Wrestling Daily News Roundup – Possible Main Event for The Royal Rumble, Chris Jericho Attacks Kenny Omega, Brock Lesnar Movie Role?

Liam Hoofe with a round-up of the latest wrestling news…

Main Event for The Royal Rumble

In the main event of last night’s Raw [read our review here], Kane fought Braun Strowman to determine the new number 1 contender for the Universal Championship. The bout, which was disappointing, ending in a double count-out for both men, meaning that it is still unclear as to who The Beast will face at the Rumble.

Many people online, however, are speculating that Braun Strowman and Kane will both face Brock Lesnar in a triple threat match at the Rumble. While this would be a nice way of protecting Braun, it seems crazy to think that Kane could be in a PPV main event, competing for a top title in 2018, while the likes of Finn Balor sit on the sidelines. Stranger things have happened, though, and this definitely looks like the way they are moving forward.

Several Changes to Clash of Champions

Last night’s edition of WWE Smackdown saw several changes made to the pre-existing matches at Clash of Champions, and one new match added to the card. Here is the updated card for the event:

WWE Star Ric Flair on the One Thing He Does Better Than Daughter Charlotte
Regardless of what Chris Jericho’s wrestling trunks would have you believe, Ric Flair is generally considered the greatest of all time. (Sorry, Y2J — we still think you’re very, very good.) But the surprisingly humble “Nature Boy” doesn’t believe he’s even the best in his own family. “She’s so much better than I was, it’s unbelievable,” Flair told TheWrap of his daughter Ashley, who wrestles in WWE under the name Charlotte. “She can’t talk as good as me, but she’s better in the ring.” We shared a good laugh about that, though

‘Mister Universo’ Review: You’ll (Almost) Want to Run Away and Join the Circus

‘Mister Universo’ Review: You’ll (Almost) Want to Run Away and Join the Circus
The circus isn’t as romantic as it used to be. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey recently closed their tent for the final time after 146 years, the plight of animal performers is much too sad to ignore, and anyone with an affinity for peanuts can go to the ballpark instead. At the margins, though, there’s still a world of acrobats, bearded ladies, and lion tamers trekking from town to town as they eke out an existence at risk of fading away entirely — a world given beautiful expression in “Mister Universo.”

Not since “Big Fish” have we seen this world onscreen in such vivid detail, though Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel’s scope isn’t as grandiose or fantastical as Tim Burton’s. A docudrama that in its early scenes feels like a documentary — the co-directors have a nonfiction background, and the actors are actual carnival performers — the film plays

Kurt Angle revealed for WWE 2K18, ex-tna star debuts for WWE – WrestleTalk News

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Baron Corbin’s Yard

One of the longest running storylines in WWE – to whom does Undertaker’s yard truly belong? – has just taken a rather literal turn.

Roman Reigns has been claiming this is his yard since retiring the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. But Baron Corbin has now revealed on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast that the property now belongs to him, as he’s just bought Mark Calloway’s previous home.

He actually bought the house from the Big Show, who had previously purchased it from The Deadman. Which sounds like a hell of a coincidence, but, as Corbin points out, it’s actually a lot more to do with not hitting your head on a door frame:

“It was built for a big man…Everything is way taller than it should be.”

What’s In The Mitb Briefcase?

Carmella’s Mitb Win

After Smackdown’s do-over on Tuesday, Carmella has now won every Women’s Money in the Bank match in history. If you don’t count James Ellsworth. The Princess of Staten Island celebrated her second win in style, stylin’ and profilin’ not in a limousine or private jet, but by travelling home on a bus…

Smackdown Rating

Whether you agree with the Women’s Money in the Bank do-over or not, the decision appears to have worked well in the ratings. Tuesday’s episode drew 2.6 million viewers, which is slightly up from the previous week’s post-Money in the Bank show.

52% of you thought it was an above average episode at SmackTastic, while 35% agreed with me at Smack Bang in the Middle.

Liam Hoofe with his top 10 WWE Superstars of 2017 so far…

The last few years have seen a fundamental change in the look of the average WWE superstar. The company have expanded their horizons massively over the course of the last few years, reaching out to the Indies and other promotions and as a result, given us one of the most diverse and talented rosters we have ever seen.

The fact that the WWE has such an array of talent on Nxt, a show which is supposed to be their development program speaks volumes about the depth of their roster at the moment. 2017 has been a great year for the company, from an in-ring standpoint at least and here are ten of the company’s best performers of the year so far…

Ranking All 17 Money in the Bank Cash-Ins From Worst to Best

Liam Hoofe takes a look at all 17 previous Money in the Bank cash-ins and ranks them from worst to best…

This Sunday night the WWE will crown their 18th Mr. Money in the Bank. Since the debut of the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, the bout has given us 17 victors, 15 of which have gone on to win world titles- a good omen for whoever walks away the winner this Sunday night.

Ever since the first cash-in at New Year’s Revolution 2006, the WWE have tried to surprise fans and come up with different and innovative ways to deploy the gimmick, the majority of which have been successful.

Not all cash-ins are created equal however and some of them have not quite worked out as planned. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at each Money in the Bank cash in and rank them,

Big Show unhappy with WWE, shoots on Raw! Money In The Bank plans – WrestleTalk News

Flashback Thursdays…

2011 was a different time. The first brand split had come to an end. The Anonymous Raw General Manager wasn’t going anywhere. And six years to the day tomorrow, WWE ran one of its best angles in recent times, with Cm Punk escaping through the crowd with the WWE Championship, blowing Vince McMahon a kiss, after beating John Cena in Money in the Bank’s main event.

Meanwhile, over in the UK during 2011, Raw’s current day Cruiserweight roster were wrestling for Dragon Gate.

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

How Tjp Got His Name

You might’ve noticed in recent weeks that Cruiserweight competitor Tj Perkins started going by the much faster to say abbreviation Tjp – meaning Cruiserweight matches on Raw can now be even shorter. But apparently word efficiency isn’t the only reason behind the name change.

On a recent episode of the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez claimed Tjp is now so named because Vince McMahon hates the restaurant chain Perkins:

“Vince apparently Hates “Perkins”. He hates it, and he thinks it sucks…and he thinks that if people hear Tj Perkins, they’re gonna think of the f****** restaurant. So now he’s Tjp.”

This is yet another example of Vince’s food preferences potentially affecting WWE programming – with Chris Jericho revealing last week that his Wyatt Family / Shawn Michaels

A Wild Vince McMahon Appears!

Being 71 years old and having repeatedly revolutionised the professional wrestling business, you’d think WWE Chairman Vince McMahon would be taking it easier in his seventh decade. Especially because he’s rather prone to randomly tearing quads. But he still refuses to skip leg day.
