Do not read on unless you've seen Season 5, Episode 11 of AMC's "Mad Men," entitled "The Other Woman."
The latest episode of "Mad Men" (Sun., 10 p.m. Et on AMC) featured a sleazy exchange between the men from Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce ad agency and Herb, a client from Jaguar.
How far would the ad men go to keep a valuable client like Herb happy? Would they even agree to prostitute one of their female employees for the sake of a business deal?
Herb had taken a shine to Joan (Christina Hendricks) and wanted to spend the night with her. Desperate to keep Jaguar's business, Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) tried to sell the plan to Joan.
Perhaps surprisingly, Joan vacillated between being offended and intrigued by the offer and eventually made a decision that would have repercussions for everyone concerned.

Last week's Mad Men saw the rebirth of Don (Jon Hamm) as a man on a mission to land Jaguar. Is the fierce ad man we know back in business? And why does Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) want Joan (Christina Hendricks) to compromise her morals for a big account? Find out now: What We Learned Selling Sex and Secretaries: Pete is apparently a pimp now. He is all gung-ho about the idea of renting Joan out to a greasy old man to land an account. Thank the lord that Don at least has the decency to act appalled about the whole idea. But Joan ends up with 5 percent and a bad decision to get ahead. We are so shocked and we must say, dismayed. The Emmy Award winning series currently in it's fifth season stars Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss and Vincent Kartheiser. It plays exclusively on AMC with the next episode set to air Sunday May 27th. Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell. The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The »

(Warning: significant spoilers follow)
Well, you knew it was only a matter of time before Star Trek got mentioned on this show. I wasn’t at all surprised to hear the series get a shout-out, but I was somewhat surprised at the context and who was behind it.
Let’s start, though, by talking about Lane (Jared Harris). It seems Inland Revenue wants a cut of the money he’s been making overseas; a cut to the tune of about 2,900 pounds. Lane doesn’t have this kind of scratch lying about the house, so he has to think of a plan.
First we see him extending the firm’s line of credit and then telling everyone at the board meeting that they can use that as a Christmas bonus. Problem solved, except that Burt (Robert Morse) wants to hold off until the office Christmas party. Lane tries to object, but »

Mad Men 5.10 "Christmas Waltz" Review
It is December 1966 in Mad Men and unlike the last Christmas period we saw things are more financially stable for Scdp. The firm is not a powerhouse nor is it teetering on the edge of oblivion, but that doesn't mean that all of the characters are in a comfortable financial position as we see in the opening sequence as Lane (Jared Harris) discusses his impending doom on the phone. Lane is a character that we have seen little of since his dust up with Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) and so this storyline is a welcome return even if Lane's actions were rather dubious and will likely have some major consequences. Joan (Christina Hendricks) is another character who has been a bit player over the past few weeks, but this episode more than makes up for this.
Lane needs funds quickly due to what appears to be »

With three episodes left of Season 5, the tension on "Mad Men" shifted into high gear on Sunday's (May 20) episode, "Christmas Waltz." Here's the one-sentence summary: Don Draper's head is back in the game, Lane Pryce is dancing on the edge of financial ruin (and possibly a precipice) and it turns out that Harry Crane, official Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce d-bag, isn't a total tool after all.
Don's back: At the end of the episode, Don (Jon Hamm) re-engaged in the work of Scdp and it's a good thing because if Don's happy, so goes the firm. What convinced him? A domino effect: Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) suggested Don drive a Jaguar. Thanks to Joan (Christina Hendricks), drunk-driving a Jaguar sports car gets him fired up about the product. Finally, an irate Megan (Jessica Paré) -- who gets his attention by throwing her dinner plate at the wall and ordering him to »

It’s no secret no one has any idea what’s going to happen next on Mad Men — and those “scenes from next week” aren’t going to clue you in at all. But the most notoriously tight-lipped cast couldn’t resist sharing a few personal details when Jon Hamm, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Jared Harris, and creator Matthew Weiner visited James Lipton at the famed Actors Studio (Elisabeth Moss was shooting a movie out of the country).
Below are five of the most tantalizing bits of info we learned in the hour-long broadcast.

