20 June 2017 5:44 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Amblin Entertainment has acquired the rights to the 1973 John Bellairs children's book The House With a Clock in Its Walls, with Eli Roth coming aboard to direct this adaptation and Jack Black signing on to star. Eric Kripke, who is best known for creating the hit CW series Supernatural, wrote the adapted screenplay. The writer has been on board this project since 2011, but now this children's book adaptation is finally moving in the right direction.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Eric Kripke will serve as a producer alongside Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt. It was Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt's company Mythology Entertainment, which they formed with Laeta Kalogridis, that set Eric Kripke to write the script back in 2011. It remains unclear how faithful this adaptation will be to the original source material. This new report reveals that Jack Black will play the uncle to a young boy, who owns a terrifying Victorian mansion. »

Jack Black will star in the gothic horror movie “The House With a Clock in its Walls” and Eli Roth will direct for Amblin Entertainment and Mythology Entertainment.

No start date has been set for the project, which has been adapted by Eric Kripke from the 1973 John Bellairs book, which was illustrated by Edward Gorey. The story is set with a recently orphaned 10-year-old boy named Lewis Barnavelt moving to the town of New Zebedee, Mich., to live with his mysterious uncle — who turns out to be a warlock, while his next-door neighbor Florence Zimmermann is a witch.

The titular house was previously owned by a couple who had dedicated their lives to black magic, and plotted to bring about the end of the world through a clock hidden in the walls, where it eternally ticks.

Simon Brew May 9, 2017

Mission: Impossible, Avengers, Dwayne Johnson, Jurassic World, Ant-Man and more are lining up to meet you next summer. Oh, and The Statham.

With summer blockbuster season 2017 in full swing, and with Fast & Furious 8 speeding over the $1bn mark already, a bunch of filmmakers are furiously putting together their films for release this time next year (or thereabouts). Here, as things stand, is the state of summer blockbuster season 2018. We’ve veered towards UK release dates on the whole, but as always, things can quickly change.

Also, we’ve not included unnamed films: Universal, for instance, has reserved a slot for one of its classic monster universe movies, but not told anybody what it is yet. As more information pops up, we’ll keep this list up to date…

Luke Owen looks back at a time when Hugh Jackman was not Wolverine

There was a lot of buzz and excitement in 1999. People around planet earth were excited to see what the new Millennium would bring; while big companies panicked that the Y2K bug would kill all their hard work and shut down the working world. For Dougray Scott, 1999 was set to be the year that changed his career. He had been handpicked by Tom Cruise to play the villain in M:i:2 and he was set to play Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s X-Men.

The adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics property had been a long one. In 1984 Marvel writers Gerry Conway and Rob Thomas wrote a screenplay for production company Orion Pictures (Platoon) who had optioned the film rights. But when the company fell into financial troubles the rights went over to Carolco Pictures (First Blood) who began »

Michelle Rodriguez joins a cast that includes Rosa Salazar as the title character, alongside Christoph Waltz, Eiza Gonzalez, Jackie Earle Haley, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jennifer Connolly and Lana Condor. Jennifer Connolly has joined the cast of James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s film Alita: Battle Angel, which is currently in-production in Texas.

Terminator Genisys: what would've happened in the sequels?

6 January 2017 7:18 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Ryan Lambie Jan 9, 2017

The planned Terminator Genisys trilogy never got made, but we've tried to piece together what might have happened...

Not for the first time, Terminator Genisys was supposed to mark a bold new chapter in the series dreamed up by James Cameron back in 1984. Terminator Salvation, released in 2009, was Sony's glossy, $200m reboot, this time focusing on humanity's charge against the machines in the near future.

In many respects, Skydance's treatment of The Terminator was markedly similar to its 2009 Star Trek movie: younger actors cast in familiar roles, at least one veteran from the original series returning to give an air of canonical legitimacy, and a »
