Directed three music videos for rock band The Smiths.

Jarman's production team worked with English group Suede in "The Tour Films", used as a backdrop for their second tour.

Christopher Hobbs, in Derek Jarman: Life as Art (2004) reported that his last words were "I want the world to be filled with white fluffy duckies"

Educated at Canford School in Dorset, England.

He was made a Fellow of the British Film Institute in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film culture.
