Mauro Ranallo officially leaves WWE, huge Tna shock return! | WrestleTalk News

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Tna Impact Wrestling have been taping their TV for May over the last several days, and they’ve seen their fair share of shock returns, debuts and title changes. As these happen in not-yet-aired episodes of Impact Wrestling, skip the next few paragraphs if you don’t want to read them.

Spoilers coming in 3…2…

Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner showed up at the final night of Impact Wrestling’s TV tapings on Sunday 23rd April. Steiner has been a main eventer in WCW, WWE and Tna throughout his career, but has been locked in a legal battle with the latter since he was released in 2012, claiming he was owed royalties from the promotion, and that he was injured because Tna officials allowed Jeff Hardy to wrestle him while Hardy was intoxicated.

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Despite his team losing to Jeremy Borash’s last week, Josh Mathews is still commentating for Impact Wrestling, coming out to announce on last night’s Bobby Lashley vs James Storm main event.

Just when I thought I was out…

I won’t go too much into spoilers, as Tna, Impact Wrestling, Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Bonanza – whatever you want to call it – returns to UK television tonight. After finishing up with Challenge late last year, Impact will now be airing on Spike UK every Friday at 9pm.

To make the time continuities even more confusing, though, the latest batch of Tna tapings started last night, and will run nightly until Sunday for their TV in May. And it was during those tapings where two big Tna returns happened. The next part contains spoilers for »

WWE Teases "Broken" Fans On Their Twitter

27 March 2017 12:23 AM, PDT | | See recent LRM Online news »

The WWE is ramping up promotion for their biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania. With that, they are using all the tools they have at their disposal to get the word out. One avenue has been Twitter, where the company has tweeted numerous Wrestlemania moments from the past 32 shows.

One tweet in particular has gotten the attention of fans. Showing a clip of Matt Hardy facing off against Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania 25, the WWE had this to say.

Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions after spending years in Impact Wrestling. During the last year of Dixie Carter's ownership of the company, the only major story that intrigued viewers was the character of "Broken" Matt Hardy and his battles with his brother Jeff, who he called Brother Nero. The duo had a fascinating match called The Final Deletion which is nothing like any »

Goldberg post-Wrestlemania WWE status, WWE offer Matt & Jeff Hardy contracts

22 March 2017 12:15 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The President of the United States right now is a WWE Hall of Famer. The head of the government’s Small Business Administration is the wife of Vince McMahon. We live in interesting times. But four time WWE Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte as the Secretary of Defence is a step too far.

visiting The Pentagon!

— Charlotte Flair (@MsCharlotteWWE) March 21, 2017

Of course, Charlotte isn’t really in charge of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force. She took the photo when visiting the Pentagon last night with Linda and Stephanie McMahon. That’s the five sided headquarters of the Us’ Department of Defence Pentagon – not the Lucha Underground wrestler Pentagon.

Yes, I did only include this story to make that joke.

Wrestlemania 33 plans still not finalized, major Tna returns…

17 March 2017 10:34 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last night saw the second episode of Tna Impact Wrestling under the new creative direction of Jeff Jarrett. As their YouTube video revealed earlier this week, the show had Alberto El Patron relinquishing his newly won World Heavyweight Championship back to Bobby Lashley. Vacant demands justice!

The show also saw the big return of Lax! The former-tna faction, not the Los Angeles-based airport. Original founders Konnan – who had the brilliant line “we’re serious, like a late period” – and Homicide returned in the episode’s main event segment, bringing with them new members Diamante, Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztik. They took out Decay to position themselves at the top of the Tag Team Championship picture. The titles are currently up for grabs, being taken off of previous champions the Broken Hardys when they failed to resign with the company. Vacant receives justice!

WWE insults Cm Punk on website, Jeff Hardy wants WWE return

15 March 2017 11:57 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Internet is an incredible invention – an outsourcing of human memory and knowledge. A hive mind for the world, allowing people to communicate around the globe in a matter of microseconds. In my opinion, it’s the biggest social change since the Industrial Revolution. But it’s also responsible for naming a research ship Boaty McBoatFace.

Last year, the Natural Environment Research Council launched a Twitter campaign called #NameOurShip. The Internet gave the most votes to Boaty McBoatFace.

So I don’t know what Tna owners Anthem are thinking asking fans on the Internet to name the owl in their logo, a contest that has now been extended for another week.

Due to the overwhelming amount of submissions, we are extending the contest by 1 week! Next Monday we name a winner! #AnthemOwl

Matt Hardy reveals WWE return talks, Tna first New Era episode…

10 March 2017 10:41 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last night was the first episode of Tna Impact Wrestling under the new regime of Jeff Jarrett, Dutch Mantell and Scott D’Amore. They promoted the episode on Twitter, posting:

Tonight we celebrate our past, embrace the present and look towards the future. This is Impact Wrestling #MakeImpactGreat Tonight 8/7c

— Impact Wrestling (@Impactwrestling) March 9, 2017

Not celebrate the last three years, though, as both Mantell and Bruce Prichard buried former Tna owner Dixie Carter’s regime during in-ring promos on the show. Considering how far Tna fell in 2016, though – with the promotion coming very close to closing multiple times – it’s probably a good thing to sweep that under the ring apron, now the company appears to be under far more stable management in 2017.

