Rolfe Kanefsky grew up in the suburbs of New York and attended Hampshire college where he studied Film. He began writing stories at a young age after his childhood dream of becoming a clown took the backseat to his interest in film. He has written and directed 15 feature films and written another 11 produced features over the last 17 years. He is the winner of two Best Director awards for his recent horror flick, Nightmare Man at the Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and The Supernatural Film Festival in Las Vegas & at the I.F.F.Y.N.T.X. Festival in Texas.
Nightmare Man has received coverage and good reviews on most internet horror websites and in magazines such as Jane Magazine, Fangoria, Sirens Of Cinema, Screem, Cult Movies, Draculina, and Flavor. Nightmare Man has been in over eight film festivals and has won 12 awards including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Score, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Director. Nightmare Man stars B-Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis (Abominable, Bundy, The Hazing, Dark Reel) and features Richard Moll (of TV's Night Court fame, Scary Movie 2, House).
Kanefsky's teen comedy, Pretty Cool Too, a sequel to his dvd success, Pretty Cool hit DVD in June 2007, at such chains as Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. The titles have been so successful that a Pretty Cool 3 is in the works.
Rolfe Kanefsky has also written and directed the cult horror flick There's Nothing Out There, festival favorite Tomorrow By Midnight starring Jorge Garcia (Tv's Lost), Carol Kane, and Alexis Arquette (Pulp Fiction, Bride Of Chucky), Jacqueline Hyde released by Warner Home Video, and The Hazing starring Brad Dourif and Brooke Burke currently running on Showtime and Starz among others. Considered one of the best horror flicks of 2004, The Hazing recently won Best Feature at Fright Fest Film Festival 2006 in Kentucky.
