Graduated from Harvard University in 1938. A public relations pioneer, he worked for a number of Hollywood studios, including Paramount and RKO, and represented Fred Astaire, Robert Young, and Buddy Ebsen. He was a founder of the Public Relations Society of America and taught at UCLA and at Santa Monica College; he wrote the first textbook in his field, Basic Propaganda.