This didn’t go down too well with a few of the wrestlers backstage, though – the exact ones who wrestled for the company in those buried ‘tough’ years. »

Matt & Jeff Hardy sign with Roh, loads of Tna star returns

6 March 2017 11:02 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

After leaving Tna Impact Wrestling last Monday, The Broken Hardys became professional wrestling’s hottest free agents…until Jack Swagger requested his WWE release, of course. With Jeff Hardy saying in past interviews that he wants to end his career in WWE, and Matt continuingly teasing a return to the company by tweeting Sasha Banks and Bray Wyatt, it seemed as though the brothers were on their way back to Vince McMahon. Especially when Pro Wrestling Sheet reported on Friday that “Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy have begun preliminary talks with WWE about a return to the company” and that “right now things are looking good.”

That ‘right now’ turned out to be about 24 hours.

The following night, at Ring of Honor’s Manhattan Mayhem VI show, the Broken Hardys shockingly turned up after The Young Bucks retained their tag team titles against Lio Rush and Jay White. The Bucks »

Tna is dead, now ‘Impact Wrestling’! Paige backstage at Tna tapings…

3 March 2017 9:07 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Yesterday’s episode of Impact Wrestling had Bobby Lashley defeat Josh Barnett to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, and we saw the last Tna appearances for The Broken Hardys, Drew Galloway and Jade. But the real news was happening in the non pre-taped version of the Impact Zone. i.e. the live, real-time version.

The episode broadcast last night was the final instalment from Tna’s January tapings. From next Thursday onwards, Jeff Jarrett’s new regime – and by ‘new’, I mean, the regime from about five years ago being brought back – will kickstart their era on television. An era that started filming last night.

Because this is about yet-to-be broadcast footage, spoiler warning for the next month-or-so of Impact Wrestling.

First up, the biggest one – former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio made his Tna debut at the TV Tapings, going by his non-WWE name Alberto El Patron. Mr »

Jeff Hardy to WWE & Matt Hardy to New Japan? Massive changes at Tna…

2 March 2017 7:17 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

A lot has gone down in Tna over the last few weeks. Original founder Jeff Jarrett has officially regained control of the promotion after being brought back in by the new owners Anthem Sports and Entertainment. Jarrett, in turn, has changed-up the backstage team, replacing previous Head of Creative John Gaburick with his guy Dutch Mantell – the former Zeb Colter in WWE. With the first batch of TV tapings from the new regime set to start tonight, Tna’s future direction will finally be unveiled.

And it’s going to be pretty different.

In just this week alone, top acts Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, former World Heavyweight Champion Drew Galloway, current Tag Team Champions Matt and Jeff Hardy – and now the latest, former Knockouts Champion Jade – have all left the company. The way things are going, expect several other wrestlers to have departed Tna by the time this article goes live. »

Matt & Jeff Hardy leave Tna Impact Wrestling! Are they going to WWE?

28 February 2017 3:11 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

This one’s a long one, people. There’s a lot of conflicting reports and broken backstage promises. So get comfy. This is the story of how The Hardy Boys left Tna…

This week was make or Delete for The Hardys and Tna Impact Wrestling. Both Matt and Jeff Hardy’s contracts were up by the end of February, and Tna are scheduled for their next batch of TV tapings from Thursday 2nd March through to Sunday. The Broken One said as much himself, tweeting yesterday:

It shall be an Intriguing week for the professional wrestling industry.

— #Broken Matt Hardy (@Matthardybrand) February 27, 2017

With the usual image of him looking completely bonkers.

Contract negotiations between the Hardys and Tna have been going on for months, with Pro Wrestling Sheet reporting the two sides actually agreed to terms on a new one-year deal back in December, bar a few minor changes. »

Wrestlemania 33 match in jeopardy, former World Champion leaves Tna…

As you might have noticed by all the red carpets and Meryl Streep speeches around at the moment, it’s awards season. So here’s a WrestleTalk award for Best Social Media Post of the Weekend, which goes to…Kevin Owens, in reply to Goldberg saying he’ll win Ko’s Universal Title at WWE Fastlane:

Good luck with that, man! Sorry I only just saw this now but I was busy wrestling at a live event in Germany like true @WWE Superstars do.☺️

WWE going after Matt & Jeff Hardy, original Bayley title plans revealed…

24 February 2017 11:59 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

With Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe seemingly aligning with Triple H, many are speculating that we could be seeing the formation of The Authority 2.0.

If, for some bizarre reason, you want to relive The Authority’s first incarnation, you can pick up WWE’s official comic book that’s been detailing Seth Rollins siding with the McMahon-Helmsley faction. In a recent issue, Seth meets up with Triple H on The Game’s evil super-yacht base called The Sea-Rebral Assassin.

