'Devdas,' directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, took the No. 8 spot and was the only Indian film on the list, which was published in May.

Corliss described Khan as an "all-world charismatist" and Madhuri as "a hot number who had danced flamenco on men's libidos for a decade or so before appearing in this worldly-wise role."
"'Devdas' is a visual ravishment, with sumptuous sets, fabulous frocks and beautiful people to fill them; it has a grandeur the old Hollywood moguls would have loved," Corliss wrote.

The Hindi film industry is clearly gaining momentum on an international stage as the 2002 hit Devdas is honored by Time Magazine, who last week released a list of the greatest movies of the millennium, thus far.
Hollywood movie critic Richard Corliss compiled a list of the 10 greatest films made since the year 2000 and lists the Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer at number eight, calling the film a “visually intoxicating musical” that introduced “sang-and-danced Bollywood drama to the international culturati.”
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali believes the honor is well-timed, almost 10 years after the film’s initial release. “For a mainstream Hindi film like Devdas to gain such a cinematic recognition and be a part of such an illustrious list is an honor, not just for me but for [the] Indian film industry at large,” Bhansali told reporters. The movie, which was the most expensive production of its time, was also »

In a surprising development, megastar Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s wax statues will not be appearing at the World Tour of Madame Tussauds Bollywood Superstar Collection.
However, statues of four other superstars namely Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, will be traveling to Hong Kong and Bangkok among other world cities to be announced shortly, as part of the museum’s plan to tap the Bollywood fan base at these places, reports Daily Mail.
At Hong Kong, the statues will be showcased in the museum’s World Premiere Zone alongside the wax figure of Amitabh Bachchan. Since Big B already has a wax statue in Hong Kong, his statue at London won’t be traveling to the Asian city, the report adds.
“It’s just been a little over four years, when Salman’s wax statue was inaugurated with much fanfare at Madame Tussauds. »

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit managed a rare feat when noted film critic Richard Corliss included the film in Time magazine's list of 10 best films of the millennium. Devdas, which features at No. 8 in this elite list, shares the platform with films like Moulin Rouge, Avatar, Wall E, The Lord Of The Rings and The Hurt Locker.
In his praise for Devdas, Corliss says, "The piece is played with such commitment that the tritest plot twists seem worth believing - and dancing to, in nine nifty production numbers. But the fervid emotion is what makes the thing sing. Beyond that, Devdas is a visual ravishment, with sumptuous sets, fabulous frocks and beautiful people to fill them; it has a grandeur the old Hollywood moguls would have loved."

'Don 2' (2011)
Starring Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Boman Irani, Om Puri
Remakes and sequels are always hard to pull off well. Director/writer Farhan Akhtar did so with aplomb with the remake 'Don: The Chase Begins Again' (2006) and failed miserably with its sequel, 'Don 2.' The remake starred Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, who returned for the sequel, but their original pop is not reprised.
Akhtar, who helmed and penned the acclaimed 'Dil Chahta Hai' (2001) and 'Lakshya' (2004), took the 1978 cult classic 'Don' and rivaled the Bond franchise with his result. Akhtar directed no films between the first 'Don' and the second, but branched out into acting—and an excellent actor he is—with 'Rock On!!' (2008), 'Luck By Chance' (2009), 'Karthik Calling Karthik' (2010), and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' (2011). And perhaps acting is where his passion now lies, »