James Lipton took several of the castmembers and "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner "Inside the Actors Studio" (7 p.m. Et on Bravo). It was the largest cast Lipton had ever assembled. Joining Weiner on stage were Jon Hamm, Jared Harris, Christina Hendricks, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Kiernan Shipka, and John Slattery.
Shipka was only allowed to be on stage during certain discussions, just as she admitted she's only able to watch the scenes that she's a part of. The show is, after all, a little adult. That didn't stop her from stealing the show with her charm with almost every moment she was on the stage.
This was also the source of that infamous comment that Jon Hamm almost didn't get the part of Don Draper, because some executives didn't think he was quite sexy enough. As mentioned on Digital Spy, sexy is a description Hamm has never quite gotten comfortable with, »

TV fans were shocked last week to see actress Alexis Bledel, who played the adolescent Rory Gilmore on "Gilmore Girls," looking all grown up on "Mad Men" (Sundays at 9 p.m. Et on AMC)... and having a twisted affair with Pete Campbell.
In an interview with AMCtv.com, Bledel talked about taking on the role of Beth Dawes, and breaking away from Rory.
Bledel described her character Beth, who's stuck in a bad marriage with Pete's commuting friend, as "quite mysterious and conflicted." She says her character isn't crazy, or "hysterical," as Pete described her, but rather, "depressed," even though "at that time, people did see them more as one and the same."
She also talked about tackling something considerably darker than the "Gilmore Girls" character that made her famous. "We all have moments of intense sadness in our lives ... [Beth] is not the type of person that's afraid to explore her darker thoughts, »

Mad Men 5.09 "Dark Shadows" Review
While the title of this episode of Mad Men could be perfect timing for the new Johnny Depp movie that was released this weekend (and is based on a TV show that debuted in 1966) it has much less to do with pop culture and more to do with what threats are lurking. This darkness is real and imaginary as light or the absence of it is used to highlight insecurities and challenges.
The episode opens with Betty (January Jones) making a snack in the dark; is this a snack because she didn't eat much for her real dinner? This is only the second time that Betty has appeared this season and she is slightly slimmer than when we last saw her, but there is still a major issue with food and control. Betty has always had food problems; when she was with Don she barely »

“I’m thankful that I have everything I want, and that no one else has anything better.” Those are the final words spoken in tonight’s episode. Bonus points to you if you can guess who says them without having watched the episode. If you can’t, well, I’ll tell you at the end.
Tonight’s episode is called “Dark Shadows,” and lest you think that’s just a cute reference to the recently released (and apparently not very good), Tim Burton film, think again. It’s that, but it also, believe it or not, refers to the TV series that was airing at the time this show takes place. Oh, and also I’m sure there’s some subtle imagery about dark shadows gathering, yadda-yadda.
There was much that happened in this particular story, including Betty (January Jones) attempting to »

Creator Matthew Weiner, who was also along for the trip, explains in the clip below why Hamm (who plays the dashing Don Draper) had to audtion six or seven times for the part: "Someone said that he wasn't sexy."

So the most recent episode of Mad Men was quite a thing. Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) did several stupid things while Megan (Jessica Pare) did one very smart thing. Time will tell on what the fallout of these things were.
Let’s start with Pete. We find him first riding a train home and chatting with an insurance salesman he’s become acquainted with. Turns out the man is, among other things, cheating on his wife, which is pretty much par for the course for this series.
Anyhow, the next evening, Pete (toting a set of skis. Don’t ask), gets off the train to find the man’s wife, Beth, waiting for her husband. She knows he’s probably not going to actually arrive, but since he has the car keys she needs to get home, she’s in a bit of a bind. »