I want us all to take a moment to recognise what a solid pun that is.

We also need to recognise another achievement – Ring of Honor’s 15th anniversary.

The promotion’s first show – The Era of Honor Begins – was held on the 23rd February, 2002. The main event had Low Ki defeating Christopher Daniels and Daniel Bryan, with Eddie Guerrero, Super Crazy and Brian Kendrick also on the card.

Aj Styles & Jeff Jarrett shoot on Tna & Dixie Carter, ex-tna champion returning?

20 February 2017 8:56 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Tna, or Impact Wrestling…or Anthem Giant Bird and Entertainment – whatever name it currently goes by – didn’t have the best 2016. It nearly went under several times, and, at one point, their biggest show of the year Bound For Glory almost didn’t happen due to lack of funds.

Following the messy legal battle between former Tna President Billy Corgan and the company’s then-owner Dixie Carter, things appear to be looking up for the promotion. Tna’s original founder Jeff Jarrett has been brought back to run the company as Executive Producer, and he recently spoke to Newsweek about last year’s annus horribilis.

Look at me using Latin words, like I’m Triple H or something.

John Cena behind Bray Wyatt push, Tna legal dispute with Lucha Underground…

In one of the weirder wrestling stories of the year so far – and that’s saying something, as the below ‘I’ve Been Stone Cold Stunnered Support Group’ picture shows – Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson and WWE Studios are making a movie based on the life of current WWE wrestler Paige.

The reason that’s so weird is because seemingly every other week has another story about strained relations between her and her employer.

The film is called Fighting With My Family, and is based on the Channel 4 documentary of the Norfolk-based Knight family, of which Paige is the daughter that found fame. It’s already got a director in The Rock’s Tooth Fairy co-star Stephen Merchant, and has cast Dwayne, Cersei Lannister, Nick Frost and Vince Vaughn. Florence Pugh will be starring as Paige.

Pro Wrestling Sheet are now reporting that a “big moment from Paige’s career »

WWE Wrestler George 'The Animal' Steele Passes Away at 79

The world of sports entertainment is in mourning today, as it was confirmed this morning that legendary WWE Superstar George 'The Animal' Steele, a.k.a. The wrestling legend had been in and out of hospice care since April.

TMZ broke the news of George 'The Animal' Steele's passing last night, although wrestling promoter Eric Simms of Ess Promotions had previously shared that the late wrestler had entered hospice care, asking fans to pray for him, before he ultimately passed. This morning, a number of WWE Superstars took to Twitter to pay tribute to this wrestling legend, and the WWE released a statement, confirming George 'The Animal' Steele's death. Goldberg’s WWE return success reason revealed, backstage heat between Tna & Roh

9 February 2017 11:47 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

When Goldberg made his WWE return in October last year, he quickly became the promotion’s top babyface. Goldberg, like Brock Lesnar, is a part-timer. He only works a limited number of dates and he’s not on every episode of Raw. Consequently, when Goldberg’s around, it feels like a big deal – like something you should pay attention to.

Many have pointed out that, bizarrely, this could be because staying off WWE television actually increases your star power. By not being on TV as much, he is neither over-exposed in three-hour shows every week, nor subject to the 50/50 booking that has failed to build the full-time roster.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, another reason behind Goldberg’s WWE return success is down to someone else.

When reviewing the segment on this week’s Raw where Goldberg challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Title at WWE Fastlane, »

Undertaker pitched for Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania backstage? Tna changes behind-the-scenes…

8 February 2017 12:12 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Undertaker vs John Cena was the heavily rumoured match-up until a few weeks ago, where according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon had actually “been wanting to make [Taker vs Reigns] for some time…” and that “…with Undertaker’s condition the way it is, this could have been the last chance to do it. There is the idea of a generational passing of the torch.”

Now a new report has come out from Wrestling News World – who aren’t as reliable as the Wrestling Observer, but have had scoops in the past – saying that it was actually Undertaker who pitched to face Reigns, whom he wants to lose to at Wrestlemania.

In recent years, Taker has apparently said after his Wrestlemania matches that he’s wrestled his last. But by the time WWE’s biggest show of the year rolls around again the following year, he’s ready to go once more. »

Ex-wwe stars return to Tna, WWE Hall of Fame 2017 class leaked?

Just as it was reported from the Tna TV tapings, Brooke Tessmacher made her return in last night’s episode of Tna.

If it’s still called Tna, that is. The promotion’s new owners Anthem Giant Birds and Entertainment appear to be phasing out the name – one which many criticise for being an outdated play on the early-00s WWE tag team Test and Albert. And also that it sounds like the abbreviation of ‘tits and ass’.

Note to self: never let Vince Russo name your wrestling promotion.

Both Tna’s Twitter and Facebook pages now barely have any mention of those three initials, with Impact Wrestling now becoming the branding’s focus.

Anyways, back to Brooke. In a backstage interview, she announced she’s back with the promotion full-time and plans on winning the Knockouts Championship. And the former Damien Sandow in WWE, Aron Rex, debuted his »
