The Notable Films of 2010: Part Seven

29 December 2009 7:16 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Mother and Child

Opens: 2010

Cast: Naomi Watts, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington

Director: Rodrigo Garcia

Summary: A tale of a mother and daughter, separated at birth, who struggle with the damage done by the most important person missing in their lives while a young African-Americn woman deals with an unwanted pregnancy and the adoption process.

Analysis: Scoring rave reviews in Toronto, the $7 million latest effort of Rodrigo Garcia ("Nine Lives," "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her") once again shows off his skill at weaving multiple narratives together in clever and unexpected ways. At its heart it's an emotional family drama, but Garcia excels with his female characters which makes the involvement of Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington and especially Annette Benning thrilling.

The few criticisms levelled at the film were toward some pacing and credibility issues in the last act, but otherwise praised it for not »

Law And Miller Soak Up The Sun In Barbados

28 December 2009 4:01 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jude Law and Sienna Miller have fuelled speculation they've reignited their romance after jetting to Barbados for a festive break in the sun.

The actress was spotted relaxing in a bikini with Law and his three children on one of the Caribbean island's white sand beaches on Sunday. They were also photographed giggling with delight during a dinghy ride.

Miller is said to have spent Christmas Day in Barbados, while the actor and his sons Rafferty, 12, and Rudy, seven, and daughter Iris, nine, flew in on the 26 December after spending time with their actress mother Sadie Frost in London.

The couple has reportedly checked into a beachfront villa, where they will celebrate Miller's 28th birthday on Monday and Law's 37th on Tuesday.

It is the first time the Alfie co-stars have been photographed together since they split in 2006 after Law's fling with his children's nanny was exposed in the press.

Despite almost four years apart, both stars have struggled to find lasting love - Miller ended her on/off relationship with actor Rhys Ifans, and endured a romance with married actor Balthazar Getty earlier this year, while single Law became a dad for the fourth time in September following a brief fling with American model Samantha Burke. »

Law was reported flying to the island with his three kids from former wife Sadie Frost on Boxing Day, December 26. Upon their arrival, they were picked up by a limo and driven straight to Miller's oceanfront pad. Of the two, an eyewitness said, "They look like they never split up. Jude's children are clearly comfortable around Sienna and they all looked to be having a blast."

Prior to the beach spotting, it was reported that The Baroness of "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" has repeatedly asked the 36-year-old to »

Irish actress Evanna Lynch has revealed how much she loves acting in the next Harry Potter film, the first part of "Harry Potter and Deadly Hallows," which will hit the big screens in November 2010. In an interview with online site SnitchSeeker, Lynch said she loved shooting in Wales for the Shell Cottage scenes in Deathly Hallows. "It was really nice. It was like a little beach away from everything. It felt really real because it was not a set. It was really open. It was freezing. It was kind of like home though, as well … a little place in the middle of nowhere." Though she designed the earrings and the lion hat for the last movie, she reveals she was too busy this time round to do it. . "Not really, no, 'cause I have exams. I'm a bit busy. But I did try a few things on the Lovegood house. »

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Four

Georgia

Opens: 2010

Cast: Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia, Rupert Friend, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Johnathon Schaech

Director: Renny Harlin

Summary: An American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native get caught in the crossfire of the five-day Russia-Georgia conflict in August 2008, and then have to deal with their obligation to be impartial.

Analysis: A timely parable on war, or Hollywood propaganda filmmaking at its worst? Wherever it goes, especially in Europe and the former Soviet states, "Georgia" will cause a lot of talk and controversy as the incidents depicted are still so fresh in many's minds. Like all topics of the sort, it'll also have its strong supporters and detractors having opinions on the film long before a frame of footage is screened anywhere.

Shot on-location in Tbilisi, the project also marks a potential return to form for Finnish director Renny Harlin. Given the right material the skilled action director delivered three »

Having sparked speculation of rekindled romance after they were spotted spending some time together while they were both appearing in plays on Broadway, Jude Law and Sienna Miller could be heading to a more serious path. The Sun has recently come out with a story, insisted that the on-and-off couple is indeed back on and will be moving back in together in 2010.

Sienna Miller Seen Visiting Jude Law's Apartment Again

4 December 2009 8:26 PM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

Things are apparently getting serious between Sienna Miller and her ex-fiance Jude Law. On Friday afternoon, December 4, the 27-year-old beauty was spotted once again paying a visit to the "My Blueberry Nights" star's pad in New York.

At that time, Sienna, who was accompanied by her pooch Bess, was seen knocking at the apartment's door. Later in the evening, she and Jude were photographed going out from the pad and heading to their respective Broadway shows. Trying to avoid the paparazzi, the two left the apartment separately.

Three days before these photos were outed, Sienna was also caught leaving Jude's apartment. The actress appeared to be in a rush since she was snapped running to a waiting car.

Sienna Miller and Jude Law got engaged on the Christmas Day of 2004. Unfortunately, in November 2006, the two called off their engagement after he was caught having an affair with his children's nanny. »

Trailer - Ben Stiller in Noah Baumbach's 'Greenberg'

24 November 2009 9:32 PM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Noah Baumbach started out really well as a director with The Squid and the Whale, which he followed with the chalkboard-fingernailing Margot at the Wedding. But something good may have come from that experience: One of his actors from the film, Jennifer Jason Leigh, helped Baumbach put together the story for his new flick, Greenberg. It features an indie turn for Ben Stiller and explains why his been growing his hair out this year, which I'm sure is a load off your mind.

