Lieutenant Doug Mercer

Appeared on a play in 1953 called "Flame-Out." A comedy-drama written and directed by Alan Mowbray. The play was presented for nearly a year at various Air Force bases enacted by an all-soldier cast. It starred Karns, Jack Lord and Harry Carey, Jr., all who received excellent reviews for their performances in Flame-Out.

Moved to Ajijic, Mexico in 1971 and started up an English language theater, The Lakeside Little Theater, where he produced and directed shows up until his death at age 79.
The most famous line he ever spoke in a film - "To my big brother George, the richest man in town" (said near the end of "It's a Wonderful Life").
