As befit his unique lifestyle, a number of strange characters moved in and out of Michael Jackson's orbit over the years. None, however, was more elusive and mysterious than a gentleman by the name of Dr. Tohme Tohme, who served as the late singer's adviser and confidant in the final years of his life.
Over the weekend, Tohme, a native of Lebanon who claims to have helped Jackson rescue Neverland Valley Ranch from foreclosure last year, broke his silence about the death of his friend for the first time and spoke to The Associated Press, describing his relationship with the late singer and how he briefly entered the star's orbit.
Tohme, described by the news service as "a financier with a murky past,

Investigative journalist Diane Dimond, who has been covering Michael Jackson since 1993, talks to "The Insider"'s Samantha Harris about the new reports that the drug Diprivan may have been the cause of his death. "This could be the smoking gun that killed Michael Jackson. We won't know until the toxicology reports come back," Diane says. According to Diane, Diprivan is a really strong drug used in hospitals. It is not for home use; it is to put people to sleep before surgery. "It is really powerful, and, in the hands of somebody who doesn't know what they are doing, it can kill," Diane says. The previously reported memorial for the King of Pop that was rumored to be taking place at Neverland is not happening, and the family has said that they will shortly announce the plans for a public tribute. Diane tells "The Insider": "I believe they've decided to have it open casket.

After Michael Jackson died, all the usual suspects came out of the woodwork to inflame, speculate, accuse, defend, and memorialize. Media vultures like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Gloria Allred took their well-worn places, along with ex-attorneys, autopsy specialists, and professional pundits. Hundreds of thousands of Jackson's fans filled the internet with glowing praise and sad goodbyes. A handful of people questioned the lofty praise being heaped upon a man based almost wholly on his entertainment value rather than the whole of his character, which was, at best disturbing. At my neighborhood coffee shop, the young barista was crying as she wrote a Michael Jackson trivia question on the chalkboard. She was upset that other people were not sharing her sense of loss. "He wasn't a child molester," she said to me vehemently. "All those people, they...

Michael Jackson got his final revenge on his alleged, tyrannical, abusive, and unfeeling father, Joe. He didn't leave him a red cent in his will. That of course is the party line about Joe Jackson. Few fathers have ever been more reviled. Joe was slammed hard for laughing and joking with Reverend Jesse Jackson outside the family compound a day after Jackson's death. He was slammed even harder when he turned up at the Bet Awards allegedly shopping a record deal while uttering a few standard, impersonal platitudes about Jackson. And then the ultimate indignity, Michael allegedly blanking him out of his purported will. With Joe, it was never the proverbial case of you love him or hate him. It was just simply hate. The line was seemingly set by Jackson in his autobiography in 1988. He lightly hinted at...

Michael Jackson's death may be tragic, but it is not the end of the world. Even the Rev. Jesse Jackson thinks so. Amid reports that distraught M.J. zealots have become suicidal in the aftermath of his sudden demise, the clergyman and friend of the entertainer is urging fans to "keep hope alive." "This is a time when hearts are heavy. There is great pain but great cause to celebrate Michael's life," he says. "It made Michael happy saying 'We Are the World.' Don't self destruct. We fall down sometimes, we get back up. That's the right thing to do. In Michael's name let's live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools." According to...

Rev Jesse Jackson has revealed that Michael Jackson’s family are concerned over Dr. Conrad Murray's behaviour. The physician denied any responsibility for the late singer’s death when he spoke to Los Angeles police over the weekend. Rev Jackson, a longtime friend of the family, told People that Michael's relatives are not "accusing the doctor of anything" but are upset about his "bizarre" actions after he went missing following the popstar’s death. He said: "The family has questions. Of course. There is a concern about what happened the last 12 hours of Michael's life. The doctor has showed some bizarre behaviour. Apparently, the doctor was with Michael, maybe administering (more)

Michael Jackson's death doctor has denied administering a painkiller that reportedly triggered Jackson's suspected cardiac arrest last week. Dr. Conrad Murray, the pop legend's personal cardiologist, claims he didn't give the singer any injection. Murray's lawyer Edward Chernoff insists the physician never prescribed nor administered Demerol, one of the cocktail of prescription drugs reportedly found in the star's body after his death. But the Rev. Jesse Jackson said the doctor's behavior was "bizarre" the last 12 hours of the singer's life and requires a full explanation.
