Stars: Nicholas D’Agosto, Arielle Kebbel, Regina Hall, Bret Harrison, Josh Gad, Danneel Harris, Carmen Electra | Written by Josh Heald | Directed by Phil Dornfeld
Three college pals, depressed with their current social situation, decide to venture to New Orleans in pursuit of the happiness that has thus far eluded them – boobs, beads and brews. What could go possibly go wrong?
Mardi Gras, also know as Mardi Gras: Spring Break in the Us, has quietly snuck out onto DVD here in the UK with no fanfare whatsoever (I couldn’t even find the UK DVD box art for this review!) whilst American Reunion has has a huge marketing push and a theatrical release. The difference between the two? The budget. In other words, Mardi Gras is just as good as it’s gross-out comedy big-screen counterpart and features a cast that it just as likeable – in fact I’d »

There are more film festivals and music festivals out there than we care to count, but here at Zap2it, our hearts are in the TV business -- which is why we are so flippin' excited to attend the first annual Atx Festival, a television-a-palooza in Austin, Texas.
Featuring tons of our small screen faves, Atx Festival doesn't discriminate against underrated or canceled shows. "Life Unexpected" will have a major presence at the event, with creator Liz Tigelaar on hand to answer questions and stars Arielle Kebbel, Britt Roberston, and Shiri Appleby in the house to reminisce with us. "One Tree Hill" creator Mark Schwahn is attending, along with the ever-swoonworthy James Lafferty.
We're particularly psyched for a "Friday Night Lights" party with a screening attended by executive producers Jason Katims and David Hudgins, along with cast members like Scott Porter, Michael B. Jordan, Matt Lauria, Gaius Charles, Alicia Witt, »

Written by Daniel Schetcher and Tarik Lowe
Directed by Daniel Schetcher
USA, 2012
Nick (Alex Karpovsky)and Darryl (Tarik Lowe) work as an editing team. They’ve been hired to polish a substandard romantic comedy. Over the course of the project, Nick meets Jaime (Arielle Kebbel), the star of the film, and the two plunge headfirst into a playful but not altogether harmless flirtation. This unexpected development complicates Nick’s commitment to his adorable fiancée Amy (Sophia Takal). Meanwhile, Darryl must contend with the extreme highs and lows of a fledgling romance with his highly emotional love interest, Liana (Melonie Diaz). And to compound all this, Nick and Darryl’s perfect partnership gets tested when Nick receives a job offer, but the budget on the new film isn’t big enough to accommodate an assistant editor.
Supporting Characters succeeds where a lot of industry films of this type fail by keeping it simple. »

What fascinates about “Supporting Characters,” the new relationship comedy premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, is that it’s greatest strength also registers as its most notable weakness. This decidedly Noo Yawk tale of an editing team in New York City and their satellite friends wouldn’t be at home as an extended pilot on IFC, with these two best friend leads getting into all sorts of middle-aged male troubles. It’s good, and bad, just like TV.
Darryl (co-writer Tarik Lowe) and Nick (Alex Karpovsky) are two movie editors trying to rescue yet another banal middlebrow indie picture from what looks, from a distance, like future distributor-less VOD hell. They share a considerable shorthand, one that makes them closer to each other than they are with their respective girlfriends. Nick withstands the chastisement of his 9-to-5 fiancee (Sophia Takal) and Darryl tries to navigate the chasm between himself and »

As films about film go, Daniel Schechter‘s Supporting Characters is relatively low-fi stuff. Concerning an editor named Nick (Alex Karpovsky), his assistant editor Darryl (Tarik Lowe) and the duo’s attempt to save a film as well as their personal relationships, the film, while a tad recycled, slowly grows into a comfortable, relatable piece.
Taking severely from Albert Brooks’ seminal rom-com Modern Romance, Schechter knows what works and what doesn’t. The majority of the film relies of Karpovsky’s natural knack for comedic timing, Lowe serving as a more-than-capable sidekick who longs to be much more than that.
We watch Nick navigate long-term girlfriend Amy (Sophia Takal) and the idea that a more attractive, more famous girl – the star of the film to be exact (played by Arielle Kebbel) - might be interested in him. Meanwhile, Darryl is too excited about a new relationship with a domineering girlfriend »

Director Daniel Schechter is currently working on "Switch," a prequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Jackie Brown" that has Jennifer Aniston, Dennis Quaid, John Hawkes and Mos Def on board to star. He is also set to premiere "Supporting Characters" at Tribeca Film Festival this Friday (April 20th). "Supporting Characters," which quickly sold out its first three screenings, has a cast comprised of Alex Karpovsky and Lena Dunham, the stars of HBO's "Girls," plus Tarik Lowe, Arielle Kebbel, Melonie Diaz and Kevin Corrigan. The story revolves around two New York film editors balancing their personal relationships while reworking a movie in crisis. We had the chance to catch up with Schechter, who not only sent us an exclusive clip from "Supporting Characters" and answered a few questions about "Switch," but also gave some advice regarding developing independent films. Check everything out below. Exclusive Clip: Daniel Schechter Interview: Q. How did the »

Daniel Schechter always wanted to make movies and believes his desire to communicate is best served by his skills as a filmmaker. He calls "Supporting Characters" a significant departure from his previous films ("The Big Bad Swim" and "Goodbye Baby") because of its semi-autobiographical nature. While writing the script with friend and star Tarik Lowe, what started as a standard rom-com became more alive when they "kept cherry-picking moments directly from our personal lives." Schechter got his "top personal choice for every single role," including: Alex Karpovsky (HBO's "Girls"), Arielle Kebbel ("90210"), Kevin Corrigan ("The Departed"), Sophia Takal ("Green"), Melonie Diaz ("Be Kind Rewind"), Lena Dunham ("Tiny Furniture") & Tarik Lowe ("Blue Bloods"). What it's about: It's a comedy about two best friends, who are film editors in NYC, »

