Michael Bay Targets WWII Actioner ‘Sabotage’

11 October 2013 1:52 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

After yesterdays talk of Michael Bay wanting to direct a horror film, it now appears the blockbusting director will first follow-up his forthcoming sci-fi sequel Transformers: Age Of Extinction with a historical action-thriller set during World War II. The film currently has the moniker of Sabotage and is based on Neal Bascomb’s non-fiction novel ‘Sabotage: A Genius Scientist, His Band of Young Commandos, and the Mission to to Kill Hitler’s Super Bomb’. It’s a project again being set up at Bay’s usual studio home of Paramount Pictures.

Sabotage is actually a true-story that’s been brought to the big-screen twice before - 1948 Norwegian documentary-styled production, The Fight Over The Heavy Water and the more action-orinatated classic The Heroes Of Telemark (1968), which starred Kirk Douglas, Richard Harris, Ulla Jacobsson and Michael Redgrave.
