Late last week, we got two Trailers for what appear to be serious Academy Award contenders in Bleed for This and Sully. They have almost nothing in common, except for one actor…Aaron Eckhart. He’s a main supporting player in both films, with potential Oscar consideration on the horizon. Eckhart has come close to his first nomination on at least two occasions, for Rabbit Hole and especially Thank You For Smoking (with some also being quite fond of his turn in The Dark Knight), but this is his probably his best shot in some time. Both with Bleed for This and Sully, he has the sorts of parts that voters often tend to fall under the spell of. We’ll see if Eckhart can woo them successfully this time around, but he’s certainly got a chance. You’ll see him in the Trailers for both below, but first, »

Tom Hanks portrays celebrated pilot Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s Sully. See the teaser, which has come on the heels of yesterday’s official image and poster release, below…
In January 2009, after both of the planes’ engines failed, Captain Sullenberger managed to save the lives of every passenger and crew member aboard Us Airways Flight 1549, 155 people, by landing in New York’s Hudson River. The incident later became known as the “Miracle on the Hudson,” and Sullenberger was hailed as a hero for his efforts.
As the trailer shows, the story doesn’t end there. It looks like Sully will take a look at how the terrifying and life-changing experience affected those involved, especially the titular pilot. Additionally, the movie seems to highlight the fact that Sullenberger was forced into a spotlight he didn’t ask for after the event and ended up »

After pushing out two films in 2014 with Jersey Boys and American Sniper (the latter the highest-grossing domestic release of its respective year), director Clint Eastwood took a two-year gap before his return with this year’s Sully. The biopic follows the true story of Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who glided his plane along the Hudson River, saving the life of all those aboard in an event often referred to as the Miracle on the Hudson. Ahead of a release this fall, the first trailer has now landed.
Tom Hanks stars as Sullenberger, with a cast rounded off by Anna Gunn, Aaron Eckhart, Sam Huntington, and Laura Linney. It will be shot by long-time collaborating Dp Tom Stern, who has lensed all of Eastwood’s recent efforts. This time around, the duo have opted to shoot almost entirely with IMAX cameras, which should make for an impressive theatrical experience.