The Vampire Diaries 3.16 "1912" Review
The Vampire Diaries sure knows how to return with a bang as this episode proved with flashbacks to 1912 and revealing who the recent killer is. Flashback episodes are always fun as we get to find out what led these characters to where they are now and this one was no exception as it focused on the relationship between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). These reviews have previously waxed lyrical about family being the heart of this show and the Damon and Stefan dynamic being one of the most compelling and this episode had all of these brilliant elements.
The motives for wanting to look to the past was all thanks to Alaric's (Matt Davis) incarceration after he allegedly tried to attack Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) and so Damon is down a drinking partner and best friend. If they look to the past they can find »

Does this girl have a death wish? If she was smart, Vanessa wouldn't be messing with the two loose cannons on '90210.' I never thought I'd see the day when someone on 90210 was actually able to out-crazy Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes), but that's exactly what happened on the March 13 episode. And the psycho supreme turned out to be none other than Vanessa (Arielle Kebbel), who literally smashed her head into a mirror and accused Ade of attacking her. Your move, Adrianna. Vanessa's little stunt also caused Adrianna to be detained by security, and therefore unable to perform with Dixon (Tristan Wilds) before their first big audience. Fortunately, he wowed the crowd -- and a charming record executive, played by Miz Latoya Jackson -- and he may have scored himself a record deal. Too bad Adrianna was left out of the deal! (That whole story line has "Jimmy and Ashley" written all over it. »

I Melt With You Four old college friends (Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Christian McKay, Jeremy Piven) get together annually for a drug-fueled weekend, but their latest reunion finds each of them at the lowest point of their lives. If you’ve seen the exclusive pictures we posted from tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, then you know that we’re in for a heavy dose of romantic tension between Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev), and Stefan (Paul Wesley), as well as Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
But when I spoke to executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson for this week’s cover story (be honest, how many times have you ogled the images?), I couldn’t help but ask them about another potential pairing: Stefan and Caroline.
I know what you’re thinking. »

Arielle Kebbel has admitted that she would love to return to The Vampire Diaries in the future. Kebbel has appeared in several episodes of the show as Lexi, a vampire friend of Stefan (Paul Wesley) who was killed by Damon but reappeared as a ghost earlier this season. Kebbel has now told TV Line that she would love the chance to appear on the show again. "I would love, love, love to have Lexi pop up again," she said. Kebbel also revealed that (more) »

Seriously, Vanessa is about two episodes away from getting run over. I can hear Annie revving that engine as I type. Naomi's (AnnaLynne McCord) first event-planning gig turned out to be a real bitch -- literally -- on the Feb. 7 episode of 90210, when she had to throw a sweet 16 party for Mitchell's (Will Kemp) vampire-obsessed daughter Carla. But the real surprise came when Naomi pulled the plug on the party because it was getting too out of hand. It's like our slutty little baby is growing up right before our eyes! Meanwhile, Vanessa (Arielle Kebbel) booked Liam (Matt Lanter) on a talk show in an attempt to launch his career in Hollywood -- but it hit a slight snag when he was required to do more than just look beautiful. Because we all know he's got that down to a science. Fortunately, Liam got a second chance at stardom when »

Question: Any good Glee scoop!? —Nathan
Ausiello: It’s good if you enjoyed Ricky Martin’s guest appearance in tonight’s episode (and how could you not), because sources confirm to me exclusively that you will see his character, Dave Martinez, again — possibly as early as spring. Producers, who wisely left not just a window but a door open for the return of his Spanish teacher, have invited him back on a recurring (and potentially series regular) basis. »

If The CW was going to have a poster child, hands down, Arielle Kebbel would have to be it. Not only is she an alumna of The Vampire Diaries (as Lexi) and Life Unexpected (as Paige) and even Gilmore Girls (as Dean’s wife, Lindsay!), she’s now got herself a juicy new role on 90210. And, she tells TVLine, there’s much, much more than meets the eye to her latest character, Vanessa.
Tvline | I think we like Vanessa at this point, but this is 90210, so I have to imagine that the other shoe is about to drop.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we are going to throw at you, from shows including Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and The Office!
1 | Who has already placed their order for the Chuck DVD set featuring an extended, 52-minute series finale?
2 | Was there a more satisfying moment on The Good Wife than watching a flustered Wendy Scott-Carr scramble to keep her case against Will from going up in flames? And that was the best episode of the season, right?

Who do You think should fear the reaper? Peruse my theories & cast your vote! America's brightest zip code is about to go dark -- for one week, anyway. The cast of 90210 was spotted filming funeral scenes Feb. 1 in Los Angeles, and several recurring characters were curiously absent from the shoot: cancer-stricken Raj (Manish Dayal), bad-girl Vanessa (Arielle Kebbel) and newly incarcerated Austin (Justin Deeley). Any theories? I've got, oh, a billion. My gut is telling me two things: "Put food in me" and "it's Raj." Considering viewers were led to believe he was dying last season, and his cancer has only gotten more serious, he's unfortunately sitting atop my list of suspects. (Counterpoint: It's been noted that this "doesn't look like a typical Hindu funeral," and considering they went in that direction for Raj's wedding, it's safe to assume they'd also do so with the funeral. Thanks, Sunny Jacob!) Vanessa's death, »
