Seth Meyers: “Omg, Republicans! How Do You Screw Up Tax Cuts?”

Seth Meyers took a Closer Look at the Hail Mary tax-cut plan being pushed by the Gop after Tuesday’s stunning election losses. The plan would increase taxes on many middle-class families while slashing corporate taxes and leaving in place a break for golf course owners. “Tax cuts are to the Republican party what ‘Piano Man’ is to Billy Joel,” Meyers said at the top of Thursday’s Late Night. “Whenever they think they’re losing the crowd and people are heading for the…

'All Eyez on Me' Review: Tupac Shakur Does Not Get the Biopic He Deserves

'All Eyez on Me' Review: Tupac Shakur Does Not Get the Biopic He Deserves
A hip-hop gamechanger, a revolutionary's son, an actor, an ex-convict, a platinum-selling artist, a sensitive truth-teller, a "Thug Life" tattoo-sporting tough guy, a black man, a martyr – Tupac Shakur was all these things and more. It was never a matter of whether or not the 25-year-old musician deserved a biopic so much as why it took so damned long to make it happen. (Would that it were so simple: You can read a detailed history of the project's long, winding and incredibly bumpy road to becoming a reality.) There was

Film Review: ‘All Eyez on Me’

Film Review: ‘All Eyez on Me’
Sleekly shaven-headed, with a pirate bandana, a gangsta’s dripped-in-death tattoos, and the liquid stare of an Arabian prince, Tupac Shakur was the matinee idol of hip-hop superstars: not the fiercest rapper, not the most virtuosic or visionary, but a figure of “hard” ferocity who elevated street nihilism by fusing it with a certain lovesexy bravura. For a while, he was as much a movie star as he was a rap star (and he would have been a bigger one had his legal troubles not scared off the Hollywood establishment). On some level, Tupac’s life always seemed like a movie playing out in front of you — not just the hair triggers of bloodshed, but his whole contradictory dance of activism and thuggery, commitment and celebrity.

All Eyez on Me,” the messy, hugely flawed, but fascinating biographical drama that has now been made about him, channels those contradictions, even if

Movie Review – All Eyez on Me (2017)

All Eyez on Me, 2017.

Directed by Benny Boom.

Starring Demetrius Shipp Jr, Jamal Woolard, Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Jamie Hector, Lauren Cohan, Dominic L. Santana, Grace Gibson, and Harold House Moore.

Synopsis:

The true and (supposedly) untold story of the prolific rapper, poet, and actor Tupac Shakur.

Did you know Tupac took up ballet when he was a teenager? Did you know that he dated the daughter of the local chapter of the Communist Party USA? Did you know that Tupac’s rap career began as a roadie and as a background dancer to Digital Underground?

The answers to those questions should be in this biopic. A film with the subtitle: ‘The Untold Story of Tupac Shakur’ one would expect some interesting anecdotes. Instead, the film offers an inane and uninspiring biopic that’s more interested in skimming over his life, briefly looking at some details, and project the public

Tupac Biopic ‘All Eyez on Me’ Premieres in Westwood

Tupac Biopic ‘All Eyez on Me’ Premieres in Westwood
It took an entire decade, filled with no shortage of controversy, but director Benny Boom’s Tupac Shakur biopic “All Eyez on Me” finally unspooled for a crowd that included cast, crew, and a number of Tupac contemporaries Wednesday night at Westwood Theaters in Los Angeles.

After a packed and chaotic red carpet scramble – attendees included former Shakur collaborators Shock G, DJ Quik and key mentor Leila Steinberg; hip-hop luminaries Kendrick Lamar, Russell Simmons, 2 Chainz, Big Boi, Big Boy, the Lady of Rage, E-40 and Mc Hammer; and sports figures like boxer Floyd Mayweather and NFL star-turned-actor Nnamdi Asomugha — the film began well over an hour late. But for producer L.T. Hutton, a former Death Row Records exec who has been with the project since the beginning, a little start delay wasn’t going to keep him from enjoying the moment. “This took ten years of my life to make this movie,

All Eyez on Me Review: Tupac Shakur Gets a Wikipedia Biopic

All Eyez on Me Review: Tupac Shakur Gets a Wikipedia Biopic
Tupac fans lower your expectations. All Eyez on Me is a helicopter biopic of the late rapper and activist. The film ticks all the boxes for the important dates, people, and events in Tupac's life. What it doesn't do is provide any insight whatsoever to the man or the events that really shaped him. All Eyez on Me lacks depth. It works in the sense that it explains how the rapper became famous. That might be adequate for those with zero knowledge of Tupac's life and music. For the throngs of fans and naysayers who are familiar with Tupac, there's nothing here that hasn't been publicized ad nauseam. It's as if Tupac's wikipedia page got the big screen treatment.

The film begins in 1971 with pregnant Black Panther activist, Afeni Shakur (Danai Gurira), shouting down reporters after being acquitted in a New York Court. We get a brief

On tonight’s CNN’s Soundtracks: Songs that Defined History, we see how a nation was helped to heal after 9/11 — with some help from the Piano Man himself, Billy Joel. All Eyez on Me Trailer: The Untold Story Behind Tupac's Legacy
With the June 16 release date just a few months away, CodeBlack Entertainment has debuted a new trailer for the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me. This sneak peek comes just one day before the late rapper will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. This biopic has certainly had its ups and downs through the development process, but the final product could end up being one of the most talked-about movies of the year, centering on the iconic rapper, who would have turned 46 years old on the exact day this biopic will be released.

We first reported on this Tupac biopic way back in 2011, when Antoine Fuqua (The Magnificent Seven) signed on to direct, but he eventually parted ways with the project. John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood) signed on to direct in 2014, but he left a year later, with Carl Franklin (Out of Time
