Cartoon Network Sets Premiere Date for New Powerpuff Girls Special

16 December 2013 2:02 PM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

It’s been nearly a year since we told you that Cartoon Network had announced a “brand-new, redesigned and re-imagined CG” Powerpuff Girls special as part of its 2013 lineup. Well it turns out they were only off on the date by a month, because today Cartoon Network announced that “Dance Pantsed”, the title for The Powerpuff Girls special, has been set for January 20, 2014, and that a five hour marathon of the girls’ previous adventures would air the day before.

“Redesigned and reimagined CG” makes me nervous, but the fact that the original voice actors have returned makes me very very happy. Here are the details, which include seemingly everything but the all-important screenshot; I guess we’ll have to keep waiting for those visuals.

Den Of Geek Sep 16, 2016

We get the chance to interview famous people every now and them. We ask them their favourite Statham movie. Here's what happens...

Jason Statham. Since the dawn of Den Of Geek, he has been our muse. Our mayor. Our driving force. So much so, that we ask lots of people that we meet just what their favourite Statham movie is (including the man himself). Here, we've gathered together lots of the responses we've had in one document.

And so here it is:

Jason Segel: "I guess it would have to be… oh man, there are so many. I’m going to go with The Transporter!"

Seth Rogen: "Crank. And then Crank 2."

Evan Goldberg: "It was him in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, right? That’s the best one."

Alice Lowe: "I've never seen any of his films..... Oh I did! »

"Frozen," "Monsters University" Top Annie Awards Nominations!

3 December 2013 1:17 PM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.

I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.

Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.

2013 Annie Award Nominations

Emily S. Whitten: “I Know That Voice” Premiere(s)!

12 November 2013 5:00 AM, PST | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

How often does one get to go to both the West and East Coast premieres of a movie – if you’re not involved in it, that is? Probably not that often. But I just did, and that was pretty darned cool. This past week, I got to experience the world premiere of I Know That Voice at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood; and then two days later, the East Coast premiere of the voice acting documentary at The National Press Club right here in D.C.

If you read my columns at all, you’ll know I’m a big fan of the talents of the voiceover industry and of this documentary. So it was a ton of fun to go to the world premiere, because literally 80% of the extensive cast was in attendance, and everyone was really happy to be there.

It was fun to watch the red »

Brand New ‘Rocky And Bullwinkle’ Animated Short On The Way

4 November 2013 3:30 PM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Rocky and Bullwinkle are often viewed as not only some of the most beloved but also some of the most well known animated characters of all time. This year the original series The Rocky And Bullwinkle Show was voted the sixth greatest animated television show of all time by TV Guide. So it seems fitting that Dreamworks Animation have announced plans to produce a brand new short featuring the characters that will be released next year.

Its strange to think that the last time we saw these characters was in the live action film adaptation that was released in 2000, despite the fact that movie theaters have been practically flooded with animated films and adaptations of other cartoons ever since. Having said this the 2000 film received incredibly mixed reviews from critics and didn’t fare too much better at the box office either. The new animated short will bring back June Foray as Rocket J. »

DreamWorks Animation Plans Rocky & Bullwinkle Short

4 November 2013 10:38 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

The last time someone tried to bring Jay Ward's cult cartoon characters Rocky and Bullwinkle to the screen, the result was the less-than-successful 2000 flopbuster, which all involved – particularly Robert De Niro – would probably rather forget. DreamWorks Animation will be hoping for better luck with an animated short film aimed for release sometime next year.Featuring the original voice of Rocket “Rocky” J. Squirrel, June Foray, and SpongeBob’s Tom Kenny as moose pal Bullwinkle, the new short is most likely tied to the release of DreamWorks’ Mr. Peabody And Sherman, which utilises the moose and the squirrel’s cartoon stable mates (see the latest trailer below). No information has been released about the plot, but it'll probably see our heroes going up against villains such as Cold War troublemakers Boris and Natasha. We do, however, know that Beauty And The Beast’s Gary Trousdale will direct from a script »

DreamWorks Animation Has New 'Rocky & Bullwinkle' Short for 2014

4 November 2013 8:49 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Next year, DreamWorks Animation is bringing the short cartoon Mr. Peabody & Sherman to the big screen in a feature length animated film. The shorts were originally part of "The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show," and now the squirrel and moose duo are also getting revived. The animation studio has just announced creation of a new short that will bring back Rocky & Bullwinkle along with their adversaries Boris and Natasha. June Foray will return as the iconic voice of Rocket J. Squirrel and "Spongebob Squarepants" himself, Tom Kenny, will provide the voice of Bullwinkle J. Moose in the animated short arriving in 2014. However, we're not sure if this short will play exclusively in front of Mr. Peabody & Sherman or if it might accompany other family friendly films in order to promote the release of the DreamWorks Animation film on March 7th, 2014. The press release does say some other familiar faces will show up in the short, »

DreamWorks Animation Developing Rocky & Bullwinkle Short for 2014

The last attempt to bring Rocky & Bullwinkle to the screen, 2000's live-action adaptation starring Jason Alexander, Rene Russo, and Robert De Niro, was disastrous to say the least.  According to Variety, DreamWorks Animation will be bringing the flying squirrel and his moose friend back to their animated roots with an animated short film.  June Foray, who originated the voice of Rocket J. Squirrel in the 1959 TV series, will return and be joined by SpongeBob SquarePants voice actor Tom Kenny (the original voice of Bullwinkle Moose, Bill Scott, died in 1985).  It's exciting news until you learn that The Pacifier and Night at the Museum writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant are handling the script. There's no word if the short film will be ready in time to coincide with the release of DreamWorks Animation's Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which opens March 7, 2014.  In a fun side note, Mr. Peabody & Sherman was »
