One measure that you've made your mark in country music: being asked to preside over one of the annual Cma events.

Kimberly Perry, of the award-winning Band Perry, and Luke Bryan both can claim that signpost now. They co-host ABC's now-annual three-hour special "Cma Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" Monday, Sept. 17. The show condenses the Country Music Association's four-day Nashville gathering that brings artists and fans together every June.

Perry and her performing partner brothers Neil and Reid were feted by the Cma last year with the song and single of the year awards for "If I Die Young," which she wrote. As if that wasn't flattery enough, she got an additional honor via the organization's offer to be one of the point people for its summer-ending television showcase.

"I like to run my mouth," Perry tells Zap2it. "It was such a great time also to spend a »

Adele's '21' no. 1 on Billboard 200 chart for 24th week

13 June 2012 1:50 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Adele's smash album "21" returns to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week. It's occupied the top spot a whopping 24 (non-consecutive) times.   The Brit singer sold another 75,000 copies, barely beating out Alan Jackson's new "Thirty Miles West," which debuts at No. 2. Remarkably, "21" returns to No. 1 for the first time since March 17. It's now the first album to be in the top spot for 24 weeks since Prince & the Revolution's "Purple Rain" soundtrack hit that mark way back in 1984 and 1985. "21" has sold 3.52 million copies in 2012.  After successfully reuniting, »

Ashton Kutcher fires back at Justin Moore about Acm performance: 'Know when to fold 'em brother'

9 April 2012 10:59 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

It looks like Ashton Kutcher and country singer Justin Moore are well on their way to a full-fledged Twitter fight.

The whole fun started at the Academy of Country Music Awards when Kutcher took the stage in a black hat and red Western-style jacket and then sang some of George Strait's tune "I Cross My Heart." Moore didn't take kindly to this.

"Seen Ashton Kutcher at the ACMs tonight. What a d*****! I don't care for people making a mockery of the way country artists dress," Moore says on Twitter. Moore then went on to trash Kutcher on Fox 411 Country saying he found the performance "distasteful."

Kutcher has since defended himself and thrown a couple of barbs at Moore. The "Two and a Half Men" star writes on Twitter, "I grew up idolizing the style of the Highway Men, Hank, Merle, Patsy Cline, Dolly. Starting to wonder if new country just doesn't get it. »

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Directed by: Stephen Daldry

Cast: Thomas Horn, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Max Von Sydow

Running Time: 2 hrs 9 mins

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: January 20, 2012 (Chicago)

Plot: A young New York boy (Horn) seeks to solve the mystery of a blank key left behind by his father (Hanks) who died on 9/11.

Who’S It For?: If you still consider Alan Jackson’s “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning” to not be a stinky serving of wet cheese, then you might fall for Extremely Loud. Those curious about a thoughtful narrative concerning New Yorkers and their post-9/11 attitudes should search far and wide for Margaret, starring Anna Paquin and featuring Matt Damon.

Expectations: I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had avoided the trailers long before people were tossing around the phrase “Oscar bait.”

Scorecard (0-10)

Actors:

Thomas Horn as Oskar Schell: Horn »
