Sonam to meet Big B in theaters - Plans stay on for Dolly Ki Doli and Shamitabh clash

23 August 2014 6:50 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

This could well be a David v/s Goliath moment for Sonam Kapoor but then it is happening indeed. Sonam Kapoor, whose film Dolly Ki Doli was fixed quite some time back for release on February 6, recently had an unexpected competitor in the form of Amitabh Bachchan, what with his Shamitabh also being fixed for the same date. However, contrary to what one may assume, her film is sticking to its release plans. "That's right, Dolly Ki Doli won't make any shift from the original plan," says a source connected to the film, "We had planned for the release long time back and now if Shamitabh has decided to arrive on the same date, so be it. In any case, it would be impractical to assume that you would have a solo release on your platter. If not Shamitabh, some other film would have come up. Even if we arrive »

With Salman’s Kick, Sajid creates record for a debutant director

31 July 2014 11:05 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Kick is a blockbuster, and it is just a matter of profits that it makes from this point on. Now that the statement has been made, let’s come down to some bare facts. First and foremost, the film has managed to score its first week in the excess of 160 crore. Now that’s next only to Dhoom 3 which had a first week reading of 189 crore. Just like the Aamir Khan starrer, even Kick was an event release. However, Dhoom 3 was third in the series of a super popular franchise with a superstar who makes selective appearances. Here, Salman was coming barely six months after Jai Ho and that too in a ‘masala’ genre. Nevertheless, many other records have been created in just a week’s time period. This is now seventh straight Salman Khan century, hence taking forward the winning streak that started with Dabangg. Secondly, Sajid Nadiadwala now »

Kick has no competition for yet another week

30 July 2014 9:16 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

For the first time in 2014, there would be no new releases this weekend. It is primarily Kick mania due to which all theaters are happy to continue screening the film at full capacity with no room made available for any other flick. Now this is surprising because usually at least small budget or B-grade films do manage to find a slot after a biggie’s arrival. However, even that is not happening this time around which further establishes the fact that the film has been well accepted by the audience and hence a good second week is guaranteed too. With the first week of Kick looking at bringing in over 150 crore, all eyes are on whether the second week would hold on well enough to help the Salman Khan starrer cross 200 crore mark. Moreover, while Sajid Nadiadwala is now already the debutant director with the highest grosser ever (he has »

Salman’s Kick set to create record for debutant director Sajid Nadiadwala

24 July 2014 4:10 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Huge numbers are being thrown around when it comes to Kick. 70 crore, 80 crore, 90 crore, 100 crore is being suggested when it comes to bets being placed for the opening weekend of the film. “Real fun would begin on the day of Eid and beyond, hence keeping the weekdays super strong too,” is another line of thought that is emerging in a major way. “200 crore is a given for the film, it is a matter of how much more does it go on to earn”, according to what quite a few optimists believe. What no one is denying is that the film would take a tremendous opening at the box office and shatter quite a few records. The first one that it would be sighting is to surpass 150 crore record of Ek Tha Tiger, albeit that was achieved in 9 days. However, business has increased in last couple of years and hence one »

She used to get into marital-hood and then run away with all the money and other valuables on first night itself. This continued for many months and no one could gather even a hint of where she came from and then disappeared," informs our source. When Sonam Kapoor was narrated these incidents, »
