NBC’s Powerless set to premiere in February

9 December 2016 2:00 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The folks over at NBC have unveiled the station’s midseason schedule, which includes premiere dates for a number of brand new shows. Of the upcoming programs, however, one is sure to earn the top spot on comic book fans’ lists of their most anticipated shows: Powerless.

Powerless is a half-hour comedy set in the DC Universe that follows a group of normal office workers. Reportedly, the show will make its debut on the aforementioned network on February 2nd, 2017; it will air on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m., right after Superstore.

NBC screened the show’s pilot, written by Ben Queen and directed by Michael Patrick Jann, at San Diego Comic-Con back in July, and while it didn’t earn overwhelmingly positive reviews, critics did seem to enjoy it, generally agreeing that it’s an entertaining and good-hearted workplace comedy with a stellar ensemble.

DC's Powerless Trailer Gives Aquaman and Wonder Woman a Shout-Out

19 May 2016 4:30 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Just last week, we got our first look at the new DC comedy series Powerless with two photos and a poster. Today, we have the trailer. It made its premiere earlier this week during NBC's upfront presentation in New York City. Now, it has made its way online thanks to a contributor at Reddit. And as you can see, the first footage wastes not time referencing Batman V Superman while giving both Wonder Woman and Aquaman a shout-out. We also get to see Crimson Fox in action as she catches a train.

Powerless is NBC's first DC Comics TV show, and it's different in that it's a workplace comedy. Some have called it Supergirl meets the Office, and the first trailer sure does give off that vibe, though it looks decidedly more action packed than your average sitcom. Just last week, the network announced a series order for this latest »

NBC Orders DC Comics Comedy ‘Powerless’ and John Lithgow’s ‘Trial & Error’ for 2016-17 Season

NBC has begun ordering series for the 2016-2017 season by picking up two comedies: “Powerless” and “Trial & Error,” Variety has learned.

Powerless” is the first-ever DC Comics comedy. Vanessa Hudgens stars as Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right — even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.

The workplace comedy also stars Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi and Christina Kirk. Ben Queen wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Michael Patrick Jann who directed the pilot.

“Trial & Error” is a fish-out-of-water comedy, starring “3rd Rock From the Sun” alum John Lithgow. »

Wash of ‘Firefly’ and Abed of ‘Community’ are ‘Powerless’ on NBC

The lives of superheroes are kind of a nightmare if you stop to think about it for two seconds. They balance garbage jobs and secret identities with regularly going toe-to-toe with villains and creatures powerful enough to wipe out humanity. That’s a lot of stress, especially since superheroes don’t have company-paid health insurance. But as much as it might suck to be a superhero, being a normal person living in a superhero world is 1000% times worse. Here you are just trying to get up in the morning, drop your kids off at school, get to work, figure out dinner, and worry about mundane things. Then along comes a superhero fighting a Monster of the Week™ and suddenly your office building is a pile of ash. Now how are you supposed to get those Tps reports done!? Such is the premise of Powerless, a new un-superhero show that NBC picked up for a pilot. »

Superhero Sitcom Powerless Finds Its Lead In Vanessa Hudgens

23 February 2016 3:02 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s true that, on occasion, the DC comic book universe has, perhaps, seemed a little serious – particularly if you consider Batman to be the most successfully adapted character across media. All that brooding, and growling and sitting in his cave has indeed created a sense of darkness that is perceived as permeating the whole enterprise. Soon, however, there will be television comedy called Powerless, which will be headed up by Vanessa Hudgens, and is set to provide an injection of levity.

Created by Ben Queen (A to Z, Cars 2) for Warner Bros TV, this workplace comedy series was picked up by NBC some time ago, and has now cast its lead. Vanessa Hudgens will play Emily Locke – a dedicated and hard-working claims adjuster, employed by the most incompetent insurance company in America. Emily takes immense pride in her role, helping people through difficult and challenging problems – but she prefers to operate quietly, »