Stiller plays the title character, a guy who, at some point around 40, just decided to do nothing. That's different than someone who just does nothing with no purpose; Greenberg is actively passive. Wrap your head around that, why don't you. But through his nothingness, Greenberg starts to find his true calling, or at least something. Which is more than nothing.

The film co-stars Leigh, Rhys Ifans, and Greta Gerwig, »

Movie Preview: Ben Stiller Plays It Straight in Greenberg

24 November 2009 11:30 AM, PST | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

I have a love/hate relationship with Ben Stiller movies. Over the years, I've grown tired of seeing him in the same everyman role again and again (with a few exceptions, like There's Something About Mary), but every now and then he throws a curve ball that pulls me back in. Greenberg already looks like one of the latter films. The upcoming indie movie from The Squid and the Whale director Noah Baumbach follows Roger Greenberg, a middle-aged New Yorker who heads to La and decides to "do nothing" in an attempt to figure out his life. The movie looks like it could be a tearjerker, but maybe that's just because LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends" is playing in the background. (The band's James Murphy lends a few new songs to the movie). Rhys Ifans is Roger's best friend while Greta Gerwig is the woman he befriends and beds. »

Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg Trailer Starring Ben Stiller

24 November 2009 7:34 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

The Squid and the Whale director Noah Baumbach has a thing for selfish, disaffected and socially inept characters, and it looks like his latest film Greenberg will be no different. The movie stars Ben Stiller as Roger Greenberg, a middle-aged drifter who moves from New York to L.A. to house sit for his brother, and falls for his brother's personal assistant Florence (Greta Gerwig). It's nice to see Stiller in a role that returns him from the world of frat pack comedies back to something a little smaller and more intimate, and there's a sense that this movie may be more optimistic than Baumbach's last film Margot at the Wedding (which I enjoyed, but I know a lot of people hated). The supporting cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Mark Duplass and Jennifer Jason Leigh, who is credited with co-writing the story. Baumbach himself also recently helped Wes Anderson out »

Trailer For Greenberg

24 November 2009 3:19 AM, PST | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

Focus Features have just released a trailer for Greenberg, the upcoming Noah Baumbach comedy drama starring Ben Stiller. The film also stars Rhys Ifans, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Greta Gerwig.

Baumbach, who shot to prominence with his first feature The Squid And The Whale, recently co-scripted Wes Anderson's stop motion Roald Dahl adaptation, Fantastic Mr. Fox. The distinctive Baumbach tone is still there with Greenberg yet it seems more optimistically upbeat than his last film, Margot At The Wedding. The story centres on Roger Greenberg, a dysfunctional 40-year-old who agrees to housesit for his younger brother in L.A. and is really keen to start doing nothing with his life. He begins seeing his brother's personal assistant Florence, a somewhat lost, aspiring singer, and following a series of abashedly uncomfortable romantic rendezvous with her, he starts to think he might have finally found someone who can appreciate him.

Here’s the new trailer for Ben Stiller’s latest movie, Greenberg which is directed by Noah Baumbach. The movie also stars Greta Gerwig, Rhys Ifans, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Chris Messina, Brie Larson, Juno Temple and is directed by Noah Baumback.

Greenberg seems to have moved away from Stiller’s usual style of comedy and has become somewhat darker than we’re used to. I’ve added the trailer below the synopsis. Let us know what you think in the comments below. You can check out this trailer in HD on the Apple website.

Apple has made the trailer for Director Noah Baumbach's Greenberg available. This comedy/drama stars Ben Stiller. Watch it below...

Meet Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller): a dysfunctional 40-year-old at a crossroads in his life. Roger wants to "do nothing" for a while, so he agrees to housesit for his younger and more successful brother, giving him a free place to stay in L.A. While in town, he tries to reconnect with his old friends and band mates but times have changed, and old friends aren't necessarily still best friends. Greenberg starts spending time with his brother's personal assistant Florence (Great Gerwig), an aspiring singer and herself something of a lost soul too. Greenberg Movie Trailer: Noah Baumbach Returns

23 November 2009 3:39 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

A song can make all the difference to a trailer. This first footage from Noah Baumbach's new comedy / drama Greenberg could be seriously depressing, were it not for the bouncy 'All My Friends' by LCD Soundsystem. Ben Stiller, Rhys Ifans, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Greta Gerwig star in the film that was called Greenberg, then was untitled, and is now apparently called Greenberg once more. Check it out after the break. We had a couple of preview pics that came out of the American Film Market not too long ago, but this is a much better taste of the film. Seems like it's significantly more upbeat than Baumbach's last film, Margot at the Wedding, even without the James Murphy / LCD Soundsystem bounce. (And, as the trailer proclaims, there's new music from Murphy on the soundtrack, which could be a great thing.) Ben Stiller looks good, Greta Gerwig looks great »

Greenberg Trailer: Ben Stiller Gets Baumbached

23 November 2009 3:37 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Focus Features has released the first trailer for director Noah Baumbach's upcoming film Greenberg, which stars Ben Stiller as a jobless guy who doesn't really want to do anything with himself. The film also stars indie darling Greta Gerwig, who cut her teeth in such Duplass Brothers comedies as Baghead and Nights and Weekends, and appeared recently in Ti West's The House of the Devil. She's an incredibly talented actor (and writer/director) who has been ready for a role in something that really breaks. Here's hoping (for her sake) that this is it. The trailer itself poses an interesting enough story, and one that feels a cousin to Baumbach's work in The Squid and the Whale and Margot at the Wedding. Although in fairness, it harkens back more to the theme of his first film, Kicking and Screaming, about men who refuse to move on with their lives after college. Ben Stiller »
