Katy Perry Hits 2009 MTV EMAs' Red Carpet in Stunning Strapless Gown

It seems that Katy Perry has done her best to appear in 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards that has been kicked off on Thursday, November 5. Arriving at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany, the 25-year-old beauty was seen donning a stunning Marchesa gown, a nude one shoulder draped tulle strapless dress with embroidered ebony flowers.
Hitting the red carpet of the event, the Russell Brand girlfriend was pictured being showered in confetti. Beside serving as the host of the annual awards show, the "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker has taken the stage to perform some songs.
In addition to Perry, famous musical trio Jonas Brothers was seen among the guests. Attending the event, Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas opted to wear formal outfits. Moreover, top-notch songstresses, including Beyonce Knowles, Joss Stone, Shakira, Leona Lewis, and Lil' Kim, were all seen among the guests.

This year's annual MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) has been kicked off on Thursday, November 5, and the likes of Katy Perry, Pete Wentz and Beyonce Knowles were among some of the celebs spotted hitting the event's red carpet. Billed to be the awards' host, Katy showed up to the star-studded affair wearing a nude-colored one shoulder Marchesa gown with embroidered ebony flowers. The 25-year-old British singer was showered with confetti on the red carpet.
As for Pete, the Fall Out Boy bassist wore all-black outfit to the ceremony. He finished off his look with a matching cap. Besides, he was also spotted sporting a heavy black make-up on his left eye, which supposedly was inspired by film "A Clockwork Orange". Beyonce, who was one of the tapped performers at the event, hit the red carpet in Atelier Versace.

Stars of the music world hit the red carpet and the stage at tonight's MTV EMAs held in Berlin, Germany. The Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious was an uneven film about a fascinating man. (Moral of the story? Try not to make a biopic where the subject's relatives are producers. The results will be skewed. And there should, someday, be a movie about the mothers of Biggie and Tupac, two fascinating women.) Even though the film itself was uneven, there were quite a few excellent performances: Anthony Mackie (but when is he not? For example, The Hurt Locker) as Tupac, Jamal Woolard as Biggie, and Naturi Naughton as Lil' Kim. In fact, Naughton had the most interesting storyline, as Lil' Kim moved on from being Biggie's girl to his rapping protege, and the pain and hurt she portrayed was so raw and real. Playing a person who's still alive, and who came out, publicly, against the film, couldn't have been easy, and I wanted to see more of Naughton. In comparison? »

Part of getting the respect you deserve at the VMAs involves the careful planning of which type and shape of sequined sheath you'll want to glue to a small section of your bare left boob. So: Who barely wore it better? As my mother used to say to me and my feuding sister: "Girls. It is not a competition." But let's vote anyway! Damn, this is a tough one.... Lil' Kim Pros: Did it first; excellent purple wig; Diana Ross (!!!) followed through on nation's basest desire and reached out to swat her boob at the podium. Cons: full-on patterned jumpsuit = blatant eff-you to fashion; subject's recent association with Dancing With the Stars. (Ha!) Pink Pros: Zesty diamond-patterned pant leg; mind-blowing mid-performance trapeze routine. It's a good thing Pink and Shakira are both cool celebs and not overdramatic narcissists like Kanye West. In what could have caused a potential red carpet catfight, both singers showed up to last night's Video Music Awards wearing the exact same Balmain leather-studded dress. But we can't blame their stylists for this one... Pink told E! News that she ordered the dress online herself, while we're guessing Shakira's peeps picked hers. The "She Wolf" singer paired her edgy dress with leather knee-high boots, while Pink (who later rocked pasties à la Lil' Kim during her performance) wore pumps, dangly earrings and a funky hairdo. Being kicked off with Michael Jackson tribute show which was introduced by Madonna and led by Janet Jackson, the 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards continued with a series of live performances from big stars. Lady GaGa, Jay-z, Beyonce Knowles, Pink and Taylor Swift were some musical guests rocking the event.
Jay-z joined forces with Alicia Keys and performed his brand new song "Empire State of Mind". Changing her red outfit with all-white costume, Lady GaGa appeared on the stage of Radio City Music Hall on September 13 with several backing dancers donning similar clothes. She delivered a medley of her two hit singles, "LoveGame" and "Paparazzi".

At this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, it will be a family affair for the Knowles family. Beyoncé is tied with Lady Gaga for the most nominations this year ("Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" scored nine nods), and she'll also be performing her latest single "Sweet Dreams" at the big show. Sister Solange, meanwhile, will be one of the artists who will sit in with house band Wale and Ucb on Sunday (a role she'll share with Pitbull and 3Oh!3). Solange has been hard at work jamming with Wale and getting a feel for the Vma set on stage at Radio City Music Hall, but she also told Sway that her and her sister have both spent plenty of time trying to figure out what to wear to the show, which is always one of the most fashion-conscious events of the year.

Out of the 16 people on the particularly large cast of Dancing with the Stars this season, singer Mya is probably among those with the most dancing experience. After all, we've seen her strut her stuff, very memorably, on the music video of Lady Marmalade with Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Dwts alum Lil' Kim. Red feathery headdress, red and black corset, dominatrix-style whip, if I remember it correctly. To those who've seen it, one thing is clear: the girl can dance.
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old tells MTV News that all her prior dancing experience are practically useless as she tries to tackle an entirely new genre: ballroom.

You might have seen her getting down in music videos, but Mya said she still has a lot to learn before she shimmies and shakes on "Dancing With the Stars" starting September 21.
"So far, rehearsals have been really tough," she told MTV News. "So it's kind of like reversing my thinking, 'cause hip-hop is so loose and not structured, and tap is so loose and close to the ground and not structured, so it's so different. I have a lot of work to do in reversing how I think. And I have a lot of partner work to do, so I hope it doesn't hurt me. But I think music and musicality is going to help me stay on the beat."

Slowly but surely, partners for the next season of "Dancing With the Stars" are being announced, and Kelly Osbourne is the latest contestant to have her dance partner revealed prior to Monday's official announcement.
"Access Hollywood" reports that when the season starts on September 21, Osbourne will be dancing with Louis van Amstel, who has partnered with Priscilla Presley and Monique Coleman in past seasons. The pair will begin rehearsals this week. According to a tweet by Osbourne, she's been told by the show's producers to get a bit tanner for the premiere next month. "Just met with wardrobe, hair, and make up for dwts," she wrote. "They told me I need to get a fake tan haha!"

Although it was rumored that Latoya Jackson and Paula Abdul were possible contenders for the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars," neither will actually be vying for the title of dancing king or queen when the new season begins on September 21 on ABC.
Singers Mya, Macy Gray Aaron Carter and Donny Osmond and MTV reality star Kelly Osbourne, however, are scheduled to compete on the show. Former Republican Congressman Tom DeLay, "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" star Melissa Joan Hart, actress Debi Mazar, George Hamilton's son Ashley Hamilton, model Joanna Krupa, model/actress Kathy Ireland, mixed-martial-artist Chuck Liddell, professional snowboarder Louie Vito, Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin will also be battling for the mirror-ball trophy.

Michael Jackson's sister La Toya might be getting her dancing shoes on for the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars." After her superstar brother's death in June, La Toya is in talks with ABC and is thinking about joining the show.
Sources tell Us Weekly that La Toya has been approached by producers to join the cast, which in the past has included celebrities like Billy Ray Cyrus, Steve-o and Lil' Kim. "[La Toya is] in serious discussions to join the show," a source told the Web site, adding that La Toya has gotten a firm offer from the show.
