out long before.

The film marks the directorial debut of former Saturday Night Live performer...

Donald Trump Hosting ‘SNL’ Was “Embarrassing And Shameful,” Taran Killam Says

NBC and Lorne Michaels took no small amount of heat when then-candidate Donald Trump hosted Saturday Night Live in 2015. Now a former longtime SNL regular is speaking out about that night and how he continues to feel about it. Taran Killam, who often played Trump on SNL pre-Alec Baldwin, had some choice comments when asked in a radio interview about the future Potus taking the Studio 8H stage as protesters made big noise outside 30 Rock. “It was rough,” Killam told NPR…

Taran Killam Says It Was 'Rough' Having Donald Trump Host 'Saturday Night Live'

Taran Killam Says It Was 'Rough' Having Donald Trump Host 'Saturday Night Live'
Taran Killam's experience working with Donald Trump when the then-presidential candidate hosted Saturday Night Live in November 2015 was "rough," to say the least.

"It was not enjoyable at the time and something that only grows more embarrassing and shameful as time goes on," the former SNL cast member said in a recent interview with NPR. "I don't necessarily put so much weight into [the idea of] Trump hosting SNL helping him to become president, but there's definitely something where it normalizes him and it makes it Ok for him to be part of the conversation.

Review: Killing Gunther

Plot: A motley crew of assassins team-up to take down the world’s greatest hit-man, Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Review: Writer-director-star Taran Killam has his heart in the right place. 12 Hilarious Times the Saturday Night Live Cast Couldn't Help But Laugh
Despite their best efforts, the professionals at Saturday Night Live find themselves laughing right along with us every now and then. It’s such a storied tradition that Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler even sang a song about breaking during the show’s 40th anniversary special.

Although the performers are supposed to avoid it at all costs, getting the giggles during sketches has led to some of the funniest moments in SNL history, so we’re looking back at some of those classic crack-ups that still get us every time.

Darrell Hammond Reflects on Losing His Donald Trump Gig on ‘SNL’: ‘I Just Started Crying’

Darrell Hammond Reflects on Losing His Donald Trump Gig on ‘SNL’: ‘I Just Started Crying’
Before Alec Baldwin, there was Darrell Hammond. The longtime “Saturday Night Live” cast member has been one of the show’s best-known impressionists for more than two decades, sending up the likes of Bill Clinton, Sean Connery, and yes, Donald Trump. Last September, however, he received word that he would no longer be impersonating the then–presidential candidate — and it broke him.

Hammond recalls the experience in a lengthy Washington Post profile, recalling how devastated he was with great candor. “I just started crying,” he says. “In front of everyone. I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock, and I stayed in shock for a long time. Everything wiped out. The brand, me, what I do. Corporate appearances canceled. It was a hell of a shock, and all of it was apparent to me in one breath.
