Chicago Pd: Season Two Ratings

Last season, based on the second season success of Chicago Fire, NBC ordered a spin-off, Chicago Pd. It ended up being the network's fifth-highest rated scripted series of the season. Will the ratings rise or fall in season two? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

Chicago Pd follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's District 21 who purse the perpetrators of major street crimes. The series features the talents of Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Sophia Bush, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, Laroyce Hawkins, Archie Kao, Amy Morton, Brian Geraghty, and Elias Koteas.

Easternlight picks up Annie Yi’s The Queens

Arclight Films’ Asian label, Easternlight Films, has picked up international rights to The Queens, directed by and starring Taiwanese singer and actress Annie Yi.

Produced by Beijing-based Desen International Media, the romantic comedy also stars Korean actress Song Hye Kyo and Chinese actress Vivian Wu. Chinese release is scheduled for November 7.

The film follows three cosmopolitan women, an actress, a PR specialist and a gallery manager, all wrestling with the ups and downs of their romantic lives. “We want to present the mystery, desires, sorrows and pain in urban relationships”” said Desen’s Ann An. “The motto for women from the film is ‘Don’t be a slave, and don’t be a queen, just be yourself’. The characters go through the transformation from ‘being a queen’ to purely ‘being themselves’.”

Toronto: Arclight Films to Distribute Chinese Thriller ‘Deathday Party’

Arclight Films will handle international distribution on “The Deathday Party,” a Chinese psychological crime thriller that stars American-born Chinese thesp Archie Kao.

He stars opposite Anita Yuen as a couple fighting to save themselves and their daughter from demons of the past.

The picture is the feature debut of New Zealand-born writer-director Eddie Tse. Amos Xue produced.

“ ‘Deathday Party’ represents a new breed of Chinese film that takes on Hollywood-style concepts. The film is set entirely in an imaginary city in the U.S. and all of its combined concepts make it a breakthrough film that will drive its sales potential all around the world,” said Arclight’s Elliot Tong.

The film is presented by Brightstar Cinema, China Film Co., Hengdian Movies Co., Orange Sky Golden Harvest Entertainment Co. and Emei Film Group Co. Huayi Bros. will release the film in China; Arclight sold the pic to Hong Kong distributor My Way Films. »

Arclight sells The Deathday Party

Arclight Films has taken on worldwide rights to the Chinese psychological crime thriller starring Archie Kao from Michael Mann’s upcoming Blackhat.

Head of Asian sales and acquisitions Elliot Tong has licensed Hong Kong rights to My Way Films and is in talks with buyers here.

Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen and Xiong Naijin also star in Eddie Tse’s directorial debut about a woman who is abducted and sent to a cave where she and other strangers must take part in a murderous game. Kao is pictured.

The Deathday Party is presented by Brightstar Cinema, China Film Co, Hengdian Movies, Orange Sky Golden Harvest and Emei Film Group. Amos Xue is the producer. »

Michael Mann's Cyber has revealed a first look picture.

Chris Hemsworth features in the still from the international heist thriller alongside co-star Holt McCallany (via ScreenWeek).

Hemsworth will star as a man serving time for cyber crime.

He is offered his freedom in return for his help in hunting down a criminal using the methods he developed.

The hunt takes them across the globe from Chicago to Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

Viola Davis, Archie Kao and William Mapother will also feature in film.

Cyber will be released on January 16, 2015 in the Us and February 20, 2015 in the UK. »

First Look: Michael Mann’s Crime Thriller ‘Cyber’

Michael Man is heading back towards crime, and we couldn’t be more intrigued by these new images for his techo-thriller called Cyber…or possibly Black Hat.

They’ve been filming under the working title of Cyber but these stills come with the rumoured hashtag #BlackHat as well, so keep an eye on that one. The two shots give us a look at Chris Hemsworth and co-star Holt McCallany, with one of these going up on the latter’s Twitter page. [Now seemingly removed - Studio?]

The director of The Last Of The Mohicans, The Insider, Ali and the mighty Heat has been off the radar since 2009′s Public Enemies but it’ll be interesting to see him return to the fray for this film that focuses on “American and Chinese forces who work together on a case of high-level computer hacking.” Mann has co-written the script with screenplay debutant Morgan Davis Foehl

Little has been heard about Michael Mann's international heist-thriller Cyber, save from star Chris Hemsworth himself.  While we don't have any more today in terms of plot, we do have the first images from the film.  They feature Hemsworth and who appears to be his co-star Holt McCallany.  Hemsworth plays a man who’s currently in prison for a cyber crime, and is offered a deal to help bring down a criminal who used his code to commit cyber-theft.  The heist-thriller will span the globe going from Chicago to Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong and Jakarta. Chicago Pd: NBC Orders Two More Episodes

The peacock network is apparently happy Chicago Pd, their new Dick Wolf series. NBC has just ordered two additional episodes, bringing the first season to 15 episodes.

Four episodes of Chicago Pd have aired so far, averaging a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.8 million total viewers. It's currently the network's fourth-highest-rated scripted series. Chicago Fire is number two.
