Marcia Clark and Sarah Paulson Compare Notes: O.J. Simpson, Hair, Feminism and Curse Words

15 August 2016 9:51 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” forced Marcia Clark to relive one of the most difficult moments of her professional career – but more than 20 years after the verdict, she’s found peace.

Clark, now a successful author, joined Sarah Paulson – the actress who played her on “People v. O.J.” – on stage Monday in their first public appearance together. Together, they held a candid conversation about the series, sexism and life after O.J.

“I don’t think I’m ever going to heal completely from the injustice of it, the unfairness,” Clark told “People v. O.J.” executive producer Ryan Murphy, who moderated the conversation at 20th Century Fox’s Zanuck Theatre. “But I’ve come to understand it more deeply.”

Clark said the racial divide was something Los Angeles’ district attorney office was aware of, and an issue they knew would be a focal point »

Jason Derulo Performs "Superfreak" on Lip Sync Battle

4 April 2016 10:46 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

He's super freakay! Jason Derulo is nearly unrecognizable in a preview for this Thursday's Lip Sync Battle on Spike, where the singer channeled a full-out '80s performance of Rick James' 1981 hit "Superfreak." The "Talk Dirty" crooner donned dreads and showed some skin in an open-chest black studded leather jumpsuit in true Rick James fashion. His performance payed homage to the song's music video, even mimicking James' iconic park bench routine alongside a line of sexy dancers. If you didn't already know the hip hop singer and dancer could bust a move, the 26 year-old's take on "Superfreak" shows he can really get down. The performance was so electric that even »

Review: 'The People V. O.J. Simpson' gives 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia' a fair trial

8 March 2016 8:11 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

A few thoughts on tonight's The People v. O.J. Simpson coming up just as soon as my stylist turns me into Rick James... How appropriate that we get to wrap up International Women's Day with "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia," The People v. O.J.'s sympathetic mash note to doomed O.J. prosecutor Marcia Clark. It's not straight-up hagiography, as it points out various mistakes Clark made during this period — continuing to dismiss Darden's concerns about letting Mark Fuhrman testify, taking a big stand in court about needing to get home to her kids and then asking her husband to watch them that night (a move that she had to know would blow up in her face, given the contentiousness of the divorce and her new hugely public identity) — but it also illustrates the many challenges she had to face throughout the trial that none of her male counterparts did. Watch: Tyler Perry Returns With a Shotgun Blast in First Trailer for ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’

4 March 2016 10:47 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Tyler Perry’s Madea had returned in the first teaser trailer for “Boo! A Madea Halloween” with a shotgun blast to greet trick-or-treaters on her front porch.

“I don’t play that Halloween bull,” she proclaims in the midst of the mayhem of a worldwide pandemic.

The trailer concludes with Madea chortling as the strains of Rick James’ “Superfreak” play.

Lionsgate is releasing the comedy on Oct. 21. Perry is writing, producing, directing and starring. Ozzie Areu and Will Areu will also be producers on the film.

The film originated from Perry and Chris Rock including a fictitious Madea Halloween movie in Rock’s 2014 film “Top Five.” Lionsgate then approached Perry and suggested that they make the movie.

The film also stars Bella Thorne, Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Andre Hall, Yousef Erakat, Lexy Panterra, Diamond White, Liza Koshy, Brock O’Hurn, Jimmy Tatro, Jc Caylen, Kian Lawley and Mike Tornabene.
