Sir Patrick Stewart explained on Thursday's Conan that voicing Poop in the upcoming Emoji Movie is part of his "philosophy of finding diversity." 

"Thirty years ago, I probably wouldn't have accepted this role," the venerated actor admitted, emphasizing that the part is animated. "But I'm now honored and delighted to be playing the role of the emoji Poop."

Sir Patrick Stewart just landed a literal shit role: The dignified actor, best known for his trademark work in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the X-Men franchise, scooped up the part of Poop in the upcoming Emoji Movie, Sony Pictures announced Wednesday.

The company revealed the casting via Twitter, writing, "So excited to announce the distinguished @SirPatStew as Poop in the #EmojiMovie," along with a picture of Stewart's character, a charming pile of feces wearing a bow-tie.

Hallie Jackson, who was among NBC and MSNBC's all-female road warrior team during the rough and tumble 2016 presidential campaigns, has been named White House correspondent, as expected, as NBC announced some of its new D.C. correspondents.

Meanwhile, Katy Tur, who became a repeated target of Donald Trump during her coverage of his presidential campaign, will remain in New York where she'll anchor the 2 p.m. hour on MSNBC. The 2 p.m. hour has been in flux since last month when Thomas Roberts, who was anchoring the 1-3 p.m. afternoon block, wrapped his run there.
